Fried fish, macaroni and cheese, green beans.

Delicious food fresh/hot all the time and price is reasonable. Ms. Martha always is patient and friendly taking our orders. The restaurant is clean and family oriented. Food line always clean. I would recommend this entree's fry fish, country fried chicken, baked tilapia or baked chicken. Side dishes cabbage, green beans, macaroni and cheese ooo and let's not forget black-eyed peas.corn bread is a must.

This is a usual spot for my husband and I for years. We visit frequently and they are normally on point as far as the food. It's Luby's for when you want close to home cooking and don't feel like cooking. I always choose a salad, entree, and dessert. I stick with the Carrot Cake. This particular day was no different. The timing was good because we had beat the crowd. The steam table seemed to be fresh and of course my favorite cake. I had eaten all of my food selection. Chopped steak with cheese, macaroni and cheese and fried okra. Had put my to go portion to the side and was now eating the cherished carrot cake. I bit down and it was crunchy which it sometimes is because you get pecan shells but this particular time it was harder crunch and I spit out what was in my mouth to discover a broken piece of plate. I told our waitress which if you frequent Lubys you know they have waitress that get your condiments, clean the tables, and refresh your drinks. Some are more tip worthy than others if you know what I mean. When I called her over and showed her the broken piece of whatever it was, her response was well you know you eating at a restaurant. I was well aware of the point when I left my job to come to this establishment but I could only think about what could have happened to my tongue, my teeth at that moment. So the resolve was refund my money of course and no apology. When she presented it to the manager she said, I've got a void". The male manager was standing at the register and it seemed to be upset about the statement. He took his time and gave her the refund. Gives her a receipt and moves on to continue doing whatever. She returns to the table with a refund receipt. Where is my original receipt? Oh he has to go to the back to get that because they need to keep track of all voided receipts. That's not my problem or concern. It was the lack of concern for me. Give me my receipts and I will never return to this Lubys. Maybe the manager gets voids so frequently that he has lost his skill of apologizing to the customer for the experience. Maybe the waitress has seen people try to get over that she didn't realize people don't have to eat at your restaurant or any other and maybe they don't remember that several Lubys are no longer in business. So my response to that lack of customer service to both of them is to no visit anymore. Thank you ma'am and sir. The reason I am writing the review is because my experience was disappointing that people have lost the sensitivity to a customer who had a bad experience at your establishment.

Some you win some you Luby's

Some you win, some you Luby's. It is a classic for things like chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak. It's far from being the best in town but it's a nice little diner chain that used to be the biggest in the country, and is still one of the go-to places for sit down diner food, much better than IHOP or Denny's for me.

Got the Angus stake, prob better than godam salt grass. I think Maria was the one that cooked it and its amazing. Also my first time here so when i looked lost, Velma swooped in to save me and was so nice. 10/10 would take my date here

I came to this particular location to get lunch to go because I didn't feel like being Mr. Lonely and eating alone while listening to Bobby Vinton on my headphones. Anyway, just like your typical Luby's, I had to go through the whole cafeteria from one end to the other end before I pay. I decided to get a chicken fried chicken combo with corn and mac n cheese on the sides along with some wheat roll. When you order to go at this location, they put everything in separate containers. The fried chicken in its own box, each of the sides and the gravy in their own little containers. So there I was holding a meal box with three smaller containers stacked on top of it and as I approached the cashier, one of the containers fell and made a mess everywhere. The cashier saw what happened and immediately got up and got me a new one even before I had the chance to say anything. When she came back, I apologized for the mess and thanked her for bringing me a new side. She smiled and told me not to worry about it. I paid, I left. If you've been to Luby's, then you already know that the food at Luby's is usually pretty good. This location is no exception. Also, when you order the Combo (vs. the LuAnn platter) then you get a lot of food. No complaints about this particular location. Will definitely be back.

    Fried fish just ain't right...

Decided to try Luby's off 290 and 34th since I was in the area. In my 36 years of life, having had many cafeteria meals including Wyatt's, Piccadilly, many trips to Luby's etc. this was the absolute worst. Looks like they have a new vendor for their classic fried fish. It was terrible. I took three bites of this plate and threw the rest away. The dessert pie filling was grainy. This was inedible. There is nothing worse than getting excited for an experience you are used yo having and being so absolutely disappointed. If this is what we are getting now sober the acquisition, then we just need to go ahead and close the doors. This was abysmal.

Fried fish Mac and n cheese

I mean come on fried fish and Mac and cheese. How can you go wrong. I have been getting this dish for the past 28 years! I'm 33 now. Food is always fresh. People are really nice that work there. Desserts are good as well. Not sure why this place has so many low ratings. I was in and out. Food was fresh. They had plenty of silverware and ice. I mean what do you want from Lubys besides good food. They sell good Sunday dinner time family meals.

I wandered in not expecting much, but my experience here ended up much better than I thought…read more I went with their August prix fixe and went with their Truffle Deviled Eggs, Crispy Sweet & Sour Shrimp, and Key Lime Tart. The deviled eggs make good comfort food and was satisfying. This version doesn't have much of a kick, but it's very creamy and you can definitely taste the truffle oil. The homemade potato chips also add to the texture and salt between bites. The shrimp dish was fun with a light and crispy batter, well-seasoned and drizzled with sweet chili sauce. The cool ranch surprisingly added to the shrimp and enhanced the chili sauce rather than overwhelming it. The made-in-house fries were far better than expected. I was somewhat expecting dense, oily, boring fries, but these were very crisp and somehow didn't feel too greasy as far as fries goes. Almost seemed like an injustice for it to be served with ketchup as it was too good for it. Lastly, the tart was a great way to end the meal without it being too much. Loved the crust. The tart shell tasted really good and went well with the filling, which had a lighter consistency than pudding. Fruits tasted like they were on season, even though it should be a bit too late for strawberries. I'm also a sucker for meringue. I'll have to come back to see if it wasn't a fluke, but there were a lot of dishes here that looked good. Maybe even swing by for happy hour, we'll see. Definitely a nice spot to visit in this neighborhood.

We ordered the following: - Mama Pauly's Meatballs - Buttermilk Popcorn Chicken Bites - White Truffle Devil Eggs - Single Cheeseburger Separate from the Happy Hour Menu: - KP's Wicked Wings (BBQ Flavor) - Crispy Sweet n/ Sour Shrimp Out of everything we ordered from the happy hour menu, I would personally recommend the meatballs, truffle devil eggs, and cheeseburger. The meatballs and tomato sauce were both solid and I loved the toasted bread on the side. As for the truffle deviled eggs, that's something you don't see often on the menu! The truffle flavor/aroma was solid and the fresh chips on top were nice. The cheeseburger was pretty good and I enjoyed all the veggies that came with! Aside from that, the restaurant had a neat interior/decorations and good service!

Service was amazing-- we loved our waiter who was a combination of polite, funny, and knowledgeable, and everyone gave us a smile. All the dishes were beautifully presented and flavorful but definitely on the heavier side. - Beet salad (5/5)-- wow, never had a beet salad like this one before! So much flavor with a tanginess from vinegar sweetened by the blueberries and beets. The beets didn't taste very earthy (aka like dirt) compared to most beet salad. This was really well executed :) - Caesar salad (3.5/5)-- Credence's spin on Caesar, which according to my Caesar salad pro diner, didn't really taste like Caesar salad. Also very tangy and tart but the pro still enjoyed it as a salad dish. - Roasted cabbage (4/5)-- big fan of the way they roasted this, perfect tenderness without being cabbage mush! Definitely a heavy dish, especially for a vegetable option, as it was swimming in a butter cream sauce that started to congeal as it cooled off. Would choose this more as an indulgent appetizer rather than a healthy veggie option. I wonder if one could ask for the sauce on the side... - Tuna tostada (3.5/5)-- if you like strong flavors, this one packs a punch. The gochujang aioli beneath the tuna is really concentrated, making it difficult to taste the actual tuna. There's a bit of heat but thankfully I wouldn't say it was spicy. Fun to try. The tostada itself was very dense and almost a bit bread-y versus a crispy chip texture. - Crab fried rice (4/5)-- comes with lobster foam that is mixed table side and a generous amount of crabmeat lumps. The rice actually had a nice texture without being too... grainy / individualized, but it was too salty for me. - Akaushi Wagyu beef (4.5/5)-- loved the texture which was tender but with some chew (was expecting more of a melt-in-the-mouth texture though) and the veggies that it came with. It was heavily salted, too much so for me. Would've been perfect with less salt since there's already a chimichurri sauce with it. - Peanut butter tart (4.5/5)-- peanut butter lovers rejoice! The chocolate filling was rich, thick, and sweet which was complemented nicely with the whipped cream (not sweet at all). The peanut flavor really shined. The crust didn't have much of a taste by itself and was sandy in texture, not sure if on purpose or over-baked and dried out. Either way, the tart looked impressive when it arrived and was delectable-- my favorite bite of the night! Overall a nice experience! Although there was a mess up and the rest of our two salads and crab rice wasn't packed with our other food to take home; I was pretty sad about that since it was quite a bit of food (and $$). I might return for that peanut butter tart, but everything else was too heavy and too salty for me. I'm personally not a huge butter fan, but if you are, definitely make a reservation for a special occasion or date!

It is a walk-up counter order setup--they bring the food out to your table, but you retrieve your own drinks and silverware. I'm personally not a big fan of walk-up ordering (meh #1), and the dining room felt like it could use a little TLC (meh #2), but overall the food made up for it. Fried Green Tomato BLT: Served on a pretzel bun with bacon, aioli sauce, and leaf lettuce (which I substituted for shredded lettuce). They have a 2 for $20 meal that includes a starter of choice and an entree. First off, the portion sizes are huge. I ended up taking half my food to go- and it tasted juat as good this evening for dinner! It came out quickly and the customer service was spectacular. They even flagged us down when we were about to leave because I left my jacket at the table. During our dining, we were checked on regulary by our server D'Anna. She was patient with us deciding on our choices for our orders and willing to give us guidance on entrees. We never had an almost empty water glass, and magically, even sitting outside on the covered patio, we did not have to fight with flies to keep them away from our food, but I wouldn't blame the flies one bit if they tried because Millie's has some amazing dishes. First off the fish dip is electrifying. Reminds me of seafood salad, but not as chunky. Delicious!!! A must try. I ordered the wedge salad for my 2 for $20 meal. It didn't come out with my other counterparts' apps because they were making the blue cheese dressing from scratch- SCRATCH! And boy was it amazing when it did come out! Fresh and refreshing. Once more, my philly was loaded with toppings! A little spicy than expected but not to the point that my tongue was burning. The beef tallow fries were also a pleasant compliment to my philly. Not salty at all and thick cut just how I like them so I can taste the potato. It was not only a great meal but exceptional setting to have a dining experience. I can see why this place is popular!
