I also love that she is a very early riser, so it's easy to drop off my dog before heading off to work. We will not be going back, though, because of one particular vet, the worst one we've ever encountered. Most of the vets we saw there were great. But this one asked us to make an appointment to follow up on our ailing pet, and then simply refused to answer the phone or return messages to allow us to make that appointment. When a week had gone by with crickets, we asked for an appointment with anyone who was available. You can't wait like that with a sick pet. Well, that got him on the phone finally. He said another vet "wouldn't appreciate" having to see us. Oh really? Then pick up the phone!! Then midway through discussing treatment options (again, on a sick animal) he said he "had to go" and hung up on us. We couldn't agree on what treatments he had even said they'd do, and they did one we definitely didn't agree to or discuss. The treatment wasn't the issue, though; the issue was his epically bad, unprofessional attitude. The kicker? He never called to ask us how our potentially dying pet was doing afterwards. Never again.

Michelle groomed my little Zoey's hair for over 15 years and when Michelle left another location and moved here - you can bet I didn't hesitate to follow her. She is truly amazing - patient, kind, and so VERY GOOD at what she does. This place also has a wide array of pet food, treats, and other various supplies. I have found that the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful when I'm looking for products. And, they also remember and recognize you and your pet(s) - even the ones that aren't yours that you show up with on occasion! Lastly, they are just dog people here! They have openly told me that it's totally okay to bring my pup here on those cold days when it's not safe outside - and to just walk her around the store for exercise - no purchase necessary. It's things like that that keep you coming back.

I'm fully convinced The Dog Wash Etc. team healed my pup's nail trim trauma!…read more A little backstory: years ago, I used to bribe and singlehandedly wrangle my shepherd rescue mutt -- Layla -- in order to trim her nails at home. It was never an easy task to tackle alone. After about 4 years, I tragically hit the quick of one of her black nails. Fast forward to now 8-year-old, 65-lb Layla, who still won't let me near her with clippers. I've had to outsource the torturous task to her vet and groomers since that fateful day. Once she associates a place with nail trims, though, she resists entry and tries to find the nearest exit. The Dog Wash Etc. has proven to be a rare exception to this rule, which is a testament to the positive experiences we've had there. Evie skillfully handled and warmly gained Layla's trust during our first visit and again several weeks later (bonus: the trim kept Layla's pawdicure needs at bay much longer than usual) It doesn't hurt that the Pets on Point store has cookies (and a whole shop full of goodies) for a post-trim treat. Punch card rewards or not, Evie and the Dog Wash team have earned our loyalty. I am eager to try the actual dog washes next... although Layla is as enthusiastic about baths as she is about nail trims!

We have lived in Boston and San Diego and I kid you not, she is the best groomer we have ever been too! So many other groomers have charged more and sent him home covered in fur and done a mediocre job. Not at Dawgtopia! Our frenchie is SO CLEAN, she did the best job with his overgrown nails, and she took extra care in cleaning his face folds. She genuinely seems to like what she does and loves animals. She put me on the path to the South Portland store where I got plenty of help from knowledgeable staff. Although learning about petcos corporate policy on not accepting salt fish returns if they are sick or pass was shocking Thopsham and South Portland fish were well taken care of and properly QT so I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again. I purchased a Lawnmower Blenny and some crabs here that are doing amazing!

I went in to look at fish with a few friends, and while walking past the entirety of the fish…read moretanks, we saw graveyards and tragedy. At first, we were seeing some cheaper fish, then soon realized that if you are a cheap fish, your likelihood of survival is low... there were near 60 deceased fish in total. They were floating upside down, sucked into shreds in the filter, stiff and lifeless bodies in piles in the corners... In addition to this, there was a very large fish shoved behind a filter also lifeless! Lastly, the goldfish tank was an absolute monstrosity. It was foggy, dirty, no food present, no light in either their tanks or their souls. We actively watched two goldfish die and drift off in the water. I'm disgusted and disappointed Petco. Vicky lied straight to us, saying that these fish were recently checked on and someone is with the fish, cleaning their tanks every day. If this were true, the graveyard in the corner with fish dead so long their eyes were gone would have been removed correct? Anyways, astronomically distrusted.
