The Hannaford's in Brunswick is the best downtown grocer that I have ever had the pleasure to visit. They are friendly, clean and attentive. The fruit is always fresh and well stocked. With local in season selections to choose from! The bakery is Awesome! I enjoy the fresh food prepared daily. I am a busy dad, partially prepared meals are a staple of the times. Hannaford's is my goto! There is not a big natural foods section here, because Brunswick has a natural foods grocer on Maine Street. It is good to live in a town with both options, independent and big grocer. When shopping for the week or weekend getaway, the Brunswick Hannaford's is the place to go. read more

Poor customer service! Rx called in and 2 hours later went to pick it up. Told it would be ready by 1:30 so I called to verify at 1:45 and no answer. Then they went on lunch break and no way to find out if it is ready. Not the first time I have had problems there. I moved to Walgreens and now my wife will too. read more

I don't really know where I stand on this Hannaford, but every time I come - no matter the day or the time - it is absolutely chaos. Despite being one of the physically larger Hannaford's in the state, despite the inventory being so spread out, it feels like I'm just constantly in everyone's way since there are *so many* people (and staff restocking shelves) here. Also, I'm actually surprised at the lack of some of the vegetarian/vegan products I've found available at other smaller Hannaford's in smaller towns. Thank goodness for Morning Glory down the street! And finally: the parking. I think this Hannaford parking lot rivals the Auburn or the Mill Creek one in terms of confusion and lawlessness. Be careful out there, friends! read more

As in any Hannaford you are greeted at the door usually with a smile which is always a good start. I like the way Hannaford's are all laid out the same way. So, whether it's my local Hannaford or one I'm not used to I can navigate pretty easily since they layout is familiar. The prices are competitive and the service excellent, not sure where you shop for groceries but I'd recommend Hannaford if you have one in your area! read more

I don't get all the negative reviews. This store is just the right size. Big enough to carry a varied inventory and have a solid produce department, but not so big that you feel like you're shopping at a Warehouse Club. I'm a long-time Hannaford shopper in several Maine towns, I always find the store personnel pleasant and helpful. It is my regular grocery store and I'm as pleased as can be. Sometimes when I think I have to drive somewhere else, e.g., Whole Foods, to get something "special" I'll come home and find it right under my nose in my neighborhood Hannaford at a much lower price. read more

Bad location. Too crowded. Rude and uninspired staff. If you have a car, go up the road to Shaw's or over to Topsham to that Hannaford. Today was the last time I'll go to this store. Aisles are so narrow and the displays are on both sides and in the middle. This causes a traffic jam in every aisle. Maybe it's crowded because it's close to the college, or within walking distance for all the weirdos. (I know, they need to eat too) When I shop here I feel like I'm in a psych ward with really bad produce. I'm done with this store. read more

I will be blunt, but honest. Hannaford's as a chain, is pathetic. I considered crafting a list of all the idiocies and insults that the stores perpetrate, while profit taking as a near monopoly. But I can sum it all up neatly with one observation. Their customer service is open four hours a day on weekdays. That's correct, if god forbid one might actually want to go through the energy of asking for help from a chaotic, over-priced, understocked in variety, supermarket, one would have to do so in a small window, decided by staff shortages and cost-cutting during a boon time for grocery stores. Don't let them fool you. If you can go to any other supermarket in your area, choose it. If you are in one of those areas where the competition is too far or non-existent, you have my sympathy. Quite literally, I know of no one that when asked, has ever left a Hannaford's without feeling worse than when they went in. If you shop here, you are a lemming with a low IQ. Since this is the grocery store closest to campus, Hannaford's is sure to stock end caps with college necessities: beer, chips, easter candy, baked goods, macaroni - all there and easy to throw in the basket for a quick turnaround time. This review is for Hannaford stores in general. I find the prices far too high. The prices at these stores are sometimes more than $2.00 more than those prices at Walmart. For example; a 28 oz. can of tomatoes for making sauce is $1.00 in Walmart and $1.59 in Hannaford. A block of cheddar cheese is over $9.00 in Hannaford but is just over $7.00 at Walmart. Surely the differences in prices are far more than should be expected. On a better more favorable note, the produce seems to be fresh and the stores both in Brunswick & Topsham are clean, but so are the Walmart stores. read more

This is a decentish supermarket. Sort of like a Safeway - you can get your basic necessities, its pretty clean, it doesn't necessarily have anything exotic or unique. Why should it really, it is in a predominantly college town and really only needs to stock beer, chips, Easy Mac, drinks to mix with alcohol, ramen and candy to do well around here. At least that is all I used to buy at Hannaford. Don't go here expecting some kind of fancy pants Harris Teeter or something exotic. Its a pretty normal grocery store that has the basics and I would describe it as "just fine." They sometimes had an OK beer selection and we could try something new, and always fit my needs. I do agree with an earlier reviewer that Rite Aid has a better pharmacy though. read more

I'm a Hannaford fan but this location is kind of sketchy. Every time I've been at this location staff arn't all that happy and some of the customer's are a little odd......might actually be the Stores location that hinders it. I would recommend going to the Topsham location or hit Shaws. read more

This Hannaford is conveniently located but because it is close to Bowdoin College and it is usually very crowded. While they are great at keeping items stocked, they are constantly blocking isles at ALL times of the day to do so. This can make it even more difficult to maneuver through the crowd. Most of the staff is friendly and upbeat. Only once have I encountered a rude person working at the deli, but in their defense they seemed overwhelmed by a huge group that had formed. read more
