Best grocery store in Brunswick. Despite having two Hannaford, Shaw's is the best grocery store in Brunswick. The pharmacy staff is the best and super helpful. The produce and meat are great. They've been doing a ton of work to get their prices lower or comparable to other stores. The store is never overly crowded, and they always have registers open (wince they don't have self checkout). Also- the to 1 star review about a package- your issue is with FedEx- not Shaw's. They're just a drop off location, and the only one in the area. If it needed to be delivered that day, you needed to bring it to FedEx in Auburn, at their actual location. That's on you. read more

So I work at a grocery store, so I know the proper way to handle cold foods. A woman pushed a cart full of seafood from her area to the meat area to wrap the products on her cart. So from her area to the meat area they had seafood, uncovered going through the store floor. Totally turned me off and I would never buy any products they wrap and sell in store. read more

I dropped an important Federal Express Package off at Shaw's in Brunswick, it needed to be delivered today, so I paid for overnight shipping, and was assured it would be picked up at 4:30pm yesterday. When the lawyer didn't receive my box today, they called me. I had to go back to Shaw's, pick up my $75 overnight box, drive to Portland, bring this to FEDEX, have them adjust the shipping, and now it will be delivered on Tuesday (due to the holiday.) I have never seen such disregard for a customer, when I specifically said it needed to go out yesterday, and when it didn't? No phone call, nothing. This has cost me late fees, a drive to Portland, time off work. If Shaw's wants to make this right, they should leave a comment on how to reach them. At the end of August you would expect to have native corn at Shaws, if it was they need a different supplier, worst I've ever had. Forced to use their ridiculous digital coupon process to get sale prices, limited amount, and usually a limited supply. Worst store in the area. read more

Went to the store to get my Weeks's food They had at the deli buy a pound of deli meat and get a pound of cheese Asked for the cheese and was given a pre. The only thing good about this store is the occasional decent sales they have but unfortunately they run out of the sale items so fast and the shelves look bare. The produce is a joke. It's so sad and depressing, not to mention way overpriced. I cannot believe the horrible quality and what they expect people to pay for it! The good stuff gets grabbed up and not re-stocked or rotated! Like, how does this happen? Why do they not reduce old or nasty produce? The manager and produce manager should be embarrassed. The only reason I come here is because it's across the street basically from my current house.... But I never have any sort of high expectations. I grab the couple things I need and go. If the produce was handled better and the advertised items weren't ordered so lightly I would spend way more money here. I feel safer going to this grocer over the others in Brunswick during Covid. I admit I usually go here to get items you don't find elsewhere, or when forced to shop at peak hours as it's not the busiest of the three major Grocers in town. Pro's are.. Bigger entrances with multiple open, less traffic and public interaction. There are some narrow isles, but the store is easier to navigate around others. No dirty self checkouts. Self checkouts are the future, but until they're touch-less, they're public contact points. I'm sure Shaw's is planning to implement some eventually. Maybe they'll be the first to add customer service, services, to every new manned checkout, in addition to self checkouts with digital only payment/touch less. read more

The produce is oftentimes wilted, dry, or out-of-date. The seafood department is very good and well managed. The "express" lanes are a pathetic joke; the clerks are under strict orders NOT to try to enforce the "10 items or fewer" rule and, as a result, many people know that and ignore the limit. Why allow check writing in an express lane?! Why does a clerk have to leave the register, go find the one key for the cigarettes, locate the brand, return the key, and wander back to the register? read more

My regular grocery store, I'm very happy with the produce freshness and selection as well as the general store contents and availability. Would definitely recommend them for your typical shopping needs! read more

I've been a loyal customer of the Brunswick's Shaws store. Recently tried their " Drive Up and Go" service. Meh. I ordered and paid for paper towels that were not brought out in my order. I feel cheated by my cereal purchase today. Computer and shelf prices are often incorrect or hard to figure out.

Usually it's not a bad store. Today, I was waiting in a lane with the light on, the girl turned it off and said she was closed. Went to another line and stood there for 20 min waiting to check out while the cashier chatted with the girl behind her. Then proceeds to say how much she thinks she has to go to the bathroom. The said they were low on staff. That happens, been there done that. Take 1 or 2 of the 4 people collecting carts and bring them in. read more

This Shaws has a decent selection of goods and especially hard liqueur if thats your thing. They also have a walk in Beer Cave with all the best beer's like PBR and Bud Light! read more

Easily one of the most poorly managed grocery stores I have ever seen. Frequently out of products or products are not sufficiently stocked on shelves, including produce. Understaffed in numerous departments. Frequent errors in ringing up items. Today arrived at store only to find that there were no shopping carts at either entrance. Most shopping carts, when available, are damaged or broken. Have complained numerous times to local manager and regional office with no improvements. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. Got two IDs declined because I'm from out of town. Has a bar code on the back and everything. Said they couldn't scan or refused to, they were all too happy to decline me and my wife's purchases. Check-out person Justina, was all to happy to decline our official, state issued IDs that we used to purchase plane tickets with, but somehow weren't good enough to get a 6 pack from 'shaws'. Won't be going back there ever again. They seem to enjoy giving every person a difficult time checking out. They even make you bag your own groceries if you have an especially large amount to buy. Terrible. Terrible, incompetent staff that don't even have the common sense to scan an ID to verify its authenticity. Save yourself the aggravation if you're from out of town go to hannafords. I really like Shaws. I find that the Brunswick, Me. Shaws is convenient, clean and very friendly. They need a bit of a better selection of Organic foods and that could be organized a bit better. But I love the store, prices and people! read more

I think shaws is awful . my bad for not checking dates there bad for putting it on the shelf's . I alone bought 3 items with sell by date prior to date I bought it and items with exasperation date bad within couple days. My mother had to return $22.00 worth of food in two weeks because of same issue I've had . I and my family will never shop there again this is been an on going issue for as many years I can count back. read more
