I thought they just sold seeds and gardening supplies. However, my sister-in-law who knows I'm crazy about plants right now found a video on YouTube showing this store's newly renovated plants section. So I had to check it out. They have a lot of stuff. They have books about plants and even cute crocheted/knitted plants too. I came with 2 goals in mind. The first was to find a small terra cotta plant pot saucer (about 2" in diameter) and the second was to look at their indoor plants. I found the saucer, but it was $2.29 for one. I can get them at Dollarama for $1.50 for 3 but they are a bit bigger, like 2.5 inches. So I'm going to hold out for now. I might just end up getting the bigger ones to save some money. I enjoyed looking at their plants. They had Lithops, my favourite plant, but only green ones and reddish/orangey ones, which I already have. I'm looking for purple ones or colours I don't have already. They also had Fenestraria Rhopalophylla (Baby Toes) for only $9.99, cheaper than at most other places, but they weren't in good condition, so I passed. They had lots of string of pearls which were in excellent shape though. I found it odd that some plants were thriving while others were in rough shape. Anyway, I had fun poking around the store. I'm going to return with my husband to check out their organic vegetable seeds. He's in charge of our backyard vegetable garden ;) Lots of free parking available in their private parking lot. A snow plow had deposited a huge barrier of rain soggy snow across the driveway. Knowing that my daughter would soon be arriving home and would be unable to drive in off the street, I attempted to move the snow. It was so heavy that I could not lift it high enough to get it onto the lawn and out of the way. A small tractor with Budd Perennials written on the side, drove by, reversed, came back, and quickly scraped the area clear. I was unable to thank the driver for this kind deed. I am impressed with the attitude of service offered by this business, and look forward to purchasing plants for my garden when Spring arrives!

we purchased clean sand for our above ground pool and was very disappointed when we found several…read morelarge to small rocks in it. we pulled them out but now since the water is now in the pool some rocks are protruding, we found four more and some very sharp. we have to remove the water and pull back the liner to remove the rocks. I'm very disappointed, this will cost us a few hundred dollars since we have to purchase more water. after complain to the company all they said was it's not their fault it's where they buy their sand. My experience here floored me completely. Consider: I live in California, and had left my mothers…read morebirthday (she lives in Ottawa) to the very last minute. I call up the day before sheepishly wondering whether I could get "Something nice" delivered the next day. The woman on the other end explained that most of the deliveries they did were for interlocking stone, and that it would probably be unreasonably pricey to have some flowers or a plant delivered. But wait: where did my mother live? And what exactly was I looking for? Long story short: an inexplicably kind woman named Sam, and her horticulturalist friend Sierra, Not only helped me figure out what I wanted (here I was the stereotypical clueless male), but also sussed out that Sam lived near my parents, and would be happy to take several plants home with her, and to deliver the goods the morning of my mother's birthday. If you can believe it, there's actually a good deal more to the feel good story, but suffice to say that Sam's kindness left my head spinning. My teenaged daughter overheard to a good bit of the conversation I had when making my order, and remarked: "Canadians are always so nice". Yeah, maybe, but still: that kind of spirit is hard to find.

They welcomed me as I entered and let me know they were available if I needed anything, but I was left to browse on my own, which I prefer anyway. I enjoyed looking around. They had several Curly Bonnie Spider Plants, and I admired how they were so compact and curly, while mine at home is a bit unruly with some straight leaves poking out, lol. I wanted a cute plant with the pot .. and realized the pots are hand made and ceramic. It's a small local shop in Ottawa and it was super fabulous. The service was alright.. not very welcoming at first and they were pretty annoyed to see a customer and took a while to get help. The actual pot is a lil pricey but the plants are decently priced. The pot was like 42$ and plants varried between 5-13$ I got the Pink lady / callisia it was so beautiful and fell in love with it. Had to get it .. overall it a beautiful place but maybe get your pots / ceramics somewhere else as they're quite expensive !!

The Long Version: We are looking for a new sink for our laundry room, so stopped by this Home Depot to look at sinks. They had a few options which we are considering. Since I recently started getting into plants, I also took a look at their indoor plants section. It was March and the selection was not bad. The plants were in ok shape in general. No plants looked in really rough shape like I saw at the RONA down the street. However, I was looking for a Pilea Peperomioides and they had quite a few at a good price ($7.99), but none nice and healthy enough that I wanted to take home. They all had some scarred, yellowing or dead leaves. They had some cute succulents though that I would have gotten if I was in the market for them at the time. Plants at big box stores don't usually get the best care, but they are much cheaper than at speciality shops, so that's the trade-off. Plants, aside, this Home Depot location is really big and has all the usual items you need for home improvement projects. The washrooms here were exceptionally clean during my visit and I like how the exit door is a push and not a pull. I hate having to pull a handle after I have freshly washed my hands, lol. He wasted the paint, told me that he couldn't mix a quart because it doesn't fit in the machine and it wasn't the right size??!! Home Depot should really invest more time into training their staff or not leaving staff that are un knowledgable and unable to do their job to serve the public. Thankfully, we were able to get help at the neighbouring Rona.. Gabe at Rona is super knowledgable and outstanding and knows a lot about paint unlike those working at Home Depot.

In fact, on the second delivery, the driver said, "it's me again!" LOL Both lovely bouquets had tea roses, gerberas, and one had lilies, both with some greenery. One was in a basket with sponges supporting the blooms, and the other was in a blue glass vase. The flowers were not highly scented. I found the one with sponges hard to water as it doesn't seem absorbent. They recommend cutting 2 inches off each bloom every second day. All this to say I was very happy to receive the flowers; they really cheered me up.
