Reasonable prices and it's one of those shops you will find random things that you don't know where to go for. I always wondered why there are so few reviews for such a popular retailer. I discovered recently it's because they don't allow any critical or negative reviews - even the slightest ones on their website. I wrote one review for a product that was moderately critical and it never showed up on their website. I recently submitted a 3 star review for a mini excavator I paid $10,000 for. The purpose was to provide them and their customers an honest opinion of what I liked and disliked about it so prospective purchasers could make an informed buying decision. After a couple of days, I got this email from them: " Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time!" So what's the point of sharing if honest reviews aren't allowed??? I rely on reviews to make informed purchases. I would have expected more from Princess Auto.

The Long Version: We are looking for a new sink for our laundry room, so stopped by this Home Depot to look at sinks. They had a few options which we are considering. Since I recently started getting into plants, I also took a look at their indoor plants section. It was March and the selection was not bad. The plants were in ok shape in general. No plants looked in really rough shape like I saw at the RONA down the street. However, I was looking for a Pilea Peperomioides and they had quite a few at a good price ($7.99), but none nice and healthy enough that I wanted to take home. They all had some scarred, yellowing or dead leaves. They had some cute succulents though that I would have gotten if I was in the market for them at the time. Plants at big box stores don't usually get the best care, but they are much cheaper than at speciality shops, so that's the trade-off. Plants, aside, this Home Depot location is really big and has all the usual items you need for home improvement projects. The washrooms here were exceptionally clean during my visit and I like how the exit door is a push and not a pull. I hate having to pull a handle after I have freshly washed my hands, lol. Matt was able to identify the parts required without my being able to find the bill (which was no longer available in their sales records either). Once Matt had told me what to look for in my old bills, I found a copy of the bill, and Matt ordered the parts under AS warranty, so they arrived free of charge at my door. So I knew that I would love Mergi Shop. It's been open for a while, but I only recently made my way down there. It's in a rougher part of town, hence the bars on the windows. Public drug use, vandalism and acts of violence are common in this area, especially in the last few years. The store inside is brightly lit, clean and well-organized. Staff are friendly, greeting you as you enter, but leave you to browse on your own. If you need assistance though, they will help. I came to buy a specific Japanese mascara base (the Japanese make the best mascaras, IMO). Unfortunately, they didn't have it, but they had other items, including regular mascara of the same brand (Kiss Me Heroine Make). I got a mascara ($18.79) and decided to try their liquid eyeliner ($16.49) too, since the store was having a 10% off sale and I wanted to make my trip down there worthwhile, lol. They had lots of chips and other snacks from Asia and also imported drinks. They had mostly items from Japan and Korea that are harder to find. Not stuff from China that you can easily get at Kowloon Supermarket, Green Fresh or T&T. Their prices are very fair considering they are imported goods and rarer to find in Ottawa. Cool little convenience and grocery store that specializes in east Asian…read more Lots of snacks like cookies, chips and other things. There's a small shelf of things for your pantry. A decent selection of frozen food for such a small store. They have a lots of drinks from coffee, tea, juices and soft drinks. Surprisingly they have some cosmetics as well. Some items seem to have really high prices while others seem like they're reasonably priced or cheaper than expected I'd give this place a 3.5 if I could but rounding up Go check it out for yourself!
