TL;DR/The Short Version: Garden Centre with an indoor plants…read moresection. Lots of seeds available too. The Long Version: I didn't realize that this store had indoor plants. I thought they just sold seeds and gardening supplies. However, my sister-in-law who knows I'm crazy about plants right now found a video on YouTube showing this store's newly renovated plants section. So I had to check it out. They have a lot of stuff. They have books about plants and even cute crocheted/knitted plants too. I came with 2 goals in mind. The first was to find a small terra cotta plant pot saucer (about 2" in diameter) and the second was to look at their indoor plants. I found the saucer, but it was $2.29 for one. I can get them at Dollarama for $1.50 for 3 but they are a bit bigger, like 2.5 inches. So I'm going to hold out for now. I might just end up getting the bigger ones to save some money. I enjoyed looking at their plants. They had Lithops, my favourite plant, but only green ones and reddish/orangey ones, which I already have. I'm looking for purple ones or colours I don't have already. They also had Fenestraria Rhopalophylla (Baby Toes) for only $9.99, cheaper than at most other places, but they weren't in good condition, so I passed. They had lots of string of pearls which were in excellent shape though. I found it odd that some plants were thriving while others were in rough shape. Anyway, I had fun poking around the store. I'm going to return with my husband to check out their organic vegetable seeds. He's in charge of our backyard vegetable garden ;) Lots of free parking available in their private parking lot. Watch out for potholes. Lots of pot holes on the road leading up to the store and in their parking lot. Review #82 (2025)

I wish they had longer hours but I get it. I love that they are making native plants a huge priority, and have made not selling invasive species a thing! More nurseries could learn from them! They always have unique gifts as well and great pricing on bird seed and peanuts for local wildlife.

Nicely curated selection with prices comparable to other small plant stores. The Long Version: Fringe & Foliage is hidden in plain sight. It's in a little low-rise building across from Westgate Shopping Mall. It's on Carling Ave, which is a main street, and I've driven by it many times without even noticing it. It's sandwiched between a bridal shop and a martial arts school. The name Fringe & Foliage is not immediately visible, the description is more prominent from the street. I actually thought the store was called "Hair Salon & Plant Store" because that's what's on the sign you can see from the street, lol. I popped in one day to check out their plant selection. The plant store area is spacious and open but doesn't have that many plants. However, their selection is well curated and they have only one or two of each type of plant. The plants seem to be well cared for too. I came in specifically looking for a Pleiospilos nelli (aka Split Rock plant), the Royal Flush variety which has a purplish hue to it, which they didn't have. They did have Lithops (aka Living Stones) though, but I already have Lithops. I still enjoyed looking around the store. I was told that the owners go to Montreal to pick up new plants and post it on their Instagram when they do. So I'll be keeping an eye on their IG. They also sell cute little knickknacks, like crocheted plants, enamel pins and stickers of street signs of streets in the neighbourhood. It's a cute store. And staff were pleasant. My experience here floored me completely. Consider: I live in California, and had left my mothers…read morebirthday (she lives in Ottawa) to the very last minute. I call up the day before sheepishly wondering whether I could get "Something nice" delivered the next day. The woman on the other end explained that most of the deliveries they did were for interlocking stone, and that it would probably be unreasonably pricey to have some flowers or a plant delivered. But wait: where did my mother live? And what exactly was I looking for? Long story short: an inexplicably kind woman named Sam, and her horticulturalist friend Sierra, Not only helped me figure out what I wanted (here I was the stereotypical clueless male), but also sussed out that Sam lived near my parents, and would be happy to take several plants home with her, and to deliver the goods the morning of my mother's birthday. If you can believe it, there's actually a good deal more to the feel good story, but suffice to say that Sam's kindness left my head spinning. My teenaged daughter overheard to a good bit of the conversation I had when making my order, and remarked: "Canadians are always so nice". Yeah, maybe, but still: that kind of spirit is hard to find.

Pity the staff here are so terrible. The selection of plants is terrific! However i phoned before…read moregoing looking for a specific plant, told they had it.
