Dropped in for a coffee press today and found a very neat store with amazing prices. They carry a lot of Bodum items for prices you'd find online unlike other stores I've come across with Bodum items in Ottawa. The store has many items for the house as well as lighting and furniture. This store is an attractive, well-curated collection of overpriced bric-a-brac. There is a dearth of locations downtown where you can find stylish home decor at a reasonable price. I could not find anything I needed here and sorry but I just wasn't impressed. Whatever they did have I could easily find cheaper elsewhere. For example they had some of the on-trend oriental rugs with a faded look in the $300 range for a very small rug. You can find a much larger rug in the same style at Walmart for $100. Whatever furniture they have, you can find the same style at Jysk for a great price. If you really hunt, you can also find a gem here and there at Giant Tiger just down the street. I would never shop here and this place is not remotely useful to me. read more

I feel extra qualified to write this review because I've bought the entire gamut of stuff you can possibly get from this place. From butter dishes to telephones to purses to an entire couch. Ah yes, Zone has seen a pretty penny from this lady. They have lots of stuff for your home, including furniture, and I also find that Zone is a great place to find unique gifts for bridal showers, etc. So here's the good and the bad. The good: This place is a delight to walk through. They have a unique selection of stuff for the home, and if you like to shop you will for sure love Zone. Their HQ is in Montreal, and all the staff are fully bilingual in this location. I saw another review of this place that disparaged the customer service, but that hasn't been my experience at all. I think the staff here are friendly, knowledgeable, and just plain lovely. If you see something you want that isn't in stock, they can order it in for you (usually from Montreal). The less-than-good: Normally when I walk in and buy something, the experience is seamless. There have been a couple of occasions where I had to have something ordered in because it was out of stock. On one occasion they neglected to call me when my item arrived, so I was waiting for quite a long time before I actually got it. When we ordered our couch, the delivery service was not the greatest. Last year literally every time I went into Zone to order something there were hiccups caused by the installation of a new inventory/POS system on the back end, which makes me think maybe the staff could have been trained better. The pros of this shop far outweigh the cons, and I love to come into Zone and take a peek around every now and then. People always ask "where did you get that?" about some of the quirky items in our home, and usually the answer is "Zone, in the market!" read more

I always love coming here to look around. This is the perfect store to look for a gift, but it's also fun to just browse with nothing particular in mind. There are lots of funky decor items, like really elaborate chandeliers and quirky wall clocks. You can also find great kitchen and bath items, along with accessories (photo frames, jewelery boxes, hooks, etc.) by Umbra. They even carry jewelery, watches, and cards. This store is a whole bunch of beautiful! A Montreal-based brand, Zone is filled with lovely items for your home as well as jewelry, kitchen gadgets, and more. My sister requested we pop in here for some Christmas shopping, and I thought that a place in the Byward Market would be a tad pricey, but it was incredibly reasonable. It was packed when we came in the week before Christmas, but the store was still immaculate and the fluently bilingual staff were lovely and fun. As Tanya mentioned, there's a whack load of stuff here, so best to come in when you're not in a rush. They a sell a ton of Umbra stuff here, which I always enjoy. Loads of tasteful decor as well as a few pieces of furniture (a few lovely accent tables, chairs and small desks). They also have a ton of fun and quirky items, like an alarm clock wooden cube that runs on a clapper, adult colouring books (they were so fun!), tons of moose items, awesome accent pillows, and loads of fun kitchen gadgets. This has got to be the best place in the city to pick up a housewarming gift! I can't wait to come back again. read more

If you are considering buying a dining table from Zone, I implore you to go elsewhere. We bought specifically the Mix dining table, and it is terrible quality. For a dining table, the tabletop is FAR too sensitive. We had a table runner on top of it, and we set a warm pizza box on the table runner and it still left a light stain exactly where the pizza had sat. You could see the definition of each pizza slice on the tabletop for months. It also scratches extremely easily. If you will be using this table at all for its intended purpose, you will be forever disappointed. It looks nice, but has absolutely zero durability. Customers should also be wary of the fact that Zone does not allow any customer reviews on their website for products sold, nor do they add any type of description on their product listings suggesting the overly sensitive nature of their wares. This is all on top of the fact that we had an absolutely terrible in-store customer experience when we initially purchased the table. When we brought this up with customer service, no apology was offered, they simply said, you will be happy to know that employee is no longer with Zone. Unfortunately Zone do not stand behind the product they sell, and offer very lacklustre customer service. I tried to resolve this directly with Zone prior to writing this review, but they refused to do anything about it. I highly recommend shopping elsewhere. read more

This is a one stop shop to make any house a contemporary haven. It had very modern pieces for really fair prices. Normally at boutiques like this you find things are ridiculously priced and when you come away with one or 2 items your husband or boyfriend questions your intelligience when you tell them how much you paid for that super cool "thing", whatever it may be. This won't happen here! They have a wide range of modern pieces from clocks to chairs to mirrors to knobs for furniture. I wish I didn't live in the U.S. I would've gone crazy there! Needless to say - they have a web-site that I have already taken advantage of ;) PS - The staff wasn't especially helpful. They just kind of glanced in my direction as I oggled all of their cool stuff. PPS - There is a LOT of construction going on in this area but they're still open. Just watch out for the gravel if you're wearing heels. read more

All Barenaked Ladies jokes aside, if I really did in fact "have a million dollars", my apartment would be filled top to bottom with items from Zone. I have often popped in after a lunch in the market to do some browsing and shopping. A perfect hybrid of novelty and modern chic, the items at Zone range from handy to really, REALLY cool. With all kinds of gadgets and decor items for every room in the house, furniture and even jewelry, it is a rare occasion that I have left this Sussex shop empty handed. The best part is that the items are affordable, or at the very least reasonably priced. I was looking for a set of red wine glasses for weeks but refused to pay the ridiculous department store prices. Zone had exactly what I was looking for, and since then I have collected their drying rack, champagne glasses, white wine glasses, placemats and even some items for my bathroom. They have this fantastic reading tray meant for the bathtub, so that you can drink a glass of wine and read (or perhaps yelp!) while soaking in a bubble bath! While the staff are not usually attentive, I am an independent shopper and not bothered by this. The last thing I need to someone convincing me to buy the thousands of items that I so desperately desire! read more

I love this place!! I could have bought everything in the store, and might have if it wasn't for the fact that I only had a carry-on bag to take on the plane home. Zone carries home goods such as kitchen tools, bowls and glassware, bathroom and living room decorations, jewelry, etc. A little of everything. Stopped in this store while on a weekend visit to Ottawa a few weeks ago. Great selection of unique items. I fell in love with a set of stone coasters but wanted all 4 in the set to be the same colour shade. Monica opened 3 other sets to find the colours I wanted to make up my set. I was so impressed. Everything in here are all beautiful and reasonable prices for the home and businesses. But the costumer service of the staff is quite poor. There are many staff in the store, who all loves to talk with each other. I was in there browsing the whole store but not once was I asked If I needed any help, even when I was trying to make eye contact while being interested in a product and had questions. read more
