For a country that has so many visibly variation of different cultures how could an entire store not even have one staff member be from a different culture? In the 20 times I went staff was not helpful products were over priced and pretty much anything I buy does not last. It's like a dollar store only better marketing.

Since the store is pretty tiny, it can feel pretty crowded, especially during the weekend, which was not very pleasant, but the lines were not too bad. I knew exactly what I needed to get, so I got in and got out in a matter of 10 minutes. I have to say the cashier serving us that day was so friendly and cheerful. Bonus points for that! It is quite opposite during the weekday. I stopped in again on a Monday evening and it was pretty quiet. The cashier asked us if anyone had helped us during our visit, and that really made me think. We were never asked if we needed help finding anything on both visits. That can be a good or bad thing; if you like to shop in peace without the hassle of sales associates then rest assure, you probably wont be getting any sale pitches during your visits. The down side is, if you are having trouble finding an item and nobody has offered assistance, I can see that being frustrating; especially if there is not an associate in site. From what I noticed the associates usually keep to their selves, stocking or cleaning, so the only customer service you will probably receive is at checkout. The store carries EVERYTHING that you can possibly imagine for your home, but it will cost you a pretty penny! They do have a lot of high end items, but also have some bargain items set up at the entrance of the store. Their return policy is awesome. Apparently you can return anything, anytime, no questions asked. My advice, avoid this store on the weekend if you hate crowds. P.S.I believe they have a larger store in Barrhaven!! :)

From adorable themed ceramic salt shakers, to linen aprons, hand blown glasses in many colours, wooden cutting boards, or the tiniest most elegant set of gold cutlery -- they have it. It's the perfect shop for anyone looking to spend $15-25 on a simple gift, or to fix a problem you didn't know could be solved (like finding the perfect mess-free cookie scooper). The staff are usually friendly, though as a younger shopper I notice they tend to be more willing to chat with older shoppers rather than me. Perhaps to be expected in a home décor shop, haha.

I had to Google the name since I just think of it as "the other kitchen store" in the Glebe across from the Glebe Emporium. (Not counting CA Paradis, which is a whole different league altogether.) J.D. Adam is a gem that is easy to overlook. I went looking for a nutmeg grinder. The Emporium had one type, JDA had three (!) that were specifically for nutmeg and a range of other graters that would also work. If you are a cook, you will understand how important it is to have the right tool. If not, well, then none of this review makes any sense to you anyway. Price are good. Service is terrific. Friendly and helpful without being in your face. However, with the amount of stock they have in a small space, it is a good idea to just ask for what you need rather than hunt around. Nutmeg grater with cheese grater, not nut cracker, for example. I ended up buying microplanes and tea towels and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. (If you understood what I bought, then you should visit JD Adam yourself.)

This was done in the last week of Sept'22 - Initially we were told that it would be 10 working days from template to delivery - As of today (mid-October) we are still waiting for some kind of confirmation as to secure an install date - Too many phone calls and messages go unanswered (customer service is out the window). Reading other reviews, I can see that this has been an ongoing issue since at least 2017! - Our contractor, electrician and gas fitter are all on hold and new appliances cannot be connected (so they sit on the floor waiting for...Vesta) - They have our money but we are still waiting for our counters. I cannot recommend this company.

Communication is painful: calls go unreturned, and on the rare occasion email is returned, it is either short or unhelpful or both. When I escalated our profound unhappiness to the owner in writing, I received a cold, defensive, and curt reply. Difficult to fathom how a company that treats its customers so poorly can remain in business. Our counters were never cut properly the first or even second time - and as of this writing, still aren't. Our mistake was not heeding the cautionary advice of our (really amazing) general contractor, who stopped dealing with them twenty years ago for reasons just like this. In speaking with more trades (5-6) who have put time in on our kitchen and bath renovation, I have yet to encounter one person with a positive comment about Vesta. Perhaps most egregiously, Vesta put through a final credit card charge without authorization, before final sign off and customer acceptance and then refused to reverse the transaction upon protest and request. We are preparing a submission to the Better Business Bureau. Terribly managed company; avoid at all costs.

They sell a bunch of different kitchenware items, from knives, to pots and pans, to salt and pepper shakers, cutting boards, and other small items. They don't really have a wide selection, though. They only carry two brands of knives - Henckels and Wusthof. The store is way overpriced! And I don't mean just certain items, I mean the whole store. A small, metal tea strainer was $6 and a wooden spoon was $8, and it was made with porous wood, which is low quality. The space is also quite crowded, though this might be because of the liquidation sale they're currently having. But if they're having this huge sale, why were the prices so much higher than they should have been, ESPECIALLY during a liquidation?! I visited the store with my brother, who is a cook at a fine dining French restaurant in Toronto. He was unimpressed with their selection and prices as well, even for a small store, so I know it wasn't just me that thought so.

For being a display model it seemed overpriced but I bought it anyways. The gentleman put it in a similar box to what it came in and promptly ripped the box to make everything fit. I brought it home and examined it more closely to notice that one of the rubber pegs to make sure it doesn't slide off the counter was missing and my husband saw that it was scratched. I brought it back to the store to get a refund seeing as how it was the last one and the response I got from them was that all of the knife sets come scratched whether they are new or display and that they would only give me a store credit. I responded with that even though it was damanged they wouldnt give me my money back and that even though they gave me a $10 discount for the box being ripped they still wouldn't budge as its store policy. I paid $150 for this knife set. This store seems like a rip off to me. Now Im stuck with a store cedit and nothing in the store I want to buy. So unless you are positive you NEED something from this store and triple check to make sure it's not damaned, I would not shop there.

I thought they just sold seeds and gardening supplies. However, my sister-in-law who knows I'm crazy about plants right now found a video on YouTube showing this store's newly renovated plants section. So I had to check it out. They have a lot of stuff. They have books about plants and even cute crocheted/knitted plants too. I came with 2 goals in mind. The first was to find a small terra cotta plant pot saucer (about 2" in diameter) and the second was to look at their indoor plants. I found the saucer, but it was $2.29 for one. I can get them at Dollarama for $1.50 for 3 but they are a bit bigger, like 2.5 inches. So I'm going to hold out for now. I might just end up getting the bigger ones to save some money. I enjoyed looking at their plants. They had Lithops, my favourite plant, but only green ones and reddish/orangey ones, which I already have. I'm looking for purple ones or colours I don't have already. They also had Fenestraria Rhopalophylla (Baby Toes) for only $9.99, cheaper than at most other places, but they weren't in good condition, so I passed. They had lots of string of pearls which were in excellent shape though. I found it odd that some plants were thriving while others were in rough shape. Anyway, I had fun poking around the store. I'm going to return with my husband to check out their organic vegetable seeds. He's in charge of our backyard vegetable garden ;) Lots of free parking available in their private parking lot. Watch out for potholes. Lots of pot holes on the road leading up to the store and in their parking lot. Review #82 (2025)
