I was supposed to be a lucky customer because my order was in stock and I picked it up in 3 weeks with a rented truck. Yes but no. In a few days, the store called me and asked me if I had all the glass. It turned out one was missing. They had forgotten to give it to me, and since they repeated multiple times that a delivery service was not available, I had to rent the truck again. I told myself: "OK mistakes happen, no problem", so I rented the truck and went to pick it up. Well, the time for the installation came and guess what? WRONG GLASS, ladies and gentlemen! Waiting 1 more month only to see if they really have it in stock. Finally they called me saying they had it. I asked for compensation but they wanted to give me a store credit. A store credit?! Their store credit won't pay the rent of the truck, moreover my bathroom renovation is almost finished, only that freaking glass was missing! Am I recommending this business? Buyers, RUN AWAY from their stores! Maybe I am just an unlucky customer, or maybe they don't care at all about their customers. If it happens that you order from them, fingers crossed that they won't make a mistake with your order, because they're going to make you wait a great deal of time and make you pay for their mistakes and you are going to walk several times to their store and back to finally got what you really need. I don't recommend this business even to my enemies! My biggest mistake to shop there!

They sell a bunch of different kitchenware items, from knives, to pots and pans, to salt and pepper shakers, cutting boards, and other small items. They don't really have a wide selection, though. They only carry two brands of knives - Henckels and Wusthof. The store is way overpriced! And I don't mean just certain items, I mean the whole store. A small, metal tea strainer was $6 and a wooden spoon was $8, and it was made with porous wood, which is low quality. The space is also quite crowded, though this might be because of the liquidation sale they're currently having. But if they're having this huge sale, why were the prices so much higher than they should have been, ESPECIALLY during a liquidation?! I visited the store with my brother, who is a cook at a fine dining French restaurant in Toronto. He was unimpressed with their selection and prices as well, even for a small store, so I know it wasn't just me that thought so.

For being a display model it seemed overpriced but I bought it anyways. The gentleman put it in a similar box to what it came in and promptly ripped the box to make everything fit. I brought it home and examined it more closely to notice that one of the rubber pegs to make sure it doesn't slide off the counter was missing and my husband saw that it was scratched. I brought it back to the store to get a refund seeing as how it was the last one and the response I got from them was that all of the knife sets come scratched whether they are new or display and that they would only give me a store credit. I responded with that even though it was damanged they wouldnt give me my money back and that even though they gave me a $10 discount for the box being ripped they still wouldn't budge as its store policy. I paid $150 for this knife set. This store seems like a rip off to me. Now Im stuck with a store cedit and nothing in the store I want to buy. So unless you are positive you NEED something from this store and triple check to make sure it's not damaned, I would not shop there.

From adorable themed ceramic salt shakers, to linen aprons, hand blown glasses in many colours, wooden cutting boards, or the tiniest most elegant set of gold cutlery -- they have it. It's the perfect shop for anyone looking to spend $15-25 on a simple gift, or to fix a problem you didn't know could be solved (like finding the perfect mess-free cookie scooper). The staff are usually friendly, though as a younger shopper I notice they tend to be more willing to chat with older shoppers rather than me. Perhaps to be expected in a home décor shop, haha.

I had to Google the name since I just think of it as "the other kitchen store" in the Glebe across from the Glebe Emporium. (Not counting CA Paradis, which is a whole different league altogether.) J.D. Adam is a gem that is easy to overlook. I went looking for a nutmeg grinder. The Emporium had one type, JDA had three (!) that were specifically for nutmeg and a range of other graters that would also work. If you are a cook, you will understand how important it is to have the right tool. If not, well, then none of this review makes any sense to you anyway. Price are good. Service is terrific. Friendly and helpful without being in your face. However, with the amount of stock they have in a small space, it is a good idea to just ask for what you need rather than hunt around. Nutmeg grater with cheese grater, not nut cracker, for example. I ended up buying microplanes and tea towels and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. (If you understood what I bought, then you should visit JD Adam yourself.)

They also have chefs' uniforms and hats. Good if you're a real chef or if you want to dress up like a chef for Halloween, or for any other reason, lol. They had lots of Japanese Bento boxes, and some of those metal containers that Indian restaurants use to serve Thali. Lots of bamboo steamers too. They had beautiful lacquer boxes shaped like fish and boats that are used to serve sushi as well. The place is bright, clean, and neatly organized. I'm pretty sure it's a family run business because the couple (probably the owners) had their baby in a Jolly Jumper-like device behind the cash register (the baby was super cute by the way). Service was friendly. If you're looking for some kitchenware, give this place a try. Some of the more exotic and unusual things are expensive, but regular items are very reasonably priced. The store is in a strip mall, so there's lots of free parking. It's in the same strip mall as the newly opened Giant Tiger.

To keep it brief: * I saw an item on their website for which suppliers in US were out of stock * I placed order & PayPal converted the US dollars to Canadian currency * I get email from WKS that the item is actually out of stock...refund is issued * I get email from PayPal saying a fee of $8 was being assessed by them * WKS's website didn't say "out of stock", so WKS also refunded me the fee So, even though WKS didn't have to, they wanted to make it right by reimbursing me, a fist time customer, for the PayPal fee (which should have technically been absorbed by PayPal for an online sale that never actually took place). I will gladly buy something from this fine company in the future! Don P. Nov '22 Texas

If you are looking for something better than a hardware store box kitchen (which would be fine in some circumstances, but sometimes you need something a little extra), this is a good place to look. Their displays are beautiful, and incorporate good use of space. It's those little, finishing touches that make such a big difference, such as: access to the back of a cabinet that divides rooms, like an island, or an L-shaped counter where the back is exposed to another room. We are looking for some way to add a little more storage to our house, specifically the kitchen, without losing the integrity of the space. We wandered around Laurysen looking for ideas; it would be very tempting to replace the kitchen entirely! I need to go back again, to look at the selection in the lower level. This is an excellent show room for anyone who likes to see things in person, as opposed to shopping from a catalogue.

Heck, I still don't have the correct nobs on my drawers (and I had NO nobs until I got pissy and they sent someone out to slap random handles on until they can get their act together)! Multiple days taken off work - and at times, for some guy to come out and literally do nothing ... seriously. Nothing. I would expect this from a low budget company, but Laurysen isn't cheap. 60% down payment over 5 moths ago to get it all started, and they WOULD NOT even unload the cabinets from the truck upon delivery without the next 30% deposit. I haven't even mentioned the 3 garbage cans (which I filled) of material that was left in my garage after installation. Love the look of the kitchen, but in hindsight, I would have negotiated the payment plan better to withhold 20-30% of final payment ... that might actually motivate this company to be a little more punctual with finishing its job.

I hired the Home Depot to install a new toilet in November 2023. The home depot sub contracts toilet installs to another company (Quick Contractors). They sent a guy with no experience to install the toilet. The installer installed the toilet incorrectly and on an angle. The toilet leaked and caused thousands of damage to the floor and ceiling below. I have been given the run around from Home Depot and Quick Contractors to repair the damage. These two big companies decided to pass off all responsibility to the installers private insurance who has been ignoring my emails and calls. I have informed both companies there has been no progress or resolution in site. The contractors private insurance has claimed they have not accepted fault for the damage yet, even though it has been made clear the installer was at fault. A 2nd installer was sent out from Quick Contractors to reinstall the toilet and report back on what caused the damage. The 2nd installer clearly stated the leak was from improper installation and took pictures. Attached are photos of the toilet installed on an angle and the water leaking out of the base soaking a drop cloth. If you think hiring a big company like Home Depot will have your back with any warranty issues think again. My house is supposed to be on the market for sale but will be delayed until the repairs are final.
