I have a friend who swears by this store and is always coming here to get supplies for her knitting. Wool N' Things carries great patterns and I always envy the sweaters that I see in the pictures! I am not a knitter myself, but do come from a family that knits and can appreciate the work that would go into some of these patterns. One thing that I might consider at Wool N' Things is one of their courses! They can teach you how to knit or crochet accessories and clothes in one of their onsite classrooms. You have to buy materials at the store, but they help you select the right wool and teach you how to read the pattern as well. They also have a group the "Knit Cafe" that meets a couple of times a week to work together. A friendly place with service offered in both English and French.

I have no idea why she wouldn't let me buy the thing, and just risk returning it, which is what I wanted to do. Apparently, they don't want to take my money. So then I came back, I was right about the dimensions all along, but now they didn't have the size I needed anymore. An employee asked to help, i said "NO". Also, they don't give discounts to people who work at the mall, which some places do, so at this point I gave up. I won't come here in the future. And the quality of the yarns they carry, from commercial production to indie dyers is top notch. And then there is the luxurious spinning roving and sliver. This is where my heart lay . I didn't even know the name of this particular material, but I found a pic of what I needed. Upon entering the store, I was greeted by a friendly staff member who pointed me in the right direction. The person I needed to speak with was with another customer. I was offered a chair while I waited. Once served, she knew exactly what I needed. Brought the roll of material out, measured, cut it, wrote up the invoice. At the cash, the person that initially greeted me punched in the numbers and processed my payment. And then, what happened, will keep me coming back to this store every time I need more material. SHE THANKED ME FOR MY PATIENCE. All businesses need to take note of this. This is how customer service should be.

They have an excess of shiny, slippery and sheer fabrics, some solid and some nicely patterned cotton sateens, a few flannel/fleece options, lace/cut-outs, linings, and other stuff. I don't recall if they had knits or not. Warning to people under 5'7": you may have trouble reaching fabric on the top shelf in their fashion fabric area. EIther bring a tall friend or be prepared to wait for a shop assistant to help you out. When I went (4 Feb 2013) they were having a 50% off everything sale (with selected bolts at 80% off!) so if you're lucky you'll get there during a sale.

I was shocked today to see how big the shop is! Gone is the office space, in order to display more yarn! They have a humongous amount of squishy delight! Susoss is upstairs on Bank Street just south of the Parliament buildings. I noticed the shop (it is…read morejust a doorway with stairs leading up) one day as I was shopping along Bank. They had really nice knit sweaters on display on the stairs and exotic music playing. I went up the stairs and was treated to a real international treat. If you have traveled around the world, you would immediately recognize many of the products on display - the Buddha statues, the silk wall hangings, the incense, the jewelry, the clothes. I saw much of it while traveling around Bali and the Philippines. It was a treat to see it again - but I was surprised how much more it costs here than over there. The ornately carved picture frames were hundreds of dollars. One very large frame was over a thousand. I could have bought much of these goods for a fraction of these costs. But, at least you wouldn't have to pay for the air fare and put up with the dozens of hours of air travel. The store also sells a variety of pants and shirts all made of cotton or hemp. So, if this sounds like the kind of thing you are into, check out Susoss.

Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Of special note for the model train community is their train expert who does repairs, upgrades and general maintenance at reasonable rates. Those products aren't my particular area of expertise so I can't comment on their specifics. I do know, however, that they have a good selection of tools and scenery items available if you're into tabletop gaming. Basically every hobby tool you could need, they have, as well as an okay selection of paint as well (they are missing some of the ultra-high quality acrylic brands used for wargames, e.g. p3, vgc, citadel). I went in looking specifically for some terrain items from the Woodland Scenics brand and they have a ton of those in stock. Their prices for those items (flock, bushes, etc.) are also very good as well, beating both Amazon and Wal-Mart. There's also a bunch of other items in the store (puzzles, magazines, other collectibles) that I didn't really pay close attention to. Overall, it looks like a great place to go for a wide selection of general hobby supplies.
