Traffic is hell on Merivale but its your typical Toys R Us. The store can be very untidy at times.

If you have kids, then you know that finding a great kids clothing store is SO important. The store…read moremust be easily accessible (hey, strollers are hell to steer), offer clothes that make your kid look cool (got to impress the other parents), and it must be cheap, cheap, cheap! I found such a place at Billings Bridge Mall - Growing Kids. The clothes are really hip (a mini Sens jersey anyone???) and they have these pretty princess dresses for your little princess!!! The prices are very cool and they have sales all the time. The day I went in, everything was 25% off! It is around the corner from the LCBO and near the exit by Independent Grocery.

Went to Growing Kids today for the first time and was very pleasantly impressed. I wanted to get my…read moredaughter a nice dressy Easter dress as we are going to a swanky restaurant hotel on Easter day for brunch. We found two dresses at the store that we both fell in love with and a bonus was that they had all the accessories to go with her outfit. Nice white nylons and the sales assistant, Evelyn, helped my daughter try on a variety of different shoes. The prices were very reasonable and there was no hard sell. Evelyn, really took the time to connect with my daughter and find out what we both were looking for. She took a lot of care wrapping the special dresses in clothes bags and making sure that my daughter felt very special too. We had a super girls time in this store and will definitely consider coming back when we are looking for dressy clothes on another occasion. Saw lots of nice duds for the boys here too. Thanks Evelyn you are one of the stars in Ottawa retail.

Way too overpriced, my friend bought seven small item's and it added up to a total of $32.69 and…read morethey taxed them twice. Rude manager. People come here to shop if they don't receive a high salary, but the pricing is the same as any other store, they price it like everything is new. Everything is donated it's not like they buy it from a company and price it for more, they get everything for free. If they price everything lower it's not like they're losing money because they did not buy any of the thing's they sell. The receipt and a few of the items my friend bought attached. These small things should not even be this much. The tax at the bottom, they taxed my friend two times, 8% and 5% which still adds to 13%, so why not just write the 13% and tax once.

I was shopping at the Value Village location on Merivale in Ottawa on July 8, 2025. I filled 2 bags…read moreof baby/toddler clothes for $12.99 each that were just put out from the wire bins. All clothes were size newborn to size 3, and did not include outerwear or dresses, that I was told were excluded. At the cash, an employee dumped the bags and went through all the pieces 1 by 1. She removed approximately 10 items for no good reason. Saying they should have been priced individually. 1 item was a pair of Sears pink corduroy overalls in an infant size. Another item was a Polo Ralph Lauren shirt size 2. All this happened after waiting in a lineup of over 30 people and a shortage of staff. I should have left it all. I'm reporting this to the Better Business Bureau. Staff are just making up random reasons why baby clothes cannot be in the bag. I don't plan to shop here again.

Winners - Socks in the cutest packaging, lol. Great for gifting!

I love Winners. Sure, it's a chain, but each store is different. Items change all the time. It's…read morejust a question of timing and whether you land what you want during your visit. I enjoy visiting Winners and not having anything that I truly need to buy. That's what happened when I stopped by this store. I found a bottle of Seche Vite, but it was the gel-like top coat version that I have never tried before. I do my nails and like a fast-drying top coat. As luck would have it, I was in the purse section and saw a purple Kipling purse that was both compact and on sale. $10 off the regular price?! Yes, it's mine! I was so pleased with this purchase. It's not every day when you snatch the perfect small purse for $25. This Winners, in particular, has the most extensive selection of records (vinyl for those who didn't grow up with a record player) that I have ever seen. I was impressed and spent some time flipping through all the titles. The gourmet food section is great. I found vegan candy, lots of tea varieties, and more. The checkout line seemed long, but it moved quickly. I purchased my fine items and left happy. (232)

I love Winners, and always find at least ONE thing to bring home. I usually stop by this location…read moreonce a week. Unfortunately, every time I have been stopping by, the shelves have been sparse, and almost empty, with the same products sitting on the shelves week after week. The turnover on the products have not been great at all. I love how they have a jewelry counter, but its always difficult to get merchandise shown to you because the one staff working that counter is always swamped, or with another customer. Sometimes you have to wait around 5+ minutes to see something. I usually give up and walk away and return when the customers have left the counter. The juniors section has had the same clothes sitting on the racks for the last few weeks. I am guessing the reason is because it is between seasons. I have rarely had a problem with customer service, although recently the cashier charged me twice for a shirt, but that was because we were having so much fun chatting about leg warmers. :) I noticed on my receipt when I got home about the double charge, and called the store and was told that I just need to bring in my receipt and it will all be taken care of. The hubby did so for me the next day, and the cashier tried to put up a fight, but it was all taken care of in the end. The line ups at the checkout are not too bad during the week, but you can be waiting in line for a while during the weekend. Although I prefer the Bayshore Winners, this location is a quick fix for me, and sometimes I find some really great finds here.
