When I visited the Trainyards for the first time, the first store that I hit was Michaels. I parked…read morewithin a few feet from the main doors and walked in. As with most Michaels stores, this one is huge and spacious. It has a ton of aisles and I can never figure out where the calligraphy section is. I feel like I need a map of the store. I did like the silicone moulds. I bought a couple of dog-themed ones for a friend. You can either make ice cubes or bake in them, or anything that suits your needs. I love the flexibility! I relived my youth by seeing Spirograph and macrame kits. I ended up getting a crocheting kit that was on sale. I like picking up a skill and crocheting, it is. Speaking of sale, there are a lot of bins with items that have been heavily discounted. I recommend checking them out. I was heading towards the checkout and a frazzled woman approached me. She looked at me and said, "Oh, you don't look like you work here." I was wearing a Snoopy t-shirt. Um, no. She decided to interrupt a transaction between a customer in front of me and the cashier to ask her question. This woman got her answer and I could tell that she was going to head in my direction and bump into me without watching where she was going. I held my crochet kit, which served as a shield. Yep, she plowed into it while I said to her, "Don't ram into me." Too much drama for a visit to a Michaels store, I tell ya! Anyway, the cashier was so sweet, apologizing. She asked me whether I had signed up for Michaels. I don't shop here all that often and said that I didn't think so. Well, after she looked up my phone number, it turns out that I am. Nice! I paid and walked out with my crochet kit, and my two silicone moulds. It's a good store, but watch out for the occasional weird shopper. (266)

This is a big, new, clean Michaels. I've been here a handful of times and usually fin what I am…read morelookin got most recently I was looking for Sharpie oil-based paint pens, and they had them! though they weren't located near the other non-Sharpie brand version of the same thing, so that was kind of annoying. It's also annoying - at this location and at other Michaels locations in general - that they don't have more cashiers working. I feel like I've wasted the prime years of my life waiting to pay for overpriced craft items at Michaels. Come on Michaels, give me my youth back. Whatever, where else am I going to find obscure crafting items?

Wow! What took me so long to come in here? Then when I do, it's mere moments before closing! On the…read moreother hand, maybe that's a good thing, as I can then only do so much damage to the wallet! I can understand why quilters get such a stash too... very tempting, although I don't sew much. This shop has a section for yarn, but the quilting and sewing side has more variety in it. I was tempted by a lovely apron, which is funny because I don't ever wear one! Maybe I would though... if it looked like this, and if I made it myself! They offer some upscale yarns in here that were heaven to sink my hands into. I managed to walk away with "only" 2 skeins, which will be for a project for me; I'm thinking mittens, but we shall see. I recently purchased the new knitting book called "Saltwater Mittens", which contains patterns that are supposed to represent Newfoundland, and I'm just itching to get going on a few of these patterns! They have a knit-night on Wednesday evenings from 5:00 to 8:00. Now that it's on my radar, I will keep this in mind so that I can spend more time looking around. And oh yeah, knitting! LOL I will definitely be back.
