This is one of my favourite Local Yarn Shops (LYS) in the Ottawa area... I'm surprised I have not yet written a review before now. When you go into this shop, it's really hard to come out empty handed. Lots of variety in yarns - it's hard to make a choice and still keep to your budget! I'm trying to be on a "yarn diet" (not buying any yarn unless I seriously need it!) - but sock yarn always manages to wiggle its way into my shopping basket as I knit socks all year round (they're small enough to be portable and not too hot to knit in summer, and keep your feet warm in winter). Our last visit was no different! A wonderful sock yarn made it into my bag. That will be soon on the agenda, as it's summer colours. I alternate though, knitting a pair for hubby then a pair for me - and repeat!
They offer all kinds of classes - knitting, crochet, yarn spinning and weaving, and even macrame! They also host a list of special events, like weekly sip and stitch sessions and bi-weekly knit nights. Wabi Sabi is even doing a knit along of a pattern called "Ranunculus" which is all the rage at this time (this is the name of the knitting pattern but also the name of a fabulous flowering bush - pattern by Midori Hirose; I saw a woman wearing one just last night at the Ottawa Knitting Guild! The pattern is intriguing because you can choose to make it long or short sleeve; longer in the body or shorter; loose fitting or fitted; etc.)
I will definitely be back! read more
