Wow! What took me so long to come in here? Then when I do, it's mere moments before closing! On the…read moreother hand, maybe that's a good thing, as I can then only do so much damage to the wallet! I can understand why quilters get such a stash too... very tempting, although I don't sew much. This shop has a section for yarn, but the quilting and sewing side has more variety in it. I was tempted by a lovely apron, which is funny because I don't ever wear one! Maybe I would though... if it looked like this, and if I made it myself! They offer some upscale yarns in here that were heaven to sink my hands into. I managed to walk away with "only" 2 skeins, which will be for a project for me; I'm thinking mittens, but we shall see. I recently purchased the new knitting book called "Saltwater Mittens", which contains patterns that are supposed to represent Newfoundland, and I'm just itching to get going on a few of these patterns! They have a knit-night on Wednesday evenings from 5:00 to 8:00. Now that it's on my radar, I will keep this in mind so that I can spend more time looking around. And oh yeah, knitting! LOL I will definitely be back.

In our yarn area we feature Canadian Hand Dyers in a variety of yarn bases and weights. We have dyers represented from Western Canada, Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes. We still support the quilters among you with fabrics, thread, notions, patterns, classes and Bernina sewing machine sales and service. Longarm quilting services are available from “The English Rose”. What’s new you say? If you are into knitting/crochet, you will be pleased to know that we now carry beautiful materials, patterns, notions and classes for you as well! I don't shop for fabric very often. Actually it's close to never. But, on this particular occasion,…read moreI needed something very specific, and the only place of, other than a specialty packing supply company was C&M. I didn't even know the name of this particular material, but I found a pic of what I needed. Upon entering the store, I was greeted by a friendly staff member who pointed me in the right direction. The person I needed to speak with was with another customer. I was offered a chair while I waited. Once served, she knew exactly what I needed. Brought the roll of material out, measured, cut it, wrote up the invoice. At the cash, the person that initially greeted me punched in the numbers and processed my payment. And then, what happened, will keep me coming back to this store every time I need more material. SHE THANKED ME FOR MY PATIENCE. All businesses need to take note of this. This is how customer service should be.

Decent size store. Half is home dec, half is fashion. It was fairly tidy, though the shop…read moreassistants I came across all smelled of cigarette smoke. The fashion bolts I looked at ranged from $16/m cotton to $100/m wool. They have an excess of shiny, slippery and sheer fabrics, some solid and some nicely patterned cotton sateens, a few flannel/fleece options, lace/cut-outs, linings, and other stuff. I don't recall if they had knits or not. Warning to people under 5'7": you may have trouble reaching fabric on the top shelf in their fashion fabric area. EIther bring a tall friend or be prepared to wait for a shop assistant to help you out. When I went (4 Feb 2013) they were having a 50% off everything sale (with selected bolts at 80% off!) so if you're lucky you'll get there during a sale.

Three and a half stars, if I could, or maybe 4-stars if just for enthusiasm! But overall, the store…read moreis smaller and darker than I thought it would be. The staff is knowledgeable, and very helpful, and obviously knows their way around with needle and thread. I had heard of this place by word of mouth, over the years, through Knitting Guild members and other knitty and crafty friends, and more recently, they've joined up with the Guild to offers a bit of a discount if you're a Guild member (terrific! Every little bit helps!!) between what I've heard and recent advertising on Facebook, I really wanted to see what's up in here. It's in the same building as the coffee shop (Bridgehead), but for some reason we passed it the first time we drove by, and eventually parked on a side street. There is meter parking in front of the shop, with a two hour max. We were greeted by a friendly store clerk, who answered our questions, and pointed us in the direction of the buttons, which was the main reason I wanted to visit the shop. The clerk told us that the "wall of buttons" I had been told about had been reconfigured to let more light into the shop, and as a result you could see the buttons better (I can vouch this is true). We looked around at the materials for ideas, but I settled on a few buttons for my collection. We found some marvellous moose impressions on what may or may not be pewter. Whatever... I love moose! Be warned, though: the buttons were not cheap! I picked up 12 buttons for $24.87. But they did offer a section of discount cuttings at $2 each, that would no doubt entice the quilters among us! One last note, before closing my review: the clerk, it turns out, also sews his own clothes, and advised us that the also offer sewing classes. As you walk in the store, the "shop" part is to the left; just to the right is a little boutique or studio, with some clothes hanging on a rack and a fitting room - but these are not your typical "off the rack", these items were sewn in the back third of the space, where I gather you might take the sewing classes. I will bear that in mind, as I would actually like to sew more than I do. Look out, though! I can see how this might be another stash building experience! I really don't need another hobby, as much as I need projects than can be finished. Maybe in my retirement...?

Maybe I am new to yelp (well, i am not but i just never paid attention i guess), but i was shocked…read morewhen I saw that this little gem of a store only had 3/5 stars according to Yelp! There are a few more reviews that are not showing up util you click on "other reviews" and they are all 5/5... The one 3/5 star review was very positive in my eyes.. but thats for another debate. This store is, to me, 5 stars all around! I am an occasional sewer and have always turned to Darrell Thomas Textiles for all of my sewing needs. The owner and staff have been amazing and extremely helpful in all of my sewing projects, in finding the right fabric or in troubleshooting what I am doing wrong. I have taken a few classes offered by Darrel Thomas Textiles before the pandemic and had follow-up questions after class when doing my home projects... the team at the store were always helpful, assisted in identifying the issue and what I needed to do to solve them and make my project 100% better - your projects dont look homemade but look professional, couldnt be more happy! The collection of product is phenomenal!! Quality is definitely something Darrell Thomas Textiles prides themselves with and it shows... I recently discovered their knits collections to make t-shirts and casual-wear and I am paradise! I have tried other fabric stores in the region, small independents ones and did not find they compared with Darrell Thomas Textiles, either from a selection or quality perspective. I have found myself returning times and again to this little gem and never have been disappointed. I have also been ordering fabric and patterns during the pandemic and the store has provided delivery services (they have recently moved from their little Italy location and delivery has made it easier to get my sewing needs fix), and curb-side pickup! If your subscribe to their newsletter, the owner often sends discount codes and specials which makes the product a steal! 100% recommended to new and seasoned sewers
