The bushes are gone, but the space is crying for new items to display there, although I have now planted a few smaller items. Those wild rose bushes are impossible to find in the stores! Lowes has them planted in the parking lot, but none in the store. The staff doesn't even know what I'm asking for! At least I could show them... ... Which is more than I could say for Richmond Nursery. :-( There are no wild rose bushes in the nursery or nearby. They had a lot of other stuff which was ok, but not what I want. Mind you, the nursery is quite big, and the staff was helpful trying to find something that might be suitable. For me, the rose bushes they had on offer were nice, but were about $30.00 each, which is more than I want to pay when I'd need 4 or 5 to fill the space. So, I'm still looking...

The Long Version: Given the name of the store, I expected more strange and unusual plants, but I had actually taken a look at their website before coming in, so I knew they didn't have Conophytums or other exotic Mesembs, but I still wanted to stop by to take a look. They may have had some unusual non-succulents, but I'm not particularly familiar nor interested in those types of plants, lol. The store is nicely arranged and staff were pleasant. They welcomed me as I entered and let me know they were available if I needed anything, but I was left to browse on my own, which I prefer anyway. I enjoyed looking around. They had several Curly Bonnie Spider Plants, and I admired how they were so compact and curly, while mine at home is a bit unruly with some straight leaves poking out, lol. They had some pretty pots, but they were a bit pricey for my budget ($14 for a small 2.5 inch pot). Plants looked well cared for. Street parking only. Review #119 (2025)

I wanted a cute plant with the pot .. and realized the pots are hand made and ceramic. It's a small local shop in Ottawa and it was super fabulous. The service was alright.. not very welcoming at first and they were pretty annoyed to see a customer and took a while to get help. The actual pot is a lil pricey but the plants are decently priced. The pot was like 42$ and plants varried between 5-13$ I got the Pink lady / callisia it was so beautiful and fell in love with it. Had to get it .. overall it a beautiful place but maybe get your pots / ceramics somewhere else as they're quite expensive !!

I can't believe I've never reviewed Lee Valley Tools! This store is one of my husband's favourite…read morestores. It sells tools, gardening supplies, and gadgets for the house. They have a limited amount of inventory that they display in the store. The rest of their items are in their warehouse. You look through their catalog using their on-site computers and it will tell you if the item you want is on display (if that's the case, you just find it and get it and check out) or in their warehouse. If it's in their warehouse, you jot down the item number and bring it to the staff and they will get it for you from the warehouse. I am totally going to date myself by saying this, but the set up is a little bit like the now defunct Consumers Distributing. Does anyone remember that store? Lol. They were much more low tech back then of course, you'd have to look through an actual paper catalog to find the item number, lol. Staff here are always very pleasant. They genuinely seem like they enjoy being there. They are easy-going and have a calm demeanor. The vast majority of them are in their golden years and it appears to me like it's their post-retirement gig to get out of the house and make some extra money, lol. I could be wrong, but this is my perception. The prices are on the higher end, but I find the quality of their products are also high and they have unique items that are hard to find elsewhere. They have lots of free parking on-site in their private parking lot. If you love innovative gadgets or tools that are a bit nicer than the ones you'd find at your average hardware store, give Lee Valley a look-see.

There is a large selection of arrangements to pick from and I found some really gorgeous ones at very reasonable prices. Today, I had to mark a sad occasion, unfortunately, and I wanted to get the flowers to a friend quickly as she was devastated and alone. Sandy's flower arranger went out of his way to make the arrangement special and sent me pictures so I would know what he was making (very reassuring!). He agreed to a little addition I requested at no charge and the whole order was in my friend's hands within 2 hours. Truly outstanding in my book. She loved it and was very moved by it.

TL;DL/The Short Version: Home improvement/hardware store…read more Very big. Ok selection of indoor plants in March. The Long Version: We are looking for a new sink for our laundry room, so stopped by this Home Depot to look at sinks. They had a few options which we are considering. Since I recently started getting into plants, I also took a look at their indoor plants section. It was March and the selection was not bad. The plants were in ok shape in general. No plants looked in really rough shape like I saw at the RONA down the street. However, I was looking for a Pilea Peperomioides and they had quite a few at a good price ($7.99), but none nice and healthy enough that I wanted to take home. They all had some scarred, yellowing or dead leaves. They had some cute succulents though that I would have gotten if I was in the market for them at the time. Plants at big box stores don't usually get the best care, but they are much cheaper than at speciality shops, so that's the trade-off. Plants, aside, this Home Depot location is really big and has all the usual items you need for home improvement projects. The washrooms here were exceptionally clean during my visit and I like how the exit door is a push and not a pull. I hate having to pull a handle after I have freshly washed my hands, lol. This location is a bit tucked away, you can't see it from the street. Lots of free parking. Review #89 (2025)

Home Depot should really invest more time into training their staff or not leaving staff that are un knowledgable and unable to do their job to serve the public. Thankfully, we were able to get help at the neighbouring Rona.. Gabe at Rona is super knowledgable and outstanding and knows a lot about paint unlike those working at Home Depot.

A snow plow had deposited a huge barrier of rain soggy snow across the driveway. Knowing that my daughter would soon be arriving home and would be unable to drive in off the street, I attempted to move the snow. It was so heavy that I could not lift it high enough to get it onto the lawn and out of the way. A small tractor with Budd Perennials written on the side, drove by, reversed, came back, and quickly scraped the area clear. I was unable to thank the driver for this kind deed. I am impressed with the attitude of service offered by this business, and look forward to purchasing plants for my garden when Spring arrives!

The Long Version: I was in search of some air plants and did a quick online search and found that Wild Willy's had a large selection. I thought that was awesome since they are within walking distance from my home. I've walked by the store many times, but have never gone in until my recent visit. As soon as I entered the store, I saw the large selection of air plants (Tillandsia). Everything is clearly marked with the species and the price. I like that. I ended up getting a Capitata Raspberry Enhanced (meaning it's sprayed with a pink floral tint) for $14, an Ionantha Mexico Mini for $4 and a Bulbosa Guatemala for $6. I wanted different ones with distinctly different looks. I am thrilled with my plants. I put them in a glass bowl with some river stones I bought at Michaels and they are so pretty. There was a single staff member working when my husband and I visited the store. He greeted us but let us browse uninterrupted, which I appreciated. They sell lots of plants and flowers. I noticed some seashells and soap by the cash register too. They also have lots of succulents, including Living Stones (which I had to look up because I had no idea what the heck Living Stones were, lol. They were by the cash register and literally looked like stones, haha). The man working there was courteous during checkout and he carefully placed all the plants into a paper bag and put some tissue paper on top. The only thing is when we got home we realized we were overcharged by $2 :( Wished we had realized that at the store. Oh well. I would return if I was in need of plants. But I'll pay more attention at checkout next time. I don't think they have any parking spots for customers, so likely just street parking. (201)
