I never thought I would be writing a positive review for Lowe's. Not that I had a previous bad experience, I just didn't think I'd ever go in. I just got so tired of the lack of service at Friedman Brothers (and Home Depot is just a nightmare in general) I gave them a shot. The staff was so friendly and so nice. If they didn't know the answer, they looked it up instead of trying to BS their way through it. We were looking at grills and the guy knew most of it, was happy to help, and happy to find correct answers he didn't know off the top of his head. I really want to support a locally owned business (Friedman's), but until their service matches Lowe's, I can't. read more

So I must admit, I'm not a big fan of Lowes to start with. When you order on line, if they don't have that amount at the store they automatically lower to their stock level, no back orders, no notification you won't be getting what you ordered. But this review is just about this store, good old store 1901. Went there today, walked up to customer service, no one in front of me, two assistance behind the counter after a minute one looks up and asks if I've been helped. Great. So I had an issue with grout, so she sent. one of their elite to pull my order in the tile section, I went with him. The representative in the tile department couldn't help us he was helping a customer, by sitting alone at his desk. Once we got to the grout section, the elite said you don't need me and off he went. So having pulled 15 of one item and 5 of another I went to the register, where the cashier scanned on 20 items individually, check out how home depot do it, they have a multiplication function scan once multiply by 15. The problem with Lowes, is it just isn't set up for customers. The reason I gave it two starts is to be fair I have got items delivered by Lowes and the delivery department is professional, courteous a helpful. read more

****Z E R O STARS**** Worst customer service I've ever received. I was dealing with 3 people and out of those 3 only 1 of them knew how to properly treat a customer. So I went in to pick up an order (fire pit kit that probably weighs around 300 pounds) and when I arrived and called them to let them know I am outside and tell them what number parking spot I am at, they tell me to go "around by the gate and someone will bring it with a forklift and load it on to the truck" (there's more than 1 gate) and when I asked the guy on the phone which gate he couldn't even tell me which one and sounded confused as hell, so of course I had to guess which gate he was talking about and drove around until they came out with a forklift. When all 3 associates finally come out to the gate they did not even greet us or confirm it was our order. They just assumed it was us and stood outside the truck and looked at us, as if they were annoyed for doing their job. Then one of the associates named Leslie has the audacity to say "What are they going to do just sit inside their truck or what." First of all let me tell you that were two small females that are picking this order up, so there was no way in hell we'd be able to do it, when they needed a forklift themselves to bring it out to us. Second of all, we were just following the instructions the guy on the phone told me over the phone when I called to say I was outside to pick up my order. They could've easily confirmed it was our order and then nicely let us know how we could be some help to them, or how to back up the truck to help them load it on to the bed trunk like they said they would. Not just stare at us mean mugging us from a distance. And Leslie, who made that rude ass comment decided she no longer needed to help and walked away and left her two other coworkers to figure it out. So to Dawn, the only associate that seemed to have good customer service and handed the whole situation properly THANK YOU SO MUCH! She was the forklift driver who was great help and was very understanding. And the young kid Alex who was supposed to be helping Dawn with the forklift had an ugly attitude just as bad as Leslie. I thanked Dawn and told her Leslie should've never made that nasty comment and Alex intervened and said " Well maybe she wouldn't have said that if you wouldve just gotten out of the truck and helped." Are you kidding me? Fucking ridiculous!!!! What are we supposed to do when the guy specifically instructed me to " Pull up to the gate so we can load it on the truck". Leslie and Alex you definitely need some retraining on how to properly treat your customers and how to do your job correctly!!!! If i could leave 0 stars I definitely would. I have to give this place 5 stars after the disaster our family went through at Home Depot. We tried to get hardwood flooring installed for 4 bedrooms in my mom's new house. After two months of hassles with crooked Home Depot, we came to Lowe's and it was the best decision ever! I'm so impressed by the staff that helped us. Everyone was so prompt and the entire process of measuring, picking out the right flooring, and installation took less than two weeks. Rudy Hernandez helped us with the flooring and he was AWESOME! He was so patient with answering all our questions and helped us choose the right flooring for us. Jose did our installation and he was such a nice guy and was always on time! Not to mention we saved over $1,000 (and a headache) going with Lowe's. read more

Came here from Marin because of their wonderful treatment of Vets. We expected to spend a few thousand dollars and brought the truck. Need lounge chairs, cushions, outdoor heaters, a big list. Could not fiend anyone to help us. Called the store number but no one answered. Asked several employees but they said he was in the bathroom, on a break etc. Left after 45 minutes with $90 worth of stuff. An employee suggested Friedman's or Home Depot. read more

Was so happy to see outdoor furniture available in Feb! Needed some chairs for superbowl. Big selection, lots of helpful workers as well. In and out super quick. ZERO stars. ZERO. Oh my gosh! I should have listened to people who complained about Lowes in Cotati. What a horrible experience. I'm moving and taking a new job. I went to Lowes Cotati (closest to where I'm moving) and asked if they could deliver a washer and dryer, which happened to be on sale. No problem. I bought them, set a date, hired someone to do a propane conversion, etc. They only would deliver to my new home town on Tuesdays. The day before delivery to my new home, they called and said the washer which had been reserved for me, had been sold and delivered to some other customer. Sorry. Anyone who has moved knows that you are dealing with a lot of details so I was frustrated, but I'm pretty forgiving as I'm also imperfect. They gave me a discount and set a new date. The day before the new date, it happened again! Aaaaaand, get this, now they don't know when they will be delivering. It will be "whenever" - literally - that's what they said. I'm starting a brand new job and I'm going to just up and not show for work on some random Tuesday, "whenever." Okay, so now I. AM. DONE. But wait, there is more frosting on this poopcake. They refunded the units and all the bits and bobs that are required to go with it, but not the 5 yr warranty. I have to drive over to Cotati to do that in person. Really? I called Lowes corporate and was on the phone for 1 hour, while corporate argued with Lowes Cotati, explaining that they can and will refund the money for the warranty. The corporate rep was FABULOUS and the young man who sold me the units was too, but the delivery people for Lowes Cotati are kind of awful. BEWARE. I wish I had listened. read more

I called Lowe's home improvement store in Cotati five times today. The first time It rang for 11 minutes and no one ever answered. The second time I called it rang for 16 minutes and no one ever answered the third time I called It rang for over 8 minutes and no one ever answered. The fourth time I called someone answered and immediately put me on hold before I could even speak, and they never come came back I waited on hold for over five minutes. Finally a person answered and let me speak on the first try. I told him that I was trying to make a purchase online but it would not let me choose the local store for pick up it was showing my items to be picked up in San Jose, over 100 miles from my home. I mentioned the difficulty at getting through on the phone and he told me that that's just the way it was at the store but they don't have time to answer the phones because they are busy, and they could not help me with my online purchase, helping me figure out how to complete the purchase with a pick up Location in Cotati. He did go to the flooring department and find out that they did absolutely have way more than enough flooring in this local store, but that he could not help me further. This was a very frustrating experience. Unfortunately no one seems concerned about the lack of customer service. He suggested that I call Lowe's help line, which I did. And that call was made at a little after 5 PM, so of course they were closed for the day because they are back east. read more

I had my kitchen, floors, and a window remodel done through Lowe's. It was a great experience. Derick was our project manager, and was very informative and very patient while my husband and I went back and forth on what materials we wanted and really helped us figure out the best way to get what we wanted. We finished the remodel last fall, and everything is still in great shape, the work and materials were all excellent. We've also had random questions after the fact, and they have been very helpful still. Whenever we are in the store, the floor staff are always very cheerful and helpful as well, more so than some other stores... When we get around to doing our next project (the bathroom!) we'll definitely use Lowe's. read more

I've had some great experiences at this Lowe's recently and in the past. I've had a lot of opportunity to visit them lately and they've always offered great service and prices. I was very pleasantly suprised to find that they offer a 10% military discount. It really saved us a bundle recently when we purchased some high dollar items for our new home. For the purchases I have made, I find Lowe's pricing to be better than Home Depot's with the exception of flooring. read more

It's hard to impossible to get someone to help you at this place. We went to buy a heart $1000 saw and no one bothered to help. Go to the windsor or SR HD store and you can't walk through without 5 associates asking if you need help. Lowes Cotati: First we ordered three appliances: a washer, dryer, and special order refrigerator for my brand new home in Santa Rosa. We have a renter moving in for 1 year until we move. All three were delivered at the same time. Dryer did not work. After a bit of wrangling we got that replaced, but the "new" one was dented. We accepted it our of frustration. Just did not want to wait longer. Fridge was placed and plugged in, but the installers/deliverers did not take it off "display" mode. Display mode is the mode the appliances are in at the store. Nothing went smoothly but the worst was the number of times we had to call different people at the store and at the delivery line - and retell the story - no quality control. read more

Wow this place slid off into the abyss of crappy customer service and lack of competence quickly. Just Like Home Depot, they have a stack of 27 gallon tote boxes with no lids! Of course with a little sign next to the boxes stating don't forget your lids. Very Good! So I look up and I see more 27 gallon tote boxes with lids up high on the Shelf. One of the associates was kind enough to get them down for me after he finished his half hour conversation about computers with another customer. Once I get to check out the barcode won't work. Because they are Home Depot HDX brand tote boxes and they couldn't sell them to me. So I go to Home Depot today to find tote boxes with no lids. Go to Lowe's and find Home Depot's tote boxes and Lids not for sale. It's okay it's only been 3 hours at my time with two crappy stores with crappy customer service and incompetent workers. I have had NOTHING but trouble with the Rohnert Park Lowes. First of all, I call the store number 707 242-5000 and often have to call back multiple times to get anyone to answer the phone. Specifically, I have called "The Installation Department," and can hardly ever get a person to anwer the phones. I paid for an install of a security screen door and it took over a month to get someone to come out and itstall it. They are to come on Friday Aug 3, and I can't get anyone to confirm the time. I will never purchase anything from Lowes that needs an install ever again. As I write this, I am on hold with the 1 800 Customer Service to try and get some help and even they are having a didfi ult time getting someone to answer the phone. I have wasted way too much time on Lowes. I do NOT recommend them at all! read more

I have spent a challenging week trying to purchase appliances for a remote location in Northern CA. While it has been like pulling hair to speak with a knowledgeable person at many non-Lowes stores, the folks at Lowe's in Cotati have been amazing! Not only did I get a call back from the manager of the store but he gave me his cell so that I could reach him directly as we tried to sort out delivery options. When it came time to make the purchase he connected me with the Pro-Services Supervisor who was also incredibly helpful. She was also patient and friendly when I had to call her back 2 times to revise some of our details. We had the WORST experience at this Lowe's store. NEVER going back! All we went in to buy was a propane tank for our new grill. We were told by the first employee we saw that we had to ask a cashier employee to purchase a propane tank. So we wait in line for a while, we finally get to the cashier, and he says, "we don't have anymore propane". Bummed we purchased a new shower head instead, which the same cashier employee charged us for a random $70 item when the shower head we bought was $40. So then we had to go to customer services just to get our receipt fixed. When we were at customer service fixing that another employee told us that they did in fact have propane, and went and got one for us. Service at this location in the past has been spotty. Overall, we like Lowe's customer service and selection, but the Cotati location seems to be going out of their way to be unhelpful. We ordered a large appliance, and then our troubles began. Suffice to say, I would NOT recommend this location for any type of large purchase. The employees go out of their way to avoid eye contact and do not seem to know what they are doing. If you need appliances, just about anywhere else would be a better option. Just came back from Lowe's about 15 minutes ago. We've been shopping there a lot lately as what we want is not carried by Friedman's, not Mead Clark, nor Home Depot. One of the items my husband wanted was from Skil & Lowe's had it. In stock. The other thing we've been looking at right now - landscape lighting. Lowe's has a larger, bigger better selection than HD in that. We had to take one of the lights we bought back tonight, no problem, then we bought another different very cool solar umbrella light. The woman who took it back, was most likely the same person that one of the people here was complaining about. She was a sweetheart. Of course, we were in on the less trafficked hours. People get exceedingly stressed when there's tons of people in the return line, but because we were there about 9:00 pm, no one was there, smooth sailing, everything was great. Also something else we noticed when we were buying lumber, HD's prices for the lumber pieces we wanted for about $1 - $2 higher per piece. So, we'd rather buy from Lowe's which has a bigger selection than HD imho. Especially since we wanted dowels for one of our DIY projects, Lowe's is way better and has a much better/bigger selection, and cheaper prices. read more

We ordered a refrigerator from Lowes in Cotati, CA. The door seal didn't work properly so after going around and around with them about sending a repair person and that not working out, we asked for a replacement. Two guys came out today and picked up the refrigerator that didn't work properly and before we knew anything else, they left. NO NEW REFRIGERATOR! No communication about not having a replacement available, nothing. Apparently, nobody on their end coordinated for the delivery of the replacement and the removal of the old one to coincide at the same time. To make matters worse, they are saying that this refrigerator won't be in stock for two more weeks! What are we supposed to do with a countertop full of food that needs to be refrigerated until then? When you try to call the store to speak to somebody, you're left on an eternal hold. They are trying to get the guys in the truck to turn around and bring back the defective one until they can bring a replacement, but this lack of attention, poor service and inconvenience is completely unacceptable. How is this place still in business. I don't even know where to start. First, have looked up on the internet what I need to buy. All of it is apparently in stock. '7 in stock, 4 in stock'. etc. Of course, the thing that says 7 in stock has 1, and the box is opened and it appears parts may be missing. Actually EVERY box of whatever I bought had been opened. Second, item two online says 'place in the store is BW Bay 34'. Well after looking around and not even FINDING a bay 34, and after like 10 minutes of searching for a live person, he says 'oh I think we moved those' and we ultimately find them around Bay 20 or something. Seriously, if there were 4 people working in the entire store I'd be shocked. Appliances, no one. Flooring, empty. While I'm browsing I see a woman who is flagged down by a customer, and she shortly replies 'I'm already helping three people!' and proceeds to walk away. Yeah, no crap you're helping three people, you appear to be the only person still working! An alarm goes off. And for 10 minutes it continues to go off. A pager system keeps begging over and over and over 'Customer service needed in _____, and then a different one, Customer service needed in _____. Endlessly looping. The store is an utter mess. Items blocking aisles in blatant fire hazards, especially around the cabinet area. But the final straw, and the reason I will NEVER set foot in this place again, is when I went to checkout. It was around 7pm on a Saturday, in my opinion, still quite prime shopping hours. Not one single cashier open, only that infernal 'self checkout' system. Which I hate. I despise!!! Especially tonight, when my cart is full of large, heavy and awkward items. I see a person there near self-checkout who's job it is to... I dunno. But she's very busy talking to a friend about how hard her job is, so she can't be bothered to help me. Honestly, I'm going to say right here, the girl with slightly dark skin, short black hair, maybe some would call chubby a bit. Honestly, if you're the manager, FIRE HER RIGHT NOW. Just do it. Then, fire yourself, because all the problems in this store clearly come from a complete lack of management. Come to think of it, there was a constant endless loop over the intercom asking for a manager to come to _____. I guess you couldn't hear it, because it went on and on too. Anyway, at some point the self-checkout (built by satan himself) stops working, telling me I have an 'unscanned item in the baggage area'. Said worthless employee, when I finally get her attention away from her BFF, says 'your stuff is too heavy!'. Really. I wouldn't have know that, just having maneuvered it all onto the platform myself, no friggen help from YOU. So I take some stuff off. Now the thing is complaining I'm missing stuff from the baggage area. What I assumed would happen, what I HOPED would happen, would be that my new friend over there would pick up her little scanner gun, take 5 seconds, light up the objects in the cart, and send me on my way. But again, she's too busy preparing for Prom or something. Finally watching me juggle a small mountain of percariously perched merchandise, she hits a few keys, and apparently finished my checkout. Meanwhile I'm still trying to figure out what is going on, and finally she snaps at me 'it's done, you already bought that!'. So I slowly grab my things, fill the cart, and swearing under my breath, head for the door. I guess she's following me, because I set off the alarm. I pause, thinking if I should just run for it, instead of dealing with these yahoos once more. She's behind me, and pretty much yells at me 'IT'S FINE, JUST GO'. Um no. It's not fine. You want to know why? 1) reconcile your stupid inventory with your online system. 2) change the locations online so they actually MATCH. 3) HIRE SOME DAMN PEOPLE TO HELP 4) Retrain EVERYONE in that store, who couldn't have been more apathetic if they had been 1980's robots. 5) Fire the manager. Seriously. Just FIRE them. There is ZERO reason for a store to be in this bad of shape, with this level of poor customer service, mess around the store, etc. 6) Have a damn cashier. Some of us hate the stupid confusing inaccurate self-checkout punishment. Look how many bad reviews this place has. Lowes, doest thou even check up on your stores? This one is in freefall. It needs seriously help. The only saving grace for how few employees I could find, was the nearly identical lack of shoppers. But know this. EVERY ONE of them that I could see, was desperately wandering around, looking for help. Help that was just not going to come. read more

My Husband and I went to Home Depot to look for carpet for our home their carpet samples were not very good and not a lot of colors to chose from so we drove to Lowe's and not only found what we wanted but the sales people were wonderful, from the time we purchased our carpet till they come out and installed it in our home it was such a pleasure everyone we dealt with was great, plus my husband is a vet so he got a 20% discount, our carpet is just beautiful! read more

Are you kidding me! I bought a faucet and it was still strapped and new but it wasn't ! It was missing the connection from the sprayer hose to the faucet as well as mounting nuts ! Then I return it and go grab another of the same and I checked it first and it was scratched and shit was missing in it some employee who is clearly a tweeker thing to sell me some garbage faucet. I am a conservative shopper. My washer and dryer needed replaced. I decided to use funds in my Home equity loan account to buy the appliances. After browsing, researching and deciding on two machines, I proceeded to checkout a purchase of 1800 dollars. Their " check verify" system didn't recognize the home equity account checks ( worth 50k btw) and they would not sell me the appliances. Eff you, lowes. Rohnert Park Lowe's charged me $450 more to replace these 3 darker pieces of bamboo floor to the similar color during the installing. Because they think this color diffidence is acceptable. It's right in the middle of my hall way! Come on! I spent several thousand bucks on it! I don't want to see the uneven color all the time! I feel we were ROBed! Me likes Lowe's! Came here the other day, needed shelving longer than 8ft. Was surprised to say the least that the other big-box home improvement store didn't carry anything longer than a 1X8. I would've had an easier time finding Ozzy Osbourne at a church bake sale, than I would finding help at THAT store. Just what would Ozzy bake? Not the case at Lowe's! Really friendly when I asked where shelving was at. A little taken back at the auspicious smiles, I was preparing to deflect questions concerning my solar panel needs...but no, the employees where just plain nice & helpful.
