An adorable Haworthia that is the centerpiece of a plant stand made from a strawberry tree burl we pulled up.

Walking into Lone Pine for someone beginning to delve into bonsai, is like walking into a wonderland of beautiful scenery and everything one could want including the owners and their pups, all of whom were as friendly as could be. Steve showed tremendous patience with me and answered what I believe could have been eye rolling questions, with absolute pleasure. On a visit, you will find everything from established and stunning bonsai to all sorts of starters and succulents to almost overwhelm you. If you're looking for Japanese garden trees, they are there too and there is no comparison to a big box store's selection if that look is what you are after. I would say comparing their plants/trees to anything you find in a commercial garden center is apples to oranges, these are purpose grown with a lot of attention to detail and love. Bonsai Pots....lots of pots, glazed unglazed, small to large, I was in heaven since that is not something one never finds just anywhere! I am so happy we discovered them in our own backyard, Sonoma county and west county in particular is a treasure trove of good stuff and people. This family owned business is case in point.

A really great nursery for all of your bonsai needs. Really friend married couple own and work here. They were more than happy to help us with any questions we had. They sell bonsais, starters, trees, succulents, cacti and bonsai pots. Great selection!

Lots of items to select from. Large nursery. Kinda expensive. They usually supply the plants for several nurseries throughout the Bay Area such as Katsura Gardens. The couple was nice to show us the lay of the land for where the different plants are located.

I had been wanting go here for years but everytime I was in the area they were closed. Well I finally made it and it did not disappoint. Walked out with boxes full of bonsai starters, bonsai soil and a few pots. The owners were top notch, offering tips and walking me to the areas of their nursery I was looking for.

Not the easiest spot to find or to park, but all the effort was worth it. My jaw dropped: -succulents -air plants -cacti -bonsai -ferns Loved all the whimsical arrangements. The staff that work there have been there for DECADES, so they really know aspect of how to care for your new purchases. I was bouncing around and jumping for joy the entire time I was there. And I continue to grin admiring my new green friends.

A fabulous nursery of cactus, succulents and bonsai. Their bonsai plants are sold in many plant shops in the Bay Area but the actual nursery's selections are amazing to behold. I came looking for ume and sakura today, as my miniature trees bit the dust recently. They had several varieties to choose from and beyond these there were tiny maple, quince, cedar, pine, oak, ivy, azalea, and all manner of miniature grasses and flowering bushes. At checkout, there was a couple purchasing several cacti that reminded them of their home in Arizona. The drive along the Gravenstein Highway is quite lovely; the nursery is located on a country lane off the main road.

Thank you to Lone Pine Gardens for our gorgeous sansevierias! Amy was super friendly and helped us find exactly what we were looking for. Her team potted and arranged the sansevierias for us using our planters we brought over, even adding some beautiful top rocks as a bonus. Staff is all masked and provided a safe, socially-distanced shopping experience. They have a wide selection of succulents, cactuses, and bonsais that make for great holiday gifts, or just to brighten up your home. Go show some local love at Lone Pine this holiday season!

This nursery is the best I have ever been too! They have an amazing selection of succulents, cactuses and bonsai. Steve helped us and he was GREAT and super knowledgeable! Highly recommend! Cant wait to go back!!!

Succ-ramentans and NorCal folks! You want a nice scenic drive that ultimately leads to succulent/cactus/bonsai heaven? I'm sharing a secret that you can all share to your fellow succulent friends...Head out to Sebastopol, to a place called Lone Pine Gardens! They are mostly a wholesale nursery, one of the major suppliers of Green Acres and High Hand Nursery. But they especially love the personal collectors and fans like us who share their business by word of mouth. They have quite a collection and very reasonably priced. I promise...it is totally worth the trip! And the owners are just freaking awesome. Go check them out! Open only Thursdays to Saturdays 10-5 pm...

Excellent local garden center. I do native plant landscaping as a side business and have a degree…read morein plant and soil science, so I like to think I know what makes a good garden center. This particular location has a terrific selection of most types of plants. Lots of edible stuff like veggie starts and fruiting bushes and trees. The majority of the available plants are mix of Mediterranean and CA native landscaping plants with a handful of the standard shrubs/trees you'll find at every nursery in the U.S. like crepe myrtles and ornamental conifers. Also tons of herbaceous flowering perennials ranging from 4" pots up to 5 gallons. Also, a great house plant selection! I also believe this spot deserves some serious credit for their selection of native plants. One of the only spots in California you can readily purchase 4" starts of native annuals as well as cryptic and rare perennials. Just a couple days ago, I saw they were selling tomcat clover! That is just too cool. I also just bought a ground cover cultivar o CA buckwheat I've never even heard of. They clearly have someone in their procurement department who knows a good deal about natives. In terms of dry goods, they have a wide variety of pottery as well as all your standard garden center goods such as fertilizers, pest control, irrigation equipment, and general gardening supplies. What really tickles me is their bulk seeds. They have a full hallway with containers on either side with scoopers where you can buy any Lb amount of these seeds. They have tons of landscaping and pasture grass seed as well as some neat cover crop and cover crop mixes. My only complaint about this section is that not all labels have the scientific names. Some do, which is great since you know exactly the species that is being sold. However, one of the erosion control mix listed an annual "California festuca" and a perennial "California festuca". Unsure what species are being sold or if they are actually CA natives. Ultimately not a big deal and I'm sure the staff would be happy to get me the details. BUT if I made the labels...I may include the scientific name ;) All in all, this store and its other locations are a shining light in a dim world of big box stores selling garbage. You truly can find whatever you need for your projects here. I aways stop in when I'm in the area and buy a handful of things. I'll be a customer for as long as they are around!

Employees are always friendly and helpful whether you come in person or call with questions. Always such a well-maintained nursery with a robust inventory of products.

We live a couple hours away, but come by when we visit family in the area. We stopped in to check out the inventory and so much had changed! The lot seems to have expanded, and the inventory definitely has. A large inventory of beautiful trees, statement pieces for the garden with rare form, variegation, or hard to find cultivars. For example, a golden lace cypress that was simply stunning caught my eye. Boughs of golden lacy leaves with a gorgeous form. Many more very interesting trees, like a gold form Mugo pine, rare ginkgos, unique maples, bonsai stock trees, native oaks, elms. If you are planning a garden design and want a unique tree this is definitely your place. Great for Japanese style and any other garden design. Many dwarf species available. In addition, they have a wide assortment of pond plants, koi fish, pond equipment, pond kits, and the like. They also have a great assortment of succulents and bonsais. They even sell minerals and cute hand made paver stones that look like reds wood trunk slices. Scott, the owner, was a delight and gave me the honor of seeing his private collection (an expansive selection!) of Dyckia and bromeliads and rare euphorbia and other succulents. I could have spent hours in there just taking in all the beauty of the plants. I felt like I found a kindred plant loving spirit in Scott. He's a really nice guy and treated us really well. The best part was the prices were really great. I picked out numerous plants expecting really marked up prices as is typical for nurseries (it IS a business after all). However, I was pleasantly surprised by the fair pricing. I can't wait to come back to pet the dogs, check out the pigeons (they have homing pigeons in a big aviary out back), and nerd out on bonsais and succulents again. If you are curious I highly recommend stopping by.
