We recently lost 2, 35 year old date palms in storms. Instead of being a real downer, it turned into an opportunity. Andy and Drew came by and made great suggestions as to what to plant to replace them, to compliment the 1 remaining date palm. We followed their guidance and selected 2 Mediterranean fan palms. Andy, Jesus and team then prepared the site (large, deep holes had to be dug by hand because of access issues), and organized and executed the whole delivery and planting process (which is pretty complex when you're dealing with tall trees weighing about 2500 lbs each, necessitating a crane to lift them into position). HONEST ANDY I stopped by Jungle Bamboo & Palm Nursery today. Andy graciously greeted me the moment I got out of the car. I talked with him about possibly buying some bamboo or palms for a project. When he saw a photo of the planters, he said both would bust-out of the planters within about a year and a half. I showed him a photo and I asked him about a particular plant I had originally considered, yet I thought they would not work. They do not sell it (as it's actually a grass), but he showed me some that was planted on the property. He then gave me an explicit explanation as to how to care for them. He told me that he thought that grass would, indeed, be the best choice for my project. While I can't speak to the purchase or delivery process, I felt I needed to speak about Andy's honesty. Most people would have just sold me about five $160 plants for this project. However, Andy was willing to lose a sale in order for me to have the best outcome. I will definitely be back. read more

Totally did not expect to be wow'd by this place, there weren't many photos online and I joked with my brother that he was taking me to a backyard nursery. Turns out, it was fudging awesome! I don't even LIKE palm trees or bamboo (my brother dragged me, I'm more of a cottage garden type). But the place was straight up gorgeous. The owner was super knowledgeable and friendly. He chatted with my brother about the various types of bamboo and there are a LOT. So many different types! He has a lovely little hill where you can look down through his bamboo forest, all I wanted to do was stick a hammock up there and listen to the shushing of the wind through the bamboo leaves. It was so peaceful. The price seemed on par with the selection and rarity of finding such good quality bamboo (this was our third nursery of the day, we hit up 4 total today, would have been 5 but Sloat closed.). After looking at their website, I called to inquire about a palm I want. Andy was very short and rude and kept sending me back to the website and refused to answer my questions. I told him the website has a list of palm names but no pictures and also, I had additional questions about the palm I wanted. He refused to answer my questions and kept being short and rude with me. Andy also told me they don't plant anything for anyone and that I'd have to call someone else for planting but this Yelp page specifically says multiple times that they install the palms for clients. I was on the search for some beautiful tropical plants for my yard. We arrived to this place and was immediately awestruck! So many different palms and bamboos! We meet Andy, very knowledgeable guy. Customer Service at it's best! We purchased 20ft black bamboo from Andy, and our gardeners were inadvertently sold the wrong kind of soil to plant them in. As a result, much of it did not survive. When I contacted Andy and told him what happened, he did not hesitate for a moment before telling me he would replace what we had lost despite the fact that it was not his fault. Now that's what I call customer service! He really went above and beyond to make sure that our garden looks amazing! We planted clumping Bamboosa in September 2014. Andy assessed our needs and recommended this particular species. Andy's crew installed 18 plants along our fence line. They were on time, clean, and did a great job. In spring of 2015, a few of the plants were starting to yellow and Andy immediately sent out a crew and within a few days, they were back to green. The growth rate is phenomenal, with about 5-10 feet new growth since we planted them. We have not noticed any spreading beyond the primary areas of the plantings. We have purchased twice from the company. The selection was great and the service was friendly. Our problem arose 4 years following our first planting. Obviously, the concern when working with bamboo is setting up barriers to prevent spreading. We followed the planting instructions offered by Instant Jungle 100% (while also looking online to confirm the suggested procedures). It was explained to us that the danger with bamboo was with the plant escaping the barrier by finding a seam or growing over the barrier. Four years later, the bamboo had spread in both our yard and our neighbor's yards. When digging all this up, the there was no evidence that the bamboo had found a seam or grown over the barrier. Rather, the bamboo had grown under the barrier that we were sold by Instant Jungle. The barrier material sold to us was 24" in depth. When we brought this problem to Instant Jungle, we were told that they never would have sold 24" plastic barrier material but this is ridiculous as we purchased the barrier material and plants (and took planting instructions)from Instant Jungle all at the same time and were relying only their advice. Due to this bamboo being part of landscaping on a fence line and surrounded by flagstone,it just cost us $5800 to repair the damage and re- construct a new barrier of 48". read more

I purchased some mature bamboo from a private seller and it did not do well. I phoned Jungle Bamboo and spoke with Andy and he is helping me save them. He helped me diagnose why they were doing so poorly (I was overwatering them in a clay based soil). He also is helping me rescue them from sure oblivion. I highly recommend working with them on your landscaping needs. They will help you select the correct plants and keep them happy once they are planted.
