I had such a great experience at Pond & Garden this weekend! We are repeat customers who just love the place (we are plant nerds). We live a couple hours away, but come by when we visit family in the area. We stopped in to check out the inventory and so much had changed! The lot seems to have expanded, and the inventory definitely has. A large inventory of beautiful trees, statement pieces for the garden with rare form, variegation, or hard to find cultivars. For example, a golden lace cypress that was simply stunning caught my eye. Boughs of golden lacy leaves with a gorgeous form. Many more very interesting trees, like a gold form Mugo pine, rare ginkgos, unique maples, bonsai stock trees, native oaks, elms. If you are planning a garden design and want a unique tree this is definitely your place. Great for Japanese style and any other garden design. Many dwarf species available. In addition, they have a wide assortment of pond plants, koi fish, pond equipment, pond kits, and the like. They also have a great assortment of succulents and bonsais. They even sell minerals and cute hand made paver stones that look like reds wood trunk slices. Scott, the owner, was a delight and gave me the honor of seeing his private collection (an expansive selection!) of Dyckia and bromeliads and rare euphorbia and other succulents. I could have spent hours in there just taking in all the beauty of the plants. I felt like I found a kindred plant loving spirit in Scott. He's a really nice guy and treated us really well. The best part was the prices were really great. I picked out numerous plants expecting really marked up prices as is typical for nurseries (it IS a business after all). However, I was pleasantly surprised by the fair pricing. I can't wait to come back to pet the dogs, check out the pigeons (they have homing pigeons in a big aviary out back), and nerd out on bonsais and succulents again. How have I lived here my whole life and just now went in this store for the 1st time. I think I never really knew what it was. Pet Club sent me here for aquarium plants. I parked in front on the 116 side. When I walked in the door the first thing I noticed was all the cute knickknacks and gifts. There were different stones and crystals home decor and of course plants. Then I walked out to more plants, trees, ponds.. This place is huge! In the far back is ponds with aquarium plants. They didn't have much on the Friday I went but they get shipments on Tuesday so I will be back! All the workers were very friendly and seemed knowledgeable. Prices were very fair. I ended up coming home with a couple flowering plants for my front porch too. I will be back for plants and also some stones for gifts. There is so much going on here it would be fun to just walk around even if you don't need anything. read more

Great selection of plants, many I had not seen before, and other doodads for your garden. They even have healthy looking Koi. Exploring the place is half the fun, looks like it hasn't changed in about 50 years. Friendly staff and worth a visit just to know what they sell. read more

pond and garden is a one of a kind place where you can just relax and injoy the scenery and the staff . although the girl working the cash register is new she is also very helpful and welcoming, and seem to really love it there . but how could she not it is a experience to say the least . its nice to be able to injoy with no pressure to buy. So bummed... Just went here to buy a goldfish for a 30 gallon fish pot... for indoor gardens... I was shocked when the woman told me she would NOT sell me a fish. It wouldn't be fair to the fish she stated over and over. I thought 30 gallons would be fine for one goldfish. apparently not. I asked how big do you need for one fish and I didn't get answer... very rude and uncomfortable situation. I will never go here again. read more

I had a great experience here for my first visit. I'd been eyeing this place for future backyard pond needs as I pass it daily on my commute home. When I finally installed a small water fixture and pond, I was ready. Like most consumers, I tried finding a local place near my hometown first. I should have known better. I discovered that many places didn't carry water plants or if they did they only carried a minimal of water plants seasonally (I visited stores like Friedman's, Home Depot, Lowes, Orchard Supply, Sloat, and Armstrong Garden). I was happy to finally visit here. When I pulled into their lot, I found the layout easy to navigate. Trees, shrubs, bonsais, and non-water plants are to the left of the cashier shack and pond needs are to the right (or in the interior for water conditioning and feed). They have well maintained tanks with koi, mosquito fish, and other freshwater varieties (I'm told check back seasonally). I picked up a half dozen mosquito fish to keep my pond mosquito clean while I browsed their water plants. They have an amazing amount of water lilies as well as grasses and reed varieties that could adorn any water feature currently. Water lettuces are available in May. I walked away with a beautiful water lily and two emergent grasses to place back at home. Unlike some reviews, I had excellent customer service. The woman was friendly, chatty, and very informative. I really enjoyed my shopping experience here and will return readily for any water plant needs. I highly recommend skipping all the hassle of looking for water plants in the usual box stores and take the scenic drive on Stoney Point to visit here. You won't be sorry. read more

this is a great nursery. they pretty much specialize in water plants and fish, but they also sell an impressive variety of conifers, maples and other exotic woodland perennials. they also sell "regular" garden plants too. you can find a decent selection of new zealand flaxes, ferns, natives, vines, etc. both scott and jarid are very knowledgeable about fish, water gardens and conifers, and offers a nice selection of all of the above. the offer some nice specimens of some unusual maples and are generally quite of bit cheaper than Momiji or Marca Dickie. They sell many different types of koi, running the gamut from common to very rare. the water plant selection is better than any other nursery in the area. a definite "must go" if you own, or are thinking of starting a pond and/or water garden. you can also schedule appointments or consultations with them if you need maintenance or advice read more

They are stocked with all the pond and fish supplies you'll ever need including medicine for fish, pond pumps and filters, etc. The owner has taken my call three times when I was having health issues with my Koi (not purchased from them) and he had expert advice. I've pretty much had it with this place. I've been shopping there every summer for years for plants for my small water feature and the service has always been hit and miss. They stock things that no one else around here does, so I keep going back. But the owner's attitude is the pits! He makes you feel like he's doing a favor letting you shop there and that he'd much rather be somewhere else. For Christ's sake man, if you're that burnt out on the business, sell it to someone else and get on with your life. Quit making your customers feel like 2nd class citizens! From now on I will ONLY go there for things I absolutely cannot get elsewhere. And hold my nose when I do! read more

This is an outstanding operation for koi ponds, bonsai, and Asian-styled gardens. I keep coming back because they have a great selection of plants and koi. The staff is also friendly and knowledgable and the prices are also very reasonable. Today I was there and noticed just how clean and tidy the plant area is. I've been shopping here for a few years and this is a great place. They have a beautiful selection of koi, shubunkins, sarasa gold fish, and an awesome inventory of water plants, lotus, conifers and Japanese maples. They also have beautiful pots, planters and stepping stones as well as all your pond needs. Inside the small shop area they carry a good selection of filters, pumps, fountains, fish food, medications and more. Scott and his employee, Joanie, are very knowledgeable about their inventory and have proved to be extremely helpful many times. The prices are fair and the service great. The ambiance of the property is lovely and serene, making it easy to meander and browse, while enjoying the cooing of their beautiful doves roaming the grounds. I also want to say that I've called here many times for advice on one pond or koi dilemma or another, and the staff have always done whatever the could to help me.
