I had to get a new key made after loosing a set of my car keys. The older gentleman that worked the counter was super nice. Walked out to my car to ensure that it worked and the chip in the key was programmed correctly. This weekend I needed to get a couple keys cut for another vehicle. After going to a green big box store that gave massive attitude and refused to cut the key because it wasn't purchased at $100+ a key through them we went back to True Value. They cut both keys no problem. The woman who helped taught one of the younger guys what to do on the machine and it was a great experience all around. Someone got training and I got both keys I needed the second time as well as a couple other items that I picked up while waiting for the keys to get done. Yes big box stores are great for lumber but if it's quality genuine customer service stick with the true hardware stores and shop small. read more

I reserved a U-Haul to pick up at this location and had a terrible experience. Maybe they're okay as a hardware store but this is part of their business and the employee was not helpful as you can see below. Had reservation for 730am. Since it was before location opened, U-Haul automatically made my reservation a "24/7 Truck Share" saying I'd be able to check out using the app. Got to the location and the app said no vehicle is connected to your reservation. After panic calling and chatting, agents said location probably just didn't put the keys in the lock box for me to retrieve them. Just wait till the location opens at 830am and they'll be able to check out your vehicle. When they opened, I went in and said explained I'm waiting for my U-Haul reservation. The only employee there said, he can't check me out, only his boss can, who should be in in about 10 minutes. I explained that my reservation was for 730am and that U-Haul said I'd be able to check out the vehicle on my own using the app. He got defensive and argumentative, so I backed off. I just needed the truck! 845am and still no boss. The employee starts telling me I should call U-Haul and see if they have a truck in another nearby location. I call but the phone system says its going to 15-20 minutes, again, to talk with someone. Finally a U-Hail agent comes on the line. He says if the employee can tell us the truck's key number he can check me out over the phone. Now the employee says he called a co-worker who can check out the truck, that the co-worker will be there in 5 minutes. So we wait, 10+ minutes. Finally, the co-worker shows up. He's very friendly and apologetic regarding the boss. He checks out the truck. Its 930am - two hours after my reservation should have started. The truck is filthy. When he opens the loading door I climb up and notice the sign that says to avoid a $25 fine sweep out the truck before returning. I point out that the floor is dirty. He says, ya, they didn't sweep it out last night. First stop I make is to the gas station where I clean the filthy windshield (could hardly see through it) the driver's and passenger's windows and the side mirrors. Getting such a late start made me hit traffic all along my route, so it was dark by the time I returned the truck. I returned the truck much cleaner than I got it, but I didn't scrub the console inside the truck. Checking in using the app, I clicked the choice that the truck needed cleaning before the person rents it. So then the app wanted to charge me a $25 cleaning fee! I had to go back and redo the whole check-in to eliminate the cleaning fee. So, the next person gets a filthy truck too. :( I'd never recommend or use this location again! read more

This is my second time going to this hardware store. Normally I go to Lowe's or Home Depot or friedmans Is the second time that I had keys cut there that I had brought in from home and did not buy there. The first time they cut my keys And sent me on my way. I asked what I owed them and said nothing because it was my keys that they cut and not ones that were bought at the store. Today I went and got two more keys cut and I got charged $8.04 to get two keys cut. I asked about that. I thought that they were free because they were my keys. The guy at the register wanted to see them and then gave me a quote. It's a liability that if we cut the key wrong then we own the key."To me I was just a bunch of bull to appease me, but I think that they wanted to squeeze anyway they could money out of everyone. Definitely will not be going back here for two keys that I bought for 20 seconds of work isn't worth it. It takes them 10 seconds a key that's $4.02 per key for 10 seconds that's $24.12 per minute that's $1447.20 per hour. Apparently I'm in the wrong racket. I should go get an old mail truck and put a key cutter in it and go around and cut everyone's key at these prices. The worst part is I didn't even buy a key from them and when I mentioned that the last time I got it for free, the guy, the register asked me who it was and I said it was the girl that works here and he immediately said well. She's a bimbo and gives things out for free and doesn't know what she's doing. What kind of workplace is that? read more

I was in a pinch trying to get a banner hung up on a tight timeline, and Sam was incredibly helpful by making suggestions for how to get it done, cutting the PVC, finding the correct fittings, drilling holes for the grommets, and doing it in a friendly way. Went in Monday to have a key made was quickly told only one man in the store does that ok fine came back 20 min later to be told oh we don't have that key. Come back Wednesday Went back today to hear the guy say oh I'm not helping her! Hmm so I yelled I can actually hear you! What's the problem?? The nice girl came over and told me they didn't get the key I needed. This place is Bleek at best shocked they are still in business with poor customer service old products on the shelf and garbage everywhere behind the key counter. The store has exactly what you need. I first went to a major box store looking for both non-metric and metric screws - the selection was poor and no metric to speak of. I used to love this hardware store. They had the best and most knowledgeable people working there. Boy have things changed. Guy in back is great. They used to all be the best around. Two guys that are frequently working register leave a lot to be desired. To say the least. I'm trying now to time my visits to when they aren't there. Extremely incompetent and one is undeservingly arrogant. Creep vibes when I had young gal with me also. Maybe stocking shelves away from public would be better fit. Please bring back competent help. I love this place. Just today I went in to get some degreaser for the new house I'm moving into and kailey did an amazing job helping me find what I needed. I seriously appreciate this store and the people who work there. Many times have I needed help with something and no matter how their day is going they always do their best to find the answer, as soon as you walk through the door. Today I needed thermal paste and double sided tape and the guy who helped me( hat, blondest with stretched ears), was super chill and showed me exactly what I needed and where I needed to find it in the store. Sam (and the other gentleman who's name I offer) are amazing! Apparently, Benjamin Moore sometimes changes the formulations of their paints while keeping the name of the colors the same. So the first paint we got didn't match. Sam called up Benjamin Moore to see if they had the old formulation. They didn't. So he then spent the better part of an hour helping me match the paint by eye. All this for a single quart of paint. Thanks Sam! Once I got home, I Googled the U-Haul in Santa Rosa, and learned that the same box was sold by them for $1.49! Today, upon entrance into this establishment my fiancé was racially profiled and asked to leave this store. My fiancé is white with a shaved head and tattoos. Him and a friend hadn't even been in the store 2 minutes before being asked to leave or the owner was going to call the police. I then called the store and asked to talk to the owner and he then told me he kicked them out of the store because he is "paranoid" and the owner tried to tell me that they had looked like the guys that had previously stole from him and he admitted that my fiancé and his friend were not the individuals that did that. I asked him if he was racially profiling them and he agreed that yes he was. Not only did this put my fiancé on the spot but also embarrassed him in front of other customers. This is an old style small town hardware store with excellent staff, a very eclectic but thorough selection, and pretty good prices considering it's not a big box hardware store. A great place to find hand and power tools, hardware, home furnishing stuff like hoses, yard equiptment. Also plumbing, lumber, you name it. this place has it. Also a great place for indoor growers, they have a small supply of soils and supplements (Foxfarm, others) containers, watering equip. I can not begin to express how much of a jewel this place is. So unexpected to have so many things, including a mini area for lumber in back. Everyone is so very helpful. We found everything we came to a hardware store for and not only that, but things we couldn't find locally at other places like half cup canning jars! It was freakin' a wonderful surprise. Even though we had a limited time budget for the day we still marveled and wondered around at all the selection this store has to offer. We even found things that Lowe's and Home Depot were out of stock or didn't carry (like fly strips come on!). I highly recommend you try this place for hard to find things. The prices are fairly competitive for most things, however some things are much more pricey than average. You win some, you lose some. It's all averages in today's markets. Normal I would say. Still, even the prices that are a bit higher make up for the wonderful wide selection. From grill, paint supplies, garden, plumbing, canning, tupperware, and more ... it's simply indispensable and now to become a regular store we visit. Love it!!!!! It is so entirely misleading when you drive by. It's so much bigger and has so many more things inside than you would ever guess by driving by. I don't really shop here much so I can't comment much on their prices or selection but I really want to vouch for their A+ customer service. I thought I had lost a key in their parking lot last Thursday and didn't realize it until I was back down in Petaluma. I called and asked the checkout lady to check the parking lot, which she did but she was unable to find it. She took down my name and number, but at this point I didn't think it would ever surface. On saturday I received a call and voicemail from the same lady letting me know they found the key. I went up today and picked it up... these people went the extra mile in terms of service and everyone I encountered was very friendly and helpful. Thank you to the checkout lady and Johnny! Not impressed from the moment I walked in. No eye contact or greeting for a local hardware store where everyone should be friendly. I walked around a bit then went back up front to ask a lady if they had ladybugs or mantis'. She was abrupt and rude saying "we don't do that here" not what I asked and didn't appreciate the attitude. It's an alternative to chemical sprays that are frowned upon in rural Cotati, forgive me for wanting to take care of irritating insects in a natural way. Your judgement is not needed nor necessary and there are plenty of other hardware stores that do sell that sort of thing. Won't ever go back and will suggest others do the same. read more

DO NOT RENT A UHAUL FROM HERE! A total nightmare! Sent a parking ticket from LA claiming to be the Uhaul I rented from here and just used locally. When I tried to fight it, since I was never left the area, True Value said it was Uhaul's fault, Uhaul said it was True Value's. To fight it, I asked for True Value for a copy of the rental agreement to show odometer.These guys couldn't find paperwork. Regional Uhaul employee "Forrest" would not return calls or help in anyway, he completely sucks at his job! By the time True Value found my paperwork, making yet another drive to Cotati and picking it up, I sent it back, LA said too late!!!! I was stuck paying a $210 parking ticket!!!! UNBELIEVABLE! When I asked if True Value would help with the cost, they said Nope. Employees are nice, but no one made calls on my behalf, offered any credit on rental, zero! Not recommended at all! read more

Long overdue review here... The gentleman who helped me with a plumbing issue was great. My bf said that there are a lot of small things this store carries that would be difficult to find in a larger home improvement store. They don't carry everything here, but they do have a lot of things you need. Prices are fair and the staff, in my experience, was incredibly knowledgable and friendly. I knocked off a star because of ease of access off of 101, store size and lack of some common items. Otherwise, if you're fed up with the big stores, give this a try. read more

I usually stop here first. This little gem of a hardware store is awesome and has great employees who really will help you find what you need. It's perfect for all those little screws and washers and gaskets that you might need, as they have drawers of those in bulk. I feel good patronizing this little local store.
