When I tried to pay for the screw and the screwdriver I'd taken off the wall to screw it in, the cashier said "put the screwdriver back." So my total came to $0.47. I felt bad I didn't have any cash so I handed him my debit card. He paused and grabbed the change cup and paid for my screw out of it. So not only did I get individual, expert, efficient help but I left without paying anything. That is how you get return customers. That is how you get someone who has only been to your store a couple times to recommend it to anyone and everyone needing parts, help, whatever. I'm impressed. And I plan to bring cash next time! A few times the match was not perfect (Small amount of paint purchased), and they decided to match a new batch at no cost. Fast forward now to 2025 where I purchased a few gallons for painting inside and out. I brought samples and they looked to be okay in the lighted area, but I never know until I paint a wall and it completely dries to be honest. This time the match was quite off to the point where I'd either have to paint the entire house or quite simply just get a re match to something that's closer. I had used maybe an eighth of the gallon purchased for the first room, so not much waste at all. When I brought it back with photos showing how off it was, I was greeted with a wonderful individual who basically smirked and said "That's a bummer". A bummer indeed, but one would think they would do something at that point. Nope, he merely turned his back to me to work on a new batch of paint for another customer. I asked if he could replace the match that clearly did not work, he told me "Company rules dictate we don't take paint back". He proceeded to tell me that other customers were waiting and needed his attention and that I'll have to paint my entire house as he couldn't get close to the match. So spend hundreds of dollars to fix a terrible match in hopes they get it right this time...I just took my business elsewhere and will never recommend Friedman's again to anyone for paint purposes, just truly sad customer service and willing to stand by a product. Ended up going to another paint store (Larger chain paint store) that matched it much closer to the original and stated they will re match for free if there are any issues. Lesson learned.

Sure, California may be experiencing drought, but if you have a garden section, guess what? You need to water your plants. Lowes has started skipping that step but wouldn't dream of knocking a penny off plants that are already in distress when purchased. Home Depot does a slightly better job, but only by a nose. Shopping at Home Depot is generally unpleasant because the stores are, well, warehouses. Wilco has a much smaller garden section, but they tend what they have. They also intermix some unusual or unique plants with common ones which gives the feeling of shopping in a small nursery. Finally, their prices are better than either Lowes or HD. In addition, Wilco is the place to get bird seed for your outdoor birders like me. Lowes has rats they can't control so they quit carrying seed. HD went to tubs, but they don't have the variety that Wilco has. My only issue with Wilco is its sale of live chicks. I get it. Its a farm store. I disapprove but I get it.

I just felt like instead of standing there glaring at me she might've offered some additional assistance. Instead, I put the item down as I didn't have time to make sure it was the right size and I didn't have time to look for the other strap that I needed that was there on display, but I was not permitted to purchase what I needed. At this time, it was approximately 7:04. To General manager: Patricia needs customer service training--or she needs a different job that does not include interacting with customers. I spent over $400 between the blanket and a gift for someone. Both employees, NOT Patricia, were nice. They smiled and they were helpful. Upon my leaving, the first gal gave me a friendly smile and wished me a good night. When I had walked away from Patricia and I told her thank you, she did not reply. I did say it loud enough for her to hear. I should think that a customer dropping over $400 should be given at least common courtesy. I know if I were the general manager, I would want to know how my managers of each store were treating the customers. I really like the store and it is an hour away from me. I am tempted to come back, but this was quite an unpleasant experience.

(From lighter yellow to a darker yellow) The employee said he couldn't do anything with the color then grabbed our 5 gallon and pushed it to the back of the store, which made us think we could exchange it for something. Then he matched a brand new gallon of paint with the requested color. Not until we were asked whether we still wanted to keep the original 5 gallon of paint did we realize that they couldn't be returned or credited. As costumers, we should have asked whether it can be returned up front. But the "grabbing away without telling us the return policy" behavior was really confusing. We ended up buying the rest of the paint for our house project from a different retailer in town. Just for people's future reference, other stores at least offer to try to make your unsatisfied paint brighter or darker.

I bought a Fjords Helsinki chair from a Petaluma shop called Roe and Co. several months ago. We bought it on the sale at 20% and were very excited to bring to our home. We paid the 50% deposit and were notified the chair could be picked up assembled or in two boxes. We asked it be assembled and to please assure everything worked right ... and not really agile with assembly stuff. We were told twice - once by Dan and another time by co-owner Michelle, to call the assembly shop in Santa Rosa, 24 hours in advance to have chair assembled and ready for pick up. We called 48 hours in advance and were given a very confusing disorganized response to this request, something to the effect, well don't come at 10 o'clock on opening because they wont be ready and have to assemble it. I said that was why I was calling as told at least 24 hours in advance so they could assemble prior to pick up at 10 am on Friday 2/21.... and believed that they thus understood it would be assembled and tested ti make sure it all worked according to specifications. We paid two movers w/ a truck to pick up at 10:15 am on 2/21 and they were told to wait, chair needed to be assembled... The chair was then delivered with great care (wrapped in moving blankets by very competent careful movers I personally know) and we put in place. First we saw chair had not been tested as the electrical had not been collected - I had to unbox this stuff - and no instructions were with chair. I called Roe and explained to Michelle the chair a. not preassembled as agreed b. not tested obviously as it was not attached to electrical unit and c. how to put together then. She was quite unpleasant, backed off any responsibility on any of this and gave me the directions to attach the electrical (one extension cord did not fit .... so we cannot use both lengths of connection), but we got it connected and were delighted Until my wife noticed that the left arm was higher - by 3/4" - to the right arm as measured from the floor to top of arm. and the button that controls the angle of the top of the chair did nothing at all. I called Roe and they said this was ridiculous, used awful raised voices, said what I report was impossible, that the chair was fine and was when picked up. I said, how would you know if you did not test it? He refused to answer that but said they have no responsibility, that warranty requires we bring chair to them. Dan said it was damaged by our movers and our problem... nothing to do with them. Roe never helped resolve the problems. So I turned to Fjorde - the maker of the chair - and they were great. We discovered that a main mechanism to move top angle of chair was broken - and never really figured out why one arm 1inch higher than the other. Fjorde offered to replace the chair. ALL I CAN SAY IS AVOID ROE & Company in Petaluma. They are literally the very worst store I have ever had the displeasure to do business with. They are just the epitome of an ugly, self-absorbed, dumb, lazy, disorganized firm.
