Y'all, we are SICK of Sysco/US Foods restaurants with powdered eggs, rehydrated taters, onions, gravy (?!) and frozen/chef mike picking up the slack for what could be done in literally a cast Iron Skillet. Rather than going to the local places, including golden trough, shcmenny's, no-iron-nor-skillet, we ventured to this little greasy spoon and dare I say, it's legit but is NOT greasy?! Apologies, I was too hungry to get a pic of the menu but I can assure you it is solid. Walk in, order from the menu board overhead the cashier then seat yourself. Salad bar (not pictured) was well loved. We ordered two home style plates with coffee and a side of gravy for each and came in just under $35 with tip. COFFEE was great. Not a fan of the fact they didn't have real whole milk or cold half and half available but not once did any of the staff NOT ask if we needed topped off or more coffee. The sausage patties were solid. They had a bit of a hamburger taste to them so there could be some flat top cleaning that is in order. Eggs were real eggs. The biscuit I wouldn't write home about and the gravy was clearly a powdered mix that had been churched up with the aforementioned hamburger and sausage grease, hit with some pepper and slapped in a 4 oz bowl. Made for a good condiment. Speaking of condiments, everything was clean to the touch. Table, sugar packet holder, napkin dispenser, salt & pepper, the tables, the chairs. The restaurant itself did not throw off "truck stop" vibes although the scenery from the crystal clear windows was the only reminder we were, indeed, at a truck stop. I asked for hot sauce, they only had Texas Pete. YMMV on that and it's OK. Everything else I asked for was spot on fantastic. If they had a breakfast buffet with this caliber of food available, this would be THE place to stop on I95 in NC and attract the locals, too. It beats any breakfast I've had in ENC by a country mile. Kickin myself for not trying this place before. Biscuits are meh and not a fan of tipping at POS when ordering before even being served. Will order hashbrowns with onions next time and only one side of gravy because it's not REAL gravy but does make for a nice meal. And yes, there will be a next time. read more

Nothing like a truck-stop diner for a fantastic breakfast! Fresh biscuits, fried egg, cheese and a decently thick slice of country ham made for perfect breakfast sandwiches to which the chain biscuit places can't compare. Friendly staff! Cooked-to-order. Roomy with lots of indoor seating, and a few tables outside as well... although my order was to-go. read more

Breakfast all day!!! Not many places offer breakfast all day anymore and the staff is amazing and courteous. The joint has that old truck stop nostalgia which brings back a lot of childhood memories. It is definitely clean and organized. read more

Lowell Mill Restaurant won out for lunch as it wasn't far from the Atkinson Milling Gristmill Museum and also close to the Tobacco Farm Museum. Service was friendly when we arrived and they had the menu on a board and some laminated menus on the counter. I went with a burger and fries. Little did I know that it would take over 20 minutes and when it came out everyone else was pretty much done eating. The fries were also a very skimpy portion. (I hadn't eaten any yet when I took the photo) The burger was a good size with lettuce, tomato slices bacon and mayo. It would have been nice to know the burger was going to take so long to prepare as they said burgers are always 20 minutes. The manager did come around to check on the table so that was nice. I'm not sure I'd return though. read more

The restaurant is in a small truck-stop off of I-95. Many comfort food choices with large portions. Friendly staff.

Fantastic place, good food, good variety. Witnessed a typical bad customer and the staff was very delicate in dealing with their ridiculous behavior. After the dispute was settled, the bad customers continued to sit and plot their next move. Staff again dealt with them professionally. Great job! read more

Good burger...got the Carolina Classic...8oz hand pressed...Coleslaw, carmalized onion, cheddar, and I think it was supposed to have chili on it which it did not but it was still tasty...guess I have to go back again and get it with chili lol....place was clean and the server was very friendly. read more

I can't believe all of the high ratings and stars for this place. To begin with it's right next door to and in the same building with Big Boy's 66 Truck Stop. So you might know the food here is simply belly filler truck stop food. The emphasis here is on Southern Country food and they even seem to do some Low Country. You have your choice of a buffet or sit down order. I did the sit down, ordering a Country Fried Steak. I sort of knew that at $8.99 they couldn't make it all that good and they didn't. The sauce had been more than liberally doused with white pepper and had the consistency and texture of wall paper paste. Looking around I'd say half the patrons are truckers with the other half being tourists or travelers who have pulled in to fuel up. On the good side, Lowell Mill Restaurant is spotlessly clean and super friendly. For a restaurant I've seen better but as a truck stop restaurant, it's one of the best. read more

Wanted barbecue was told they haven't had any for weeks. Food was ok. Plenty of park for rv. I would not stop by again.

Excellent southern comfort food and close home cooked meals. Service was excellent and reasonably priced.

Excellent southern style food. Tastes like you're eating a Sunday's dinner in your grandmother's kitchen. You will not be disappointed.

Good plate of BBQ right off the highway. Friendly waitresses (considering the volume of people they serve) who serve from behind the counter. It's a truck stop so don't expect fancy. read more

Looked for a breakfast place to stop out during our drive. I picked this one for the high reviews and closeness to the highway. I had no idea it was a gas station Resturant. I don't get the high reviews. This place sucked. If I could give it zero I would. The food was terrible. I've never seen sausage links that looked like male appendages cut off and cooked before. The hashbrowns were nasty. Scrambled eggs were under cooked and under scrambled. I threw the whole meal in the trash next to the gas pumps. Not only that but I your anything other than white, you prob should avoid this place. The confederate flags and anti-maskers were everywhere. Very gross food and very uncomfortable place... and I'm white. read more

We stopped at Lowell Mill on the way to South Carolina. We were seated right away and our meals came quickly. I was impressed with the hot and delicious western omelette. My husband was impressed with the hash browns (not home fries) and the crispy bacon. Thank you! read more

This little restaurant is easy to miss as it is connected to a larger travel plaza. However, the breakfast options in this halfway point from Orlando to NYC are severely limited. We wanted a good southern breakfast, and this place delivered. The food was made to order, delicious, and cheap! We stopped on a Sunday morning a few days after Christmas. Our server was cheery, polite and very accommodating. Definitely the kind of place where you feel like "city slickers" walking in. The exit off of I-95 is not a large exit, and this was the only option here. This is a great alternative to the big chains like Bob Evans and Waffle House. Do yourself a favor and check out this delicious place that fed a family of four for less than $25. read more

Unlikely choice for lunch, but this place puts all other "truck stop" food to shame. The hot bar, yum. 4 meats to choose, sides, cobbler, or order from the grill. Fresh, fast and friendliest people around! Worth the drive! read more

We found this place accidentally - and boy are we glad we did! It's a hidden gem!!! Truck stop restaurant that serves a GREAT breakfast! My hubby had the Big Wheel Breakfast... which came with unlimited refills of eggs, bacon, home fries, and pancakes! Great food, terrific, friendly, down home Southern hospitality!!! read more

Big boys truck stop is the best! But the restaurant part of it is horrible! The food on the bar is really dry.

A hidden gem just off I-95. Home cooking like grandma used to make! Banana Puddin so good it makes you want to slap your mamma, so don't take her inside with you! The owners and management take pride in their business and skill and it shows! They cater too and can do low country yummies and make them upscale in presentation! A MUST EXPERIENCE! read more

Good made to order food at the truck stop. Service is great and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for a location so convenient to I-95.

Clean, newly remodeled, friendly waiters. Had the country fried steak slaw and collards, very nice and tasty. Not a bad price either.

Fantastic southern country cooking! Great location right off I 95. Large menu and a fantastic buffet. You're guaranteed to find something for everyone. A must if you are traveling and if you lucky enough to live close they have daily specials. read more

Lowell Mill Restaurant - Everything was Great!!! - Southern Near Me - Kenly, North Carolina

I stopped in my favorite spot on I-95 tonight, my first time since the newly remodel restaurant was opened. Such a disappointment! Gone is the home cooked food we all had grown to love. There's nothing but the typical frozen heat and serve fast food that you find a any Pilot/Flying J. No reason to stop here anymore! read more

Do not pass on the ribs... They are so tender that they are hard to get on your plate.. But the effort is worth it... This is a place where they worry about the food and the customer. Greeted us when we came in. Took time to say hello. Then followed it up with a great buffet of food. I repeat.. Don't pass on the ribs! read more

I ordered a chicken salad plate for lunch today. I didnt even get half way through it and found 2 bones so I didnt finish it. I showed the waitress and she talked to the manager who still made me pay for it. Their excuse was it is higher quality because it's made in house and that's why sometimes they miss the bones. How is it higher quality if there are bones in it! I was not able to replace my meal with a different one or anything! Disgisting! read more

I want to start by saying I was amazed at the service. Most truck stop diners aren't really the kind of place you want to eat unless you're on the verge of starving. I have to say whoever is working the grill has a talent for short order cooking. The things these people do with meat should be writting down for future generations. I will definitely be coming back in the future!! read more

Was traveling on route 95 looking for a breakfast diner... Nothing fancy just good food. Chose this one because of all the good Yelp reviews. Honestly, it was disgusting. Makes me really question ever trusting Yelp reviews again! read more

Today Gail and my Aunt Ginny had the pleasure of stopping here on the way to my wedding in South Carolina. The lunch was delicious and they enjoyed getting to know a nice truck driver and Billie was a wonderful waitress. This is a hidden gem to stop at while on the road for a wonderful meal and very friendly people! read more

Not sure how this place is getting 5 star reviews, it hovers around mediocre. Had the cheese-burger and pulled pork BBQ sandwich, both of which would have more flavor at any actual burger or BBQ place. Service was ok, although burgers don't come with fries and if you want napkins with your meal evidently you need to ask the server. It's a definite 3-star place, tops. Save those 5-stars for the pros read more

Yuk, pass! Overpriced cafeteria food, choice of fried chicken or meatloaf & 2 sides, instant mashed potatoes or can veggies for $8 or a $10 wrap made with brand x cold cuts, or you can order from a very limited menu, burger or fried pork chop, same stupid sides, so slow and the help Is awful, each time I went there I was charged a different price for the same thing, I give up!!! read more

1st time here! Was suggested by my cousin, as one of the last traditional truck stop/country cooking eateries! And was not disappointed. Fresh & very cold salad bar, a bit more than just warm food buffet bar. Plenty of options, but yet still simple enough to enjoy. Gotta be careful, to remember to back away from the table (trying not to over-do-it)!!! Will definitely return when in the area! And a prev post was correct... The waitress works 'very' hard & is attentive!!! read more

Just a below average breakfast. Server didn't pay attention when we ordered. But was remedied by another server.

My husband and I love to eat at LMR and Wrapideli. Fresh and hot foods served each day. Friendly staff. We also love the owners. Christian loving people. You would regret not trying them next time through on 95 in Kenly NC. read more

Stopped at Wrapideli today. Staff is very friendly including the manager/owner. We got the chicken w/ bacon & chicken Caesar wraps both of which reminded us exactly of the high quality food we are used to from NYC, etc... Very fresh ingredients, will definitely be stopping here again the next time we are passing by!!! read more

The food was excellent as well as the price. I had a ham and cheese omelet and it came with home fries and toast. My husband had 2 eggs, bacon and 2 huge pancakes. Could not eat it all. For 2 with tea and coffee it was around $17. Did a checking and got 10% off. Well worth the stop read more
