Chicken tender plate with 2 sides and spicy cornbread! Incredible!
    Miss F.

Thank heavens I don't live close!! It is that good. Mac and cheese has depth of flavor that surprised me. The beans are chock full of bbq meat bits and soft onions. The spicy cornbread with honey butter is better than dessert! And the peppery, crispy and perfectly cooked, hand-dipped chicken tenders had me eating way more than I should have. Super service, even for us to go people. I thought the price was fair until I got home and realized I got two meals for the price of one so a great deal. Next time I will enjoy one of the outside tables. Kitchen looked clean and inside was rustic but not dumpy. Lots of beers too.

Garbage AF. Hour and a half wait for a uncooked sandwich. Not even try to exaggerate. Pretty discouraging when your buddy ordered pretty much the same thing got it 20 min earlier and could take more than 2 bites without it falling apart.

Just stopped for a quick beer. Ended up ordering brisket and sides. The brisket was moist and delicious. The Mac and cheese was a great side. Also, wife had a Philly cheesesteak with brisket. It was amazing. Enough food for four. I would highly recommend them for a great meal and beer.

We ordered the pick 2...Tri-tip, pork, smoked macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, 1 of each corn bread muffin

The food was so delicious. There was so much. Good prices too. Seeing everyone's food go by us while we were waiting made us want to try more. It was our first time eating here. The service was wonderful. We will definitely go back and try new items. My husband said it will be his lunch stop while Steelhead fishing. If your near by I highly recommend stopping and getting something to eat.

Great BBQ, wonderful staff & generous portions! I ordered fries (well done) and the $1.00 wings special; six buffalo and six garlic aioli with bleu cheese on the side, and the wings were all drumettes. Crispy, tender and so delicious and all the sauces and dressings are house made! Located inside the Mad River Brewery in Blue Lake, CA. A++

The food is good, the prices though! It should be possible to get a beer and a meal at a brewery for under $20.....not the case here.

There is occasionally a jazz combo outside which can be enticing. Trinidad can be cool, so even with the space heaters, we usually choose to sit inside where the art decor is excellent and interesting. Yes, that really is a Dale Chihuly glass chandelier as you head up the stairs! Service is professional and understated. The servers know the food well and are present without being intrusive. I've been coming here for over 30 years and never had a bad server. Be sure to let them know if you're celebrating an event and they'll make your evening extra special. The food is always outstanding. The appetizer board included with your meal is such a treat of local small bites and hearty dark bread. Let your server know if you want the appetizer board to be vegetarian. Vegetarians and vegans have plenty of delicious entree options that go far beyond the usual 'pasta with vegetables' option such as the Spanakopita or the stuffed bell pepper over portobello mushroom. Meat eaters can enjoy the wide range of special barbecue options, the oysters, or fresh fish. Save room for one of their amazing desserts. We often have the Goat Cheese Coeur á la Crème which always feels decadent and light at the same time. The flourless chocolate cake is simply decadent (and not light) but oh-so-good. Larrupin Cafe is not inexpensive, but it offers great value since the service, ambiance, and food make it well worth the splurge.

It's generally very difficult to find a jewel of authenticity in many restaurants since there is no money in maintaining the highest quality of food and traditions. Unless of course you're French Laundry status. Let me tell you about this new place I have tried multiple times due to my work. I am so lucky to have found this gem in the most unlikely place! It's the hidden Garden Court Cafeteria of MRCH. I don't really know how and why it is, but I know a great restaurant, when I try their most basic things or their daily specials in the menu. In this restaurant particularly I am completely mesmerized and satisfied with the quality, quantity, price, service and the taste, mostly the taste! All the things that matter for the solid five stars. This fabulous hospital cafeteria has the unique garden to table philosophy with two acres of their own natural organic farm with no spray, Humboldt grass fed beef, Muddy Waters Coffee Co., and Wild Planet Tuna! I had double cheeseburger with amazing patties, usual wheat buns, lettuce, tomato and plenty of pickles. The single bite took me back thirty years ago, when I took a bite into my very first and the best juicy burger at the hole in the wall burger shack at Walters, Oklahoma! What a truly amazing experience! Rarely the hamburger can dig deeply into your long term memory box and pry open to give you the glimpse of the old days! I was going to have one of the savory crêpes, but then I saw that they had Al Pastor Chilaquiles on the menu. That's what I decided to go for. I ordered breakfast and a cup of coffee. The coffee was good They were pretty busy. My food comes, and it was very good. The chips were crunchy, but not greasy or oily at all, there was plenty of pork, and it had a great flavor. The crema, , the cheese and the salsa, provided a nice pop of flavor as well. She asked me if I wanted green or red salsa, or both. I asked if they were spicy, and she said no, so I chose both.. Red on one side, green on the other. They both had just a little bit of a kick to them. The red salsa had a rich, deep flavor, and I loved the green tomatillo salsa as well. I think the next time, I would ask her to put a couple of eggs on the top. That would've just taken it totally over the top. It was a great meal, and the price was reasonable, as I had plenty to take home. The only reason I'm taking a star off, is because the place was slow. They were a bit busy, and it took 20 minutes for me to get my food. I understand, they may have a small kitchen, but definitely bring your patience. As for the coffee, I only got one cup of coffee. I asked for a refill, she said she had to make a new pot, but by the time my meal was ready, she still didn't have fresh coffee available. How long does it take to make a pot of coffee? Other than those minor hiccups, I would definitely be back. Thank you. I

After all, a smuckers pb&j doesn't have the same effect as an artisanal hand pounded nut spread with homemade jam. Sometimes it's because of the locale--a caprese on a baguette in Italy for example, might include the same ingredients but be as memorable as the one at the corner cafe. And it's understandable to think that perhaps Black Sands Bistro may have the benefit of the breathtaking view. And yes, their offerings are humble. But my. Goodness. This place is amazing. The life changing sandwich in question was the breakfast sandwich special: fresh, home made foccacia. Marinated, grilled veggies. Thick sliced quality ham. Covered in perfectly melted cheese. It was incredible. I had a meatball sandwich the next day, and while it was pretty damn good I will be thinking about the Alice in Wonderland special for a good long time. As a horde of comedians descended onto the town, full of last nights beer and quippy one liners, the kitchen didn't blink an eye as they fried up plate after plate of hearty, breakfast sandwich perfection. The owners were so welcoming to all of us. They make all the baked goods in house, including that delicious foccacia. And THAT VIEW. Where else can you enjoy a good meal with a view to match? This was my first time to Shelter Cove, and Black Sands Bistro was my first place to try food at. I wasn't expecting much. But I must say, we were very pleasantly surprised! I got a cheeseburger for $17 and being that it was a tourist town, expected a small, generic McDonald's type hamburger. But it was good sized, not preformed patties, with 3 slices of tomato and generous helping of lettuce and it was juicy and very good. They gave a nice selection of baked desserts (all $5) and they are large servings and not the generic baked items you find in every other aery in California. We got the German Chocolate Cake and it was quite good. I got coffee, too and it was better than average. While not cheap, it did seem to be one of the less expensive options. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. If we go back to Shelter Cove, this will be the place we always go to.
