I was unfortunately let down by the food here - I was really excited, looking forward to the meat alternatives. I got delivery, so I hope maybe upon a second try and a true visit to the restaurant I will find better quality and nice ambiance. Came here with my boyfriend at the time and we had such a great time. The waitress was so sweet even though she didn't speak a whole lot of English. I've been here a few times, and I've always enjoyed the flavor. The amazing drumsticks are really AMAZING, and the soups, and curry are good as well. I've noticed that the portions are better here than at the Hamilton St. location, but more dishes are fried here (each bit of veggie chicken/meat is battered and fried). So my solution thus far has been to go to this Loving Hut and actively choose the dishes that are the least fried. They will also sometimes make substitutions if you ask. As a vegan with celiac disease this sort of restaurant is right up my alley. I did not mind the videos playing on several wall mounted displays with news of The Supreme Master, but it seems to indicate the owners are vegan for religious reasons. It seemed at least half of the items on the menu were available as gluten free, and my extremely sensitive gut had no complaints at all. I visited in a party of 7, all family, and just as we arrived a party of 11 also appeared. This may have been the reason for the very poor service. About half an hour went by between when the first member got his meal and when mine finally arrived - but only after my sister read them the riot act. So, the service was disorganized at best. At one point they wanted to serve us a dish another party had ordered. The food itself was excellent. My brother, a confirmed meat eater with no experience in vegan dining was very impressed, and said the flavors were excellent. I had a rice noodle dish with curry sauce. The curry had wonderful aromatic overtones and was delicious, I would have preferred for it to be more spicy, but that did not ruin the deliciousness. The rice noodles were thick, like vermicelli. A member of our group who is not 3 years old yet decided to fidget and fuss, as little ones will, and they were tolerant and pleasant anyway. I would definitely go back, but not in a large group, as the table service seems to be their Achilles heel. Prices are very low, and the quality of the food is high. read more

I loved it the first time I went, for a quiet late lunch. Had the steamed spring rolls and the szechuan eggplant. Delish. Second time was a little iffier. Had the hot and sour soup, which tasted good, but a bit corn-starchy--really thick. The spring rolls continue to dazzle--they have a crunchy ingredient, very finely sliced and fried potatoes. Quite possibly the best hot and sour soup I've ever tasted. Chock full of veggies and will clear your sinuses after a couple of bites. The dinnerware they use is very clean, white and looked new. I really appreciated this since most Thai restaurants serve you your meals on dinnerware that's from the 1800s or something. The main meal was pretty delicious I got sweet and sour "chicken" with brown rice, yum! However, I still can't get that hot and sour soup out of my mind. I would definitely go back for that alone. This place is wonderful! After some convincing, my partner and I went here to try the vegan food and see if it is really as good as it sounds. Fortunately, it has been an outstanding experience! We were uncertain as to how the vegan "meat" would be and it is remarkably tasty; there is truly no difference. Especially with the "Amazing Drumsticks". My partner is definitely a "carnivore" and he loves the food here! Additionally, the food always comes out with a nicely laid presentation on the plate. They clearly put care into these meals. Meanwhile, the prices are very affordable, which allows us to enjoy an appetizer with our meal and still keep our cost low. Besides the food, the customer service is the best I have seen! They are always very friendly and accommodating here. The manager and/or owner always comes out to say hello and make sure that we are enjoying our meal. The atmosphere is quite peaceful and calming here, as well. I always leave here feeling at ease and content with my meal. Even inspired to consider trying some vegan meals at home. Overall, I can't say enough about The Loving Hut. I highly recommend visiting if you would like a fantastic meal! read more

Worcester has officially surprised me. There is not one, but TWO Loving Huts in a city that generally isn't the most vegetarian friendly place to live. Loving Hut is a vegan Asian restaurant chain that has a bunch of locations across the US, but primarily in California. There is no meat to be had here. I am a vegetarian, but I would still recommend checking this restaurant out to my omnivorous friends. Lots of interesting options to be had here for food. I was with my father and his wife, both of whom eat meat, and they both thoroughly enjoyed the food. We tried the Sweet Coco-Taro, it was delicious. We tried the Fried Wonton Soup - also excellent. The Kung Pao Wow was good, but did not Wow me. We also tried the Humble Rice, which was quite good if you are a rice fan. The ambiance is lacking a bit. In the background there is some weird Asian TV station. It's fairly sparsely decorated though. Not a great date spot, but a good spot to grab some good food on the cheap. Been here a couple times, decent service, wide variety on their menu. Not too fancy but nice atmosphere. Everything inside is white, makes me feel relaxed for some reason. Most items seem similar as they are some type of tofu fried with some variation of sweet and sour sauce. Pretty good though! Definitely will be back. read more

Chinese food with a twist, it's vegan! I ordered the steamed potstickers which I must say I was impressed it taste just like regular potstickers. I also enjoyed the curry rice with "shrimp" which was bursting with flavor ! You can tell they used real curry. I got a piece of "cheesecake" and To me it didn't taste like cheesecake texture wise. This is a fun and weird little place. If deep fried fake meat is what you're looking for, look no further! If you're trying to get a meat loving friend to try seitan, this is your go-to place. Service is friendly, decor is enjoyable if you're into sort of cult-y multilingual musical prayers on the tv (I am) and vegan versions of Americanized Chinese food. Food was pretty good! The wonton soup was a bit spicy, but the fried spring rolls and "crab" rangoons were good. The atmosphere was clean, but the service was sub-par. Our waiter only came to out table four times TOTAL (to take our order, bring food, take our dessert order, and bring us the check) and didn't take any of our dirty dishes away until after we left the restaurant. Though our entrees and fried ice cream were delicious, the poor service nearly ruined the experience. I will only be ordering take out from here from now on. read more

I love vegan food. However, this is a very pedestrian attempt at vegan "cooking". We started with the cold sesame noodles which I love at other restaurants. Here however, we got overlooked spaghetti with melted peanut butter and it was steaming hot. Another noodle dish was also based on spaghetti with over cooked frozen (not fresh) vegetables in a taste free sauce. The spring roll is another swing and a miss featuring a ham like substance sprinkled with things you'd find in the bottom of your toaster. Oh, man. As a vegan, I can't begin to say how thrilled I am that this restaurant is about a 2-minute walk from my house. I was craving wonton soup for awhile and I knew the craving wouldn't go away until I satisfied it, so I called for take-out from The Loving Hut. It was better than I expected - and I had high expectations. The broth was rich and flavorful, there were plenty of veggies (cabbage, carrots, even a few pieces of broccoli) and a good amount of wontons. I only wish the wontons had been wrapped better, as I ate my soup they began falling apart. To be honest I didn't mind too much (it gave me more bites with wonton in it) but it was a little bit of a disappointment. Because I'm planning on making a big dinner for friends and family I didn't want to order too much food, just enough to tide me over for a few hours. I got the steamed wonton soup, the sweet coco-taro, and the coffee coconut smoothie. The smoothie was so delicious I sucked the thing down before I got home - and considering how short the walk is that's impressive. The sweet coco-taro was good but just not my thing. However I would definitely recommend it to others - it was just a situation in which I could tell it was tasty but just not for my palette. I can't wait to order from them again and again, the prices are so affordable and $3.50 for a soup that filled me right up was awesome. Overall I was very impressed! I can't wait to try their dumplings and their Italian soup. This has to be THE BEST Vegetarian restaurant on the planet. I have been a loyal customer now for 4+ years. Wonderful selections and gracious family all work together to bring their guests superb food and service with a smile. Their once a month buffet is a showstopper, and it is hard to find seating during these Saturdays! I only wish I could find the custom-made recipe for the fruit salad dressing they serve. We ordered takeout and we were given some completely random order. By the time we drove 20 minutes home we realized they gave us someone else's food. We ordered one appetizer sampler two entrees and two smoothies. The drinks were the only things they got right. I'm so glad we didn't get our order cuz we would be stuck with so much more bland and overcooked food! We were both totally starving and didn't even have enough food to fill us up. To make matters worse, when my boyfriend went there to get the order, no one was even at the counter for 10 minutes then he had to wait another 10 minutes after the woman came out because she took a phone call. The best-tasting vegan pho I've ever had. The vegan phos I've tried at other restaurants usually taste thin and only feature vegetables or tofu with the noodles. Worcester's Loving Hut perfectly captures the rich broth and tasty meatballs and flank of great bowl of pho. The summer rolls and crab rangoon also deserve recognition for tasting like the real thing. It's a bit of a shame that each restaurant in the Loving Hut chain operates independently and with different menus, because I'd love to be able to get this pho outside of Worcester. read more

I think I like this branch more. The food are a larger portion here. God's Rice Noodle was good. Not very oily compare to other Chinese restaurant with similar type of noodle dish. I couldn't really taste the different "specialties" in the Triple Specialties. The soy meat are all fried in a batter and comes with a little white/brown rice. I have a few friends that meet in Sturbridge a couple times a yr. We were meeting yesterday and I threw out a curve and said lets meet at the Loving Hut in Worcester. As a Vegan I have read about the chain and was anxious to try it. As I drove there from Western Ma, I got nervous...as I was driving through some less than desireable areas of the city. I was th elast to arrive and th eplace was adorable. Clean bright and very friendly atmosphere. The menu was a Vegans delight. To be honest I was overwhelmed. We were talking and reading and I couldnt really focus. There were no bad choices. The waiter (poor thing) came over a few times and we weren't ready. He recommended the Loving Rolls as an appetizer. OMG - they were amazing. I ended up with the Kung Pao Wow entree. It was fantastic. I only wihs I could have read each and every offering to enjoy all the options. I will definately go bac, maybe when my daughter and her bf visit. So excited to have a Loving Hut within easy driving distance of me! The service by the way was exceptional. I think the owner and perhaps his wife came out..to check on us. They were VERY attentive to our needs and were were not easy and were were yacking so much. I am thrilled. I can't say enough good things about this place. In a million years I never thought I would enjoy a vegetarian restaurant. Today its a solid healthy go to. Every dish has been a home run. Aesthetically, the place is bare bones and no frills. Not fine dining. But if you are looking to eat healthy , dine in or take out. This is the place to go. So, when we were visiting a friend in Worcester this past weekend, and she suggested we go here for dinner, I was a little apprehensive. I'm glad we went though, this location was very spacious, the service was great, and the food was good. We decided to order several dishes and eat family style to try many options. We had The Fresh Loving Rolls, The Lucky Dumplings, God's Rice Noodle, Moo Goo Gai Pan, and Healthy Sesame Broccoli. The broccoli was cooked just right, and the fake chicken and beef were tasty. I wasn't sure how I felt about the fake sausage but other than that, everything was great. Plus, you get to figure out what the point of all the randomness on the TVs mean. read more

Now renamed "Loving Hut", the food here is very reminiscent of the offerings at Quan Yin Vegetarian on Hamilton Street, which I understand is now similarly renamed. Loving Hut's fortune cookies feature quotations from self-proclaimed "Supreme Master" Ching Hai and the dining room features a TV that is eternally tuned to her "Supreme Master Television" satellite station, so I can only assume these are the same people that have run the former Quan Yin for many years. After being promptly greeted and brought to our table, my companion and I both ordered the Thai Iced Tea, which was surprisingly rich and creamy, although the deep orange coloring of the drink initially gave me pause. We selected the Ocean Love Rangoons for our appetizer. The vegetable-stuffed wontons were fried to a perfect level of crispiness, the soy-based imitation crab was reasonably crab-like, and the plum sauce was sweet and tangy without being overpowering. We ended up splitting orders of both the Healthy Fried Rice and the Thai General Chicken. While I doubt that fried rice can ever be termed "healthy", it was definitely lacking in the usual greasiness of the fried rice you will find at most Chinese food places. The fried imitation chicken chunks were dipped in a mild chili sauce that had a slight kick, but wasn't anywhere near the sinus-clearing level of spiciness some people might be looking for. It also came with some steamed rice, which mixed very well with the aforementioned chili sauce. Finally, our entire meal came to under thirty dollars, which was more than reasonable.
