E66. Pepper Steak Stir-Fry gluten free

Flipping FABULOUS!!! Come to find out there is a location closer to me in the Hudson Valley - in Ledgewood NJ. Stopped here coming back from Maine to Ny and so glad we did. The service was wonderful, this man conquered 7 tables by himself and we only waited up to a couple minutes for each encounter. Their coconut milk ice coffee is a MUST. The spring rolls made gluten free were absolutely deliciously wrapped in rice paper. Thai coconut soup - GET IT!! (Only issue I had was the peas and cabbage were a little overwhelming). Next time I will get the soup - broth and tofu only. Mongolian fried rice was impeccable. Bathrooms were clean, place was easy to get to and street parking was easy in the evening on a Thursday. Can't wait to try to Ledgewood location!

My non-vegan husband and I picked up lunch from here yesterday. The service was quick and friendly. We both ordered the sweet and sour "chicken" with rice, and my daughter got a steamed vegetables. We shared the mozzarella sticks and a piece of chocolate peanut butter cake. Everything was so good. We look forward to having another meal here again.

Lets set aside for a moment the cult and cult leader Ching Hai who is behind the Loving Hut chain.... I was first introduced to Loving Hut in Orlando some years back. I have been meaning to try out one of these Wusta locations for years now. The dumplings were good. The sweet & sour "chicken" was well executed but greasy. They make it with wheat gluten so it approximates the texture of chicken. The pieces are small but the batter is like a typical chicken finger style batter. Tastewise I wouldve preferred straight up tofu fingers in this dish. Also because the gluten pieces are small, you're eating a lot of batter/grease. I also tried the pepper grill "steak". Everything about it was perfect except for the soy protein they used. It was the saltiest thing ever and was sliced thin like lunch meat. Small gluten cubes would have been better for me and the sauce was salty enough on its own. Each dish was served with a hear shaped portion of rice. I'm glad they survived the pandemic and there was a steady stream of delivery service orders going out the door. I'd have to say that the food was 2 stars but they earned an extra star with the total experience. Back to the cult thing.... Because these restaurants are franchises and run locally, I have to brush the chain's origin to the side and just take a look at what the location is doing. Does some of my money go to a cult leader who built an illegal island in protected waters in florida who then fled the country to avoid prosecution? Perhaps.... But Im not holding that against the individual restaurant owners.

The God's rice noodles

It's a simple looking establishment. Server brings a hot pot of tea over when you're seated and greeted. This is not a fast food. Sit relax. Appetizers I ordered were the triple dumplings and crispy& crunchy rolls which were tasty. For dinner I enjoyed the God's rice noodles. Delicious not over flavored. Dessert I tried the taro rice pudding. I wanted so badly to like it. It was very thick and maybe too starchy for my liking. I will go back again. The servers also were very nice

Pad Thai noodles are a great hit here. They actually managed to create something so similar to pad Thai but different, by using tomato paste sauce. Also I love their egg rolls and plum sauce

We tried the ogeat lemonade (very refreshing), miso carrots appetizer (both of us loved - very unique flavors), the spicy tantanmen (not too spicy/was just right for me), the lamb wontons (not our favorite - only 4 dumpling shaped wontons, flavors heavy on the lamb, might not be filling), and lastly, the brown butter ice cream (topped with pepper which was interesting! But very delicious). They were able to accommodate nut allergies easily and everything tasted amazing. The total came out to be about $35-$40 per person depending on tip. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, and the space was clean. Parking wasn't an issue at all.

I got the spicy ramen and my partner got the chicken non spicy one, please refer to pics as I forgot the name... highly recommend getting the chicken ramen, the broth is light and savory, additionally lots of protein and veggies to make it the perfect ramen bowl. The spicy ramen was okay, I love spice but this one was a bit starchy as if too much starch was used to thicken the broth. The noodles were also way too soft; and there's very little protein. I got beansprout as an add on and that was $2; a bit much if added onto the bowl.

Pros: Cozy, British pub style atmosphere; interesting small plates, not too expensive…read more Cons: gets extremely crowded in the evenings; very loud when crowded; staff is snobbish I've been here a few times, and my most enjoyable experiences were during lunch. If you can sit at the bar or in one of the 2 tables by the window, you'll get excellent service. The charcuterie board is great, and the drink selection is also pretty good. However, the last time we came here, it was the middle of the afternoon on Valentine's day. I'm from Boston and Cape Cod and my partner is European; we look like it and we act like it. Upon a brief interaction with the hostess, we both felt spoken down to: "YOU'RE trying to come in on Valentine's day? Without a reservation?" This, coming from someone with a Worcester accent who was dressed like a boy going to church choir. We were shooed away into the dining area: "I guess you could stand over there and look at the menu". It's about 330 in the afternoon- most tables are completely empty. Then a different staff member, also with a working class accent, says "I need you to clear out of this walkway because this is for staff only", despite the fact that no staff were walking there and we had been standing there about 20-30 seconds. We left without saying anything as the hostess tried to say something to us. If you want to feel spoken down to, in the working class city of Worcester no less, come here. Alternately, if you're feeling aggressive and want to squeeze your way in to sit touching shoulder to shoulder, come here. The time before this, the hostess was a soft-spoken woman who mumbled a lot; we had to elbow people out of the way at the middle bar section, which is where she directed us. Maybe in another year I'll want to come back for lunch only. Honestly, I'd rather drive back to Boston if I'm going to be treated snobbishly.
