Love all there cakes and they have a wide range of pastries to choose from such as cupcakes, cookies, danish etc. There buttercream frosting is always amazing and smooth and buttery. I'd been going there and buying their products for many years until I had to give up driving due to a spinal issue. My daughter now picks up whatever I would like. She loves them also. Everything I've tried has always been great! No problems ever. The folks there are friendly and very helpful. I don't know how they do it but other breads make my stomach hurt, their bread doesn't do this nor do any of their other products. A pound of butter cookies disappears in short order, they seem to melt in one's mouth. Their cakes? They're fantastic. I'm a chocoholic who really doesn't like fruit combined with chocolate but after receiving a birthday cake with raspberry filling I'm hooked for life! The cakes are light and moist at once and the buttercream frosting has a delightfully silky feeling. I really can't say enough about this bakery. The only thing that stops me from giving this place a five star rating is that their bread game is weak. Cakes and other pastries, top notch availability. Bread varieties like sourdough and croissants, and after thought. I've gone there twice now to see if anything was available and each time there was barely anything available. This is not a bad thing for a shop that specializes in cakes and other treats, just disappointing for me. Their cafe also gets top marks for variety. The shop overall gets the highest praise for their excellent employees. I went there yesterday for a light lunch (and a loaf of sourdough or some croissants) and had a delicious panini, chips, and a cup of hot chocolate. The eating area was clean and comfy. The store also hosts small events as I witnessed a senior book club meeting. There is a seemingly nice bookshelf if you want to grab something to read whike you laze about. There is available outdoor seating that I couldn't use like I wanted to since the weather man failed to predict the rain. Stopped by Lovin Oven for a few treats. I picked up a lemon poppy seed muffin, a cheese kolacky, tiramisu, snickerdoodle cookie, and a turtle brownie. This was about $15 which seemed reasonable. The muffin was surprisingly amazing. I wish I got a few others to try. Loved the cheese kolacky. Tiramisu was perfect as always. The turtle brownie reminded me of an upscale cosmic brownie because of the texture but the flavor was better. The only item I didn't care for was the snickerdoodle cookie. It was crispy and crunchy and had an odd flavor. I've bought this cookie a few times because I have a bad memory and didn't recall not liking it. Oh well. 4/5 items being great isn't bad at all. On November 2nd, 2024 I met with a Wedding Coordinator in the bakery department. After looking through various books and tasting different types of wedding cakes I selected a three layer lemon cake. I tried all types of fillings and loved the combination of the lemon curd with the raspberry filling and thought that the buttercream frosting would be a spectacular compliment for the entire cake. I wanted something very simply and chose decorative flowers in spring colors with sage green leaves. I had a simple pearl decoration on the top tier of the cake and a beautiful scroll pattern on the bottom. The cake was delivered to the Lehmann Mansion. It was moist and so good there was only one piece left for us to take with us, at the end of the night. read more

Purchased a horrible pannini that actually wasn't a pannini at all just a throw together tasteless turkey toasted sandwich ...not a pannini and also a lemon,blueberry cake with icing that was absolutely horrible...called the manager Lita who was the worst manager I have ever spoken with basically she wouldn't just reimburse the sandwich even tho it wasn't what I ordered at all because we did eat some of it not because it was good thats for sure she lookup on the cameras to verify...not let's make things right so you come back again no not her she basically called me a liar on the phone...so of course things got heated then... shes a joke! We spent a $100 that day on pizzas and baked items and lunch have was not even hardly edible yet she was fighting the whole time on the phone I just wanted a reimbursement for the cake and pannini because both not acceptable...shes not fit to be a manager shes absolutely HORRIBLE!!! Stay clear of this business been going here since it opened always spending on lunch, pastries ,ect. But with that kinda of response from this horrific woman we dont need to go in that ridiculous business again...Bye-bye! Horrible experience! She doesn't even deserve one star ! The horrible manager reimbursed the cake which was $14.95 ×tax she reimbursed $14.30 wth??!! One of my favorite bakeries after having experienced the product for the first time when referred by our wedding venue for our wedding cake. As there is not a location too close to my home (which is actually a good thing), we do enjoy when we are in the area of Round Lake or Antioch. I can not say there is anything I've tried that I do not like. The price maybe, but you have to pay for the good stuff. My all time favorite is the chocolate cupcakes. The facilities are always clean and the staff is kind even under the pressure of many people waiting in line. .... the goods are just that delicious. It's worth the wait. Wonderful bakery with delicious cakes but if you have a problem good luck getting management to reply. I ordered a Queen Anne cake which is typically decorated with beautiful scroll work. The girl who took my order did not seem knowledgeable when taking my order. My husband picked up the cake and did not ask to see it. When he got home I noticed the cake was not decorated as it should have been and looked very plain. The next day after serving it, I contacted the Antioch store and asked to speak to a manager. I was told that was not possible and to send an email instead. I was not even given a name. After a week I never received a reply. Called again. Told i had to send an email addressed to management. What a treat Lovin Oven Cakery is! (Pun intended!) My manager mentioned that I needed to stop in to this place when I was in the area. It was 100% worth it! What tasty treats they sell. There's a lot of variety in their desserts, so you won't leave empty handed. Inside there is plenty of space to sit, as well as a more high end area to discuss wedding cakes. The only disappointment is that the cafe with real food had very limited hours. Because of that, they didn't have any drinks other than water on hand. I would have enjoyed getting a sandwich and soda over just treats. (I know-- I'm weird that way!) Something to also pick up while there are their locally made dog treats! My family and I went on a road trip for Chicago and we decided to gas up at a mobile gas station in Antioch along the way, we discovered in the Mobile gas station there was a bakery with some of the coolest looking cake treats we've seen in a while. Stumbling across this place was serendipitous. It's more superbakery than cute little neighborhood spot, but nonetheless it's bright and cheerful. In addition to the long bakery counter there is also a café and a wedding cake room. The variety of pastries, cakes, cookies, muffins and pies was astounding, with something to please everyone. Of course they will personalize cakes and cookies for any occasion. Some breads and rolls are available, but the majority of the baked goods are aimed at the sweet tooth. Sugar-free items are available, too; it's best to call ahead. We took home a pound of sugar-free rugelach, which went very quickly. We arrived there shortly before 2 PM, just as the café was winding down for the day, but the tempting menu of several breakfast and lunch items assures that we will eventually return for a meal. read more

Turkey cake for Thanksgiving - please make sure you see a picture before you order. This is not their turkey cake pre-COVID. Purchased before & was big hit at office. Everyone was amazed at how real it looked. This year it cost $40+ for what looked like a defective round cake - high on one end, lower on the other with a couple of mini frosting "legs" stuck on it (did not look like legs much less drumsticks) and a couple of frosting carrots around edge. Looks like less work to create this than to make and frost a decorated birthday cake. I was so impressed last time that I took a picture and ordered one for my brothers family in TN so that we could zoom & eat turkey cake together. That bakery did a better job off of a picture than the cake I picked up today. I am embarrassed that I talked this cake up and now I have to take it in. If you want something that looks nice, get the cake decorated like a turkey decoration. I also can't believe I drove 50+ miles out of the way for this cake. Would not have purchased if I hadn't prepaid. Service: The staff is very courteous and professional. I kind of felt badly for the young woman who waited on me and saw the look of disappointment on my face when I picked it up. She was kind.
