Yum! This sweet bakery had so many delicious treats. We got a variety of things to try, and they were all so good! My absolute favorite was the Oreo Brownie- it was fudgy, moist, and fresh. I loved it! They had fun drinks and coffee as well. We went with the Matcha Frappe -- a go-to for me and it didn't disappoint. The service was great, friendly and helpful. Sweet little bakery, clean and calm inside. I can't wait to come back and try more goodies!

Amazing customer service, and an even more amazing cake. Truly one of the best cakes I've gotten! Customized birthday cake, with a picture! And fair pricing!

Another beautiful creation! A Taylor Swift inspired cake for my daughter's birthday. Can't say enough positive things about this wonderful bakery

Wow! Their pasties and cakes are high quality and value for the price! They can create any custom cake for you. The pastries and cakes we ate were so tasty and not sweet at all! We sampled some of their cakes and all of my kids would fight over the Mil Hojas pastry instead! The Mil Hojas is a puff pastry filled with cream topped with white chocolate mousse and fresh fruit. It was the only thing the kids wanted to eat more of. I liked the coco flan. The horchata cupcake was good too. Make sure to call and reserve your order ahead of time. They do a lot of little pastries for company parties. Check out their Facebook page for their updated specials and deals! Their service was top notch when we first walked in the door. They will take care of their customers like their own family! Plenty of space to eat inside enjoying their tasty pastries and cakes with a European flair! Plenty of space to park in front and in back too! I am ordering again for their variety of assorted pastries for our next family gathering! Julio was so great at answering our questions and welcoming us to their family owned business that I thought they should franchise. So, I would recommend this to my family and friends for any occasion!

I have ordered three cakes from Samaris Sweet Creations and have absolutely loved all three. I especially loved the chocolate cake with coffee filling. I highly recommend their cakes.

Time for another shoutout to a local business this part of the burbs - SAMARIS SWEET CREATIONS at Mundelein rocks! Our lil one who turned 2 last week loves Cats. Samaris created the one in Red to match our daughters dress and the other is from Pinterest which we had selected. Ain't it gorgeous? Buttercream frosting Red Velvet cake with two layers of White Chocolate Cream in between. Generous cream and lots of yummy cake We asked for the wool ball to be left out, extra fondant which wouldn't be eaten anyway. Candle from Party City. This beauty set us back by $50. At a party, 20 ppl can have this easily. Fantastic work Samaris, super happy! PS : While there don't miss out their Tres Leches cake, it's worth every bite

I usually prefer savory over sweet, but Samaris' baked goods are absolutely delicious. We ordered takeout cupcakes for graduation, and we were pleasantly surprised at how they good they were. For the first time in a long while (possibly ever), I've actually enjoyed eating buttercream icing. It wasn't overly sweet, but still rich and creamy with a subtle mocha flavor. The cupcake itself was soft and moist, and the fondant logo was also cleverly designed. I would definitely consider ordering from Samaris for future birthdays or other celebrations.

I have seen posts on FB about this place so of course I wanted to try it while I was in the area…read more The place itself gave Parisian cafe vibes that was clean with cute decor and plenty of seating. Unfortunately that's where it stopped for me. They had baked goods on a wall display and a display by the counter, along with cake in a refrigerator. Unfortunately, none of it looked fresh nor did any of it stood out to me or was very appeasing. The regular croissants looked very dry and flaky and the chocolate croissants were flat and smashed looking. Even the cake in the refrigerator looked dry... I did end up buying a lemon blueberry scone along with an almond danish- and I feel like I wasted $10. My 10 year old child thought the scone was old and stale. The almond danish basically was phyllo dough with a big dollop of almond paste- I couldn't even eat half of it. They do have a menu with soup and croissant sandwiches, but they're very over priced. $18.50 for a bacon egg and cheese croissant!?! Hard pass for me. Some advice should you choose to try this place, keep an eye out on your receipt. While I do hope it was an honest mistake- the guy working there was nice- he charged me $6/piece for the scones and the danish when they were actually $5/piece. I did bring it to his attention before I paid and he did adjust the prices. Whatever he rang them up as- was not listed as a "scone" or "danish."

The bacon egg and cheese on croissant was unbalanced, unsavory, too cute on presentation, not enough on substance. Overpriced at $18.50. Balsamic drizzle on the plate looked more like Italy than Paris. Absolutely no one in the cafe at 10-1030 on a Friday morning on the town square. Sorry, can't say I would return here again.

This has been my routine for decades, yet I just realized that I had never actually left a rating for it. What makes this bakery especially appealing is its soft, airy, and smooth bread and buns, which are handmade using ingredients sourced directly from Japan. My personal favorite is the red bean bun. While my sister loves their sandwiches and milk bread, which has an incredibly soft, fluffy, and moist texture. All of their bread and buns are made fresh daily. Many years ago, they even allowed their staff to take home any unsold sandwiches and bread at the end of the day! With increasing competition from newer Korean and Taiwanese bakeries, I hope Pastry House Hippo continues to stay competitive. As a self-serve bakery, it would be nice if the buns were individually wrapped, something many other bakeries already do, to help prevent contamination from careless customers. My most recent visit was on the second day of the new year, and I was happy to see the shop bustling with customers. I hope this little bakery continues to thrive for many years to come.

In addition to that, it leaves a very weird after taste in the mouth- like artificial sugar was used. For $6.99 (with tax)- it was a waste of money. The place is pretty much self serve- you grab a tray and tongs and they bag everything when you get rung up. Cakes are behind the counter and you order when you get to the register. My interaction was very minimal- the cashier rung me up and I paid.

I drove over an hour each way because of the incredible reviews--and every single one proved true. In fact, my experience exceeded even my highest expectations. I've been baking from scratch for my family for more than 50 years, so I know the real thing when I taste it. This bakery is unquestionably baking from scratch. Honestly, I can finally retire my mixer and my family won't know the difference. Even my grandson--who is as selective as they come and doesn't usually care for pound cake--took one bite of my sample and immediately asked for a slice for the ride home. That says everything. Kesha, the owner, is personable, friendly, professional, and simply phenomenal. Businesses like this deserve our full support because they feel like our own community treasures. I had the ladies walk me through the flavors and they explained the deep fried pound cake! I ordered a flight: peach cobbler, double batter, strawberry and cookie batter. We had a dedicated server who was kind, friendly, and young -- and her slight lack of experience only added to the charm. It felt human, unpolished in the best way, and refreshingly sincere. The classic three-tier stand delivered a joyful tasting journey: savory finger sandwiches, lovely cakes and sweets (including their excellent macarons and madeleines), plus warm buttery scones and tasty mini quiches served separately. It was a cornucopia of small delights; generous, comforting, and clearly made with care. The tea selection is also wonderful and thoughtfully curated. What truly stood out, though, was the lack of pomposity. No stiffness, no theatrics, just good food, good tea, and a feeling that you've been welcomed into someone's home. Easily one of the best high tea experiences in the Chicago area. Lovely, cozy, and full of heart.

It's small and sweetly decorated (Eiffel Towers, rolling pins, Guy de Maupassant quote, stack of macarons tower), with cafe tables along the sidewalk. But it's the bakery cases that draw the eye, of course. A rainbow of macarons, stacks of croissants. Pastries like jewels. I ordered a tomato, basil & mozzarella quiche. They let me know it would take a few minutes to heat up. I also ordered a cafe au lait and almond croissant. The croissant was very large, a little more crispy than I like, and filled with a liquidy almond, not paste. It was very good, although not the best croissant I've had. The quiche was marvelous, soft and delicate, and basil scented with a flaky crust. It was not overly cheesy -- just the right amount. I ordered a slice of salmon quiche to go. I also selected a half-dozen macarons to take away. They were delicate, with a slightly crunchy outer layer and a sweet and flavorful center. I loved the Coralie Coffee flavor as well as the rest.
