I had a big vision for my birthday cake, since I have been looking forward to this birthday theme for years. And all I can say is - THEY DID IT. (Detailed review below. TL;DR: Absolutely will be back. Quick, easy, and transparent communication about vision, price, and all in between.) Cake Details: 9-inch, heart-shaped, marble cake with fresh strawberries, $94 INITIAL COMMUNICATION It was literally 2 minutes before closing time when I called them for the first time (my planning mishap). However, someone picked up and offered immediate, friendly assistance. I figured ordering a custom cake takes more than just 2 minutes, so I offered to call back in the morning, but she was extremely eager and motivated to help me right then and there. We discussed the general details (size, theme, flavors, shape, etc.) over the phone, and I was then provided with a phone number to text additional information and reference pictures. CUSTOMIZATION I sent 3 cake pictures as references to the phone number, and explained which elements I want from each cake. Also, I wanted a heart-shaped cake instead of a round one. I was very picky, I admit, but the team was incredibly accommodating and happy to fulfill ALL my wishes - big and small. I also sent 3 more pictures of characters I wanted to add, and yet again, they accommodated. TRANSPARENCY The communication was so easy and clear. I inquired about the price at our first meeting, and was told that all added decorations are included. (The price would have only changed if I had added another tier, changed the size, or made any other dramatic changes.) This was amazing. I was able to tell them all my detailed wishes, and I never once feared about the final price, since their communication was so clear. OVERALL This is a great business to support and order from. I was very picky in what I wanted for my cake, and they were able to match it perfectly. All my guests loved the cake - looks and taste. And it tasted as good the following days. Added Note: One of our guests is gluten-free, and I was prepared to provide a gluten-free dessert for them; however, the bakery being gluten-free is just another great bonus, and my gluten-free friends will travel to this bakery in the future. The door looks like a side door, so just kind of "go for it" when your GPS brings you nearby. The bakery is simply put together, the magic is in the goods. The employees checked my order looked okay with my before boxing things up and were incredibly pleasant. While the checkout process was a bit off (card readers for small businesses suck, no fault of theirs), we were able to keep a positive attitude and fix the problem. If you want your special day to be ruined use them. I usually be politically correct, but she made such a terrible cake for my sons 6 month bday. We ordered an eggless chocolate cake with chocolate filling and it was dry overly sweeeet. The cake was raw from inside. She baked it last second without giving proper time for proofing. I called with a last minute request for vegan cupcakes for my nephew's birthday. They were incredibly kind and accommodating and with less than 24 hours notice I expected them to limit my choices to a single flavor but instead they baked and decorated a dozen vegan cupcakes in 4 different flavors! They were a HUGE hit and people started splitting them in order to try another flavor. My boyfriend ordered a cake for me from here as a surprise for getting straight A's. He said he chose the cake flavor and filling flavor and gave them an image he wanted printed on top. After seeing it, my boyfriend mentioned that the cake had sprinkles that correlated with my college's school colors. He said he had not specified to them to do that, and it showed the staff went out of their way to look that up add a little more flair to the cake which we thought was super sweet. If you ever are looking to order eggless cakes, I do not recommend this place at all! I generally let it go if I am not happy with the service but this totally ruined a special moment for us - my sons half birthday:( I called them on Tuesday to see if I could order a cake for Friday, she said yes- I sent her two designs on their facebook page- she said its possible but for one she can only do chocolate cake with vanilla frosting bcz thats the only option for eggless but then for the second design, she can do a few flavors such as red velvet and chocolate with chocolate filling and gave an estimate of $85 and $120 for the each of these designs. I asked her whats making the cake so expensive - she said the more the fondant, more will be the price .. and the last she can take order was Wednesday. So I told her Ill call her back confirming the design and order by Wednesday, which is what I did . I picked a design to reduce the fondant so that we dont have to eat so much fondant as no one really likes fondant and also to reduce the price but she still didnt reduce the price, but I trusted her and went ahead and placed the order. I clearly told her that we dont like too much sweetness in the cake, she said the eggless frosting is not too sweet so I was rest assured. I asked for chocolate flavor with chocolate filling I wanted the boy character on top of the cake as per the design in the cake, she said she will try but they might not enough time to set the boy on the cake so I was flexible enough and told her she could do a teddy instead, but she said she will try the boy character first. I go to pick the cake on Friday at 4pm - when I see the cake- I was kinda not happy with the finishing- the cake looked crooked, the teddy instead of the boy looked scary and messy but I didnt say anything, thinking it doesnt matter, all that matters was the taste. We cut the cake, the first bite we were so angry - the cake was extremely sweet - 2 or 3 times the sweetness of a regular cake. The cake had vanilla filling instead of chocolate and then the entire cake was underbaked, dense and very hard on the edges. None of our family and friends ate the cake. I was so so mad ... I call her the next day to give her my review as it really bothered me, especially when you pay so much money for a special cake and the baker ruined the entire moment by baking such a terrible cake. On the call, she kept saying that the cake was very good bcz she took the same cake for her family and they loved it, and wasnt even willing to calm down an unsatisfied customer, she was very rude and wasnt ready to even accept her mistake. Beware before you get carried away by all the 5star reviews from other customers, we didnt have a good experience with them especially with the eggless cake order. This place is a gem. After Ali's closed, we were struggling with finding gluten free bakery options for our Celiac daughter. They were able to help with a last minute cake, which turned out beautifully and was so delicious that nobody could believe it was gluten free. We stopped by after a soccer game once, and my daughter was overjoyed to discover that she could choose ANYTHNIG in the display counter for a treat, since the GF dedicated places are few and far between. These sweet souls were so nice on the phone when I called last minute for a smash cake for my daughter who has multiple allergies. Not only were they willing to make the cake last minute, they stayed open later to make sure I got it. I asked for a "1" on top for my daughter's birthday and they included a beautiful cake topper at no additional cost. These people have such big hearts and it shows in their service. Very rude customer service and poor quality cakes. We ordered a gluten-free 8" birthday cake with chocolate-fudge icing, and Allison was pleasant. However when we picked it up and ate it, the frosting was twice as sweet as it should be. It gave me a headache. My husband and I called back twice. The woman we spoke to on the phone (she did not give her name), was very rude - she even lied to my husband saying she had offered to me to pick it up and fix it. She hung up the phone on him. It is upsetting as a paying customer, to be treated in this manner. The only way we could eat this $50 cake was to scrape off the frosting! As a comparison, Pepperidge Farms has a $3 chocolate-fudge cake in Walmart and the frosting is about half this sweetness. We regret buying from this bakery with rude customer service. We recently had Dalton's prepare our wedding cake , as well as 120 cupcakes for our guests. They made it so gorgeous and personal, elegant and sophisticated while being sweet and simple. Went in here this morning to order a smash cake for our lil one and I was totally impressed with the way everything was taken care of. Right from the warm welcome to the discussions around our order. We interacted with Alana and she went through every single detail with such a kind and patient attitude. I had a picture that I wanted replicated and they were more than willing to accommodate. The other remarkable thing is that they are great with allergies and making food accommodations for it. We did quite a drive on a snowy morning, simply because we wanted a dairy free cake and were told Daltons is the place to go. Clearly we can see why. It is a family owned business and they have family with various allergies so they totally understand the seriousness / complexity of it. I loved how they translated that into a business. I am so happy that my little family stumbled upon this bakery. We originally sought it out because we bid on a gift certificate at a school function. Like most things, the GC sat on my counter for weeks waiting to be used at some point. One Saturday we were up and decided to pop in for a visit. First of all, I totally drive past this place pretty regularly and did not notice it so shame on me. But it was not busy when we arrived and the lady at the counter was friendly and patient with my eternally indecisive preteen. We had two separate orders... one for my gift certificate totin' daughter and one for the rest of us who had to pay for our food. The employees were very nice to the children and helpful while she tried her damnedest to use all of the money. Luckily for us, she was unsuccessful so we have a chance to visit this bakery again! The brownie I had was delicious and my toddler and I ended up arguing over who would get the last bite. My older ones finished their ice cream in record time and in absolute silence which a mother will never complain about. And the portions sizes were good enough that no one bugged me for more! This is the most amazing cake and sweet business around! I have celiac disease and it is very very hard to find a business that can attend to your needs and actually guarantee it is gluten free. Dalton's is beyond amazing and not only do they make gluten free, they also offer vegan!!! I have been blown away every single time we have placed an order with them and I don't know how much better it can get. Gluten free can be hard to master to where it's delicious, so vegan is even harder let alone gluten free AND vegan. They have the most amazing chocolate gluten free and vegan cupcakes around. They are moist and have a rich chocolate taste and last for quite a while while you have them in the fridge. We have been coming to Dalton's for a couple years now and are going to be permanent customers. They additionally have the softest and most delicious sugar cookies. You dream it up and they make it happen. I've had a few designs I've had ordered and they were amazing! They were fresh and the frosting was just perfect as well. They also have tons and tons of other sweets including their delicious gluten free cinnamon rolls! They were wonderful taking my info and payment over the phone, and my friend and her family said the cupcakes were beautiful, thoughtful, and delicious. She said the name banner was indeed spelled correctly, the cursive writing just looks to most people viewing the photo as "Valarie", instead of "Valerie". Reduced stars, because there was no note or info with the delivery showing who it was from. Her son said they shouldn't eat it until finding out, so she posted on Facebook. Finally I texted (hadn't seen her post) to see if she had received anything. She texted back, "Was it cupcakes?!"
