Kudos to Loves Heating & Air!!! Our geothermal (Water Furnace) stopped cooling over the weekend. Of course, there was an extreme heat advisory that day and we had out of town guests. Love's had a tech working in the area on Monday til 5 o'clock. They scheduled him to check our HVAC after he finished. Their tech arrived at 6:00pm!!! He was ready to work. The tech (Steven Rinkus - 12 years experience) quickly diagnosed the problem. It was a capacitor failure. He had the part on the truck! 30 minutes later we had air. Had love's come over and give me an estimate to fix a non functioning inside air handler. Within 5 minutes of their Tech arrival the trouble was diagnosed to the Air handler control board, which was very obviously fried. ( Charged $119 for the 5 minute service call) The following work day I received a Quote for $522.45 to replace the board($267,50) and installation($255) of the same. i ordered the board for $7.50 with a shipping cost of $10.00 and about 5 minutes of my time to remove and replace the board. I certainly will never again use love's for any repairs - i would call this Highway robbery!!!!! read more

Pandemic Price Gouging at its worst. Had this outfit price replacing an evaporator coil. According to a popular home improvement website (AL) the repair should have been between $350-$900 for my size unit. The technician who estimated the repair said: The cost after the labor, Freon at $85 per pound, New Jersey transportation and disposal fee for the evacuated oil, nitrogen fee and hazmat charges would be $2000 and the coil was covered under warranty so there were no parts included. Luckily for me I did not use them. I paid $700 to their competitor for this repair. Do yourself a favor and get multiple estimates, know what it should cost. read more

summary: wooden beam cut, took no responsibility, threatened "legal action" if I wrote about it I hired Love's Heating and Air to install a geothermal HVAC system and do some duct work in my house around the summer of 2014. Although the company did have numerous positive qualities, it appears very clearly that they significantly cut a wooden beam, approximately 3 inches deep through what looks to be at least half the width of the beam. (To confirm, I am referring to a beam, not a joist. It holds up many joists and ultimately a large portion of the house. It is also extremely difficult to replace.) I had a structural engineer look at it, and he said repairs were needed. (He proposed an inexpensive, passable solution but said it is not as good as replacement.) As background, I had a conflict with Love's Heating and Air prior to discovering the cut beam. In summary, I discovered they did not properly electrically-ground the HVAC unit they installed. (In my opinion, this is negligible compared to a cut beam. Electrical grounding is important for safety. David Williams Electric Co. confirmed the work was not to code.) When I requested that Love's Heating and Air do something about it, John Love responded by copying and pasting a 3-of-5-star review I had posted online (which indeed included some negative comments, along with some positive ones), and refusing. I then told them they were required to fix it because this was work that was part of our contract and for which they had been paid, and angry, (after receiving no response for months, I believe) I ultimately said I would take them to court on principle. (I had paid them well over $20,000 in total along with a $1,000 tip I gave them; this does not include any of the outdoor portion of the geothermal system. I did not actually take them to court nor have I ever sued anyone. I ultimately paid David Williams Electric to fix it because I didn't have the time to deal with a lawsuit.) When I emailed Love's Heating and Air about the cut beam (which, to be fair and very unfortunately for me, I did not discover until almost 5 years after I hired them although at least one of the employees should have known about it), they similarly took no responsibility (not surprisingly). The company claimed I had "proven to be dishonest" in the past and, without asking for any information or pictures (of which I had sent none of the beam at this point) or coming to see the beam, strongly asserted that my claim was false. (I assume the claim of past dishonesty was referring to the conflict I described above although writing a review they did not like is not dishonest, nor is me expecting them to properly finish or correct the work for which they were already paid.) In the same email response, they then said "if you proceed with any additional inflammatory comments on the internet about us again, you will leave me no choice but to pursue legal action for defamation without merit". The threat of legal action is very scary. (Even if you're 100% in the right, court seems extremely stressful, costly, and susceptible to error, and John Love seems very socially smart.) However, I think transparency is critical, and this is something I would want to know about if I were a potential new customer. As mentioned, prior to the problems summarized above, Love's Heating and Air did exhibit some very positive qualities. In particular, many employees and John Love, the owner, demonstrated a very strong initial intent to make sure they did a good job and that I was pleased. I know I'm far from the easiest customer in terms of wanting things done right, so this deserves significant acknowledgment. The technical employees were also very friendly. Unfortunately, the significant issues described ended up overshadowing these for me. read more

Came out twice to try and fix our air conditioning. Tech said he couldn't find anything wrong and charged us $225 both times. I called and asked to talk to the owner but never heard anything from them. We called another company several days later who came out found a faulty valve, replaced it, and now our air-conditioning is working once again. I gave up after about ten phone calls to them regarding technical matters, cost estimates, and a request to schedule service. Each time they promised they would soon respond, and would schedule service. None of those promises were kept. Found this company through Home Adviser. They installed a home comfort humidifier after another HVAC company sold me one that was not compatible with our Carrier system. Installation took 4 hours and required 2 technicians because it was complicated. Everyone we dealt with was extremely professional and thorough. I needed my split mini a/c unit moved to a different location. My cafe is very hot with all the equipment running. Loves Hearing & Air sent out 2 techs. They relocated the unit so that it cools the kitchen more efficiently. They worked fast and cleaned up everything! They were very polite and professional. September 19, 2017 I have had my annual heating & Air conditioning contract with "Love's Heating & Air Conditioning" for the last year and the service has been exceptional. They also installed a new Trane Furnace & Ouside A/C Unit in August of 2016 in one day. The technician's ( especially "Jay") were very professional, courteous & highly trained. They answered all my questions and spent a good amount of time walking me through all of the new systems operations. I had a problem with my "Outside A/C Unit" (Error message on Thermostat) yesterday and called "Loves Heating & AC" , they sent a technician (Jay) and he was here within one hour. He quickly diagnosed the problem ( Problem caused by BGE testing Peak Rewards signal) which shut down my "Outside A/C Unit". The summary: - They have a deceitful secretary, who lied in order to charge $155 versus a $95 service fee. - A tech who apparently is in the business of selling a $350 part (capacitor) for $207 because he is hooking you up... with a part that did not come out of a box with no confirmation that it was new. Please see the details below. Details: I called Love at 3:23pm on 6/10/2015 and a lady called Laura (the secretary) answered. I asked if a technician could make it out ASAP because i didn't want to sleep in the heat that night, she said her techs were busy but would probably be available after hours, which will incur a night rate of $155 versus the regular rate of $95. So I said I will rather not pay for a night rate so I will call around. Six minutes later (3:29pm), while I was about dialing the next company, she calls back saying that her tech would be able to make it before the night rate kicks in. So I agree to work with them. Come 4pm, no call, I wait a long time and he finally calls at exactly 7:10pm saying he was outside. It takes him less than 5 minutes to figure out that the capacitor died on the outside unit. So he goes to check his car for a capacitor. I ask him to confirm that i won't be charged the night rate. He goes back and spends about 20 minutes on a call, and comes back to say that they could not reach Laura but they would charge me the night rate and tomorrow we can square everything out and a refund will be given if my story was true. He installs the capacitor, which looks like a used one, he says we normally charge $350 for the capacitor but I am giving it to you for $207 (this alone resounds bad business and projects stupidity onto the customer because you expect me to believe that you are in the business of making losses) anyways, I end up paying $155 + $207 for the whole encounter that night. I call the next morning (today), and speak to the service manager, who knew who I was right away and chose not to get Laura on the call, but goes to talk to her and comes back saying that she said that I agreed to the night rate last night rate. I remind him that she called me back, not the other way around. I ask to speak to Laura, since she is lying and I want to get her exact recollection of our conversation and he says he would not put her on the call, he starts getting confrontational, and I ask the simple question of whether i will be getting the refund, he clearly states that it won't be happening, and proceeds to want to set me straight, at this point there was nothing else to talk about. read more

I recently replaced a Waterfurnace Geothermal split air handler and compressor system in our home. I initially met with John and Corrine Love at Love's Heating. They were professional, very knowledgeable, a delight to work with, and they answered all my questions. I did not feel pressured in any way. They also helped me in regard to submission for the geothermal rebates. The date was scheduled, and the team arrived right on time--in fact 4 of them. They installed essentially everything in one day. They were clean, efficient, and pleasant. Kenny was the leader for the install, and Chris. who is the service manager, followed up regarding completing the wireless WIFI capable thermostats. They were both 10 on a scale of 5. Have a problem with heatpump not removing humidity from room. Love service tech comes out and says dipnswitches are set incorrectly (been this way since unit was installed six years ago with no problem). Resets switches and says humidity should be gone by evening. Two days later still have humidity. Love tells me to give it a week. Do so, no solution to problem. Service manager comes out and tells me my unit is too big for the area and that we have a very humid summer and that's the problem. Told him the unit has been in for six years with no problem until now. Requested a refund for the initial service call which didn't correct the problem which has been denied! read more

This is literally the worst managed company ever! The staff was in constant contact with us until we paid them... then it was the run around for months. Every time a call was made to the company, we were promptly told that someone would call us back, and then never would. After several attempts to get the company to finish the work they agreed to do, we finally were able to get our unit installed about 2 months behind schedule. Then comes all the administrative short comings... I was told the day after installation (in person, by the company owner), that all the necessary papers would be filed for our rebates on the new system... 2 months later, we call the company to find out if the papers have been filed, and of course got the "we will call you back" runabout. After calling back several times, I was finally told that my rebate paperwork could not be filed until a county inspection was done! REALLY ?!?!!? Don't remember being told that 8 weeks ago! This company is so unorganized and the people at the top are the Webster definition of incompetent. They have all the excuses in the world as to why they cannot fulfill their part of an agreement, but are of course willing to cash your check the second it comes in! There are a lot of other credible HVAC companies out there and many of them also supply geothermal systems. I would highly recommend looking into ANY of those other companies. read more

We had an outstanding experience with Love Heating & Cooling this past summer. John Love and his team professionally replaced both of our 20 year old Water Furnace geothermal heat pumps (6 Ton and 3 Ton). Our 6 ton unit R-12 compressor failed and could not be repaired or replaced so we needed to install a brand new unit. We decided to replace the other 3 Ton unit due to the last year of the 30% geothermal federal tax credit. John provided us the BEST and most detailed cost estimate out of the 4 HVAC Annapolis contractors we called. His team expertly removed our old system and installed new 2 new Series 5 Water Furnace heat pumps, 2 new electric filters, 2 UV air purifiers and a new commercial grade hot water heater. John Love is unprofessional,non responsible,unethical,untruthful, & unskilled.He lied about his companies ability .He agreed to a refund but spent the $ John Love never started the work other than his sub contractor placing wells. John Love's crew did mim work to prepare for installation of wells. Made several promises to start never did.My present HVAC system failed in the heat of the summer and it took six weeks for us to show him what needed to be done from a mechanical prospective to get the two unit working.Because he never started the work . He agreed verbally and by email to return my deposit but has not . Qualified staff that he detailed to do the work have departed. John Love has stated he does not have the money ,he has used it to finish other jobs. No reply,no money ,no work . He has agreed to meet at his bank but never shows up . Has told so many untruths so many times ,he does not remember the truth.His details what he has given for free but those are untruths also .All I want to do is get out from under this bad situation ,get my deposit and get a contractor that can perform read more
