Came here for a late brunch today with some friends. It was not super busy at 12:30, and the host was kind enough to seat me while I waited on my friends to arrive. They have an interesting cocktail menu and were willing to modify one drink for a friend who avoids dairy. We decided to share a bunch of plates. The waitress was kind enough to bring us plates when the food came out to make it easier. Our favorite item as a group was the chicken n waffles. The honey butter and syrup just went so well with the items. The next favorite was the pancake tacos. They were basically a breakfast plate in taco form. It's a bit messy but they were tasty. The biscuits and gravy weren't bad, but weren't anything show stopping. We also really enjoyed the loaded tots. They weren't anything like I was expecting. I loved everything about my recent experience at Louvino! The space is gorgeous and has an elegant industrial feel. I went with 5 friends and one has a milk allergy. Our server was so great at accommodating her needs. Overall, our server was awesome in general. She gave great recommendations and was attentive. Everyone seemed happy with their meal. Decided to try this restaurant for brunch while in downtown Indy. We were immediately met by friendly employees and seated promptly. We ordered coffee, I know boring! But we weren't feeling mimosas or anything after an evening of drinks. lol. The coffee was strong and enjoyed it. Was at Louvino for my sons company Christmas dinner. We had the whole upper space which I guess is where they host events or large groups. We had appetizers of beef sliders, crab cakes and hash browns. I could have gorged myself on the hash browns and crab cakes. The sliders were a bit dry and cooked unevenly from one to the next. I got o e that was cooked through and my son got one that was very pink in the middle. The main meal was side salad followed by steak or seafood with mashed potatoes. And for dessert there were chocolate chip beignets. Dinner was good though everyone comment on how small the portions were. I tried one piece of the dessert and left it to others at the table to finish as it wasn't for me. Definitely a place I would eat again though. read more

I was really looking forward to celebrating Mother's Day at the restaurant because of the great food and service from the past. Unfortunately this visit did not meet the expectations. After being seated with my party things started going downhill. I asked for a straw for the water. The server mentioned she had a hidden stash and then placed the straws directly into our glasses while touching the tops with her fingers. This felt quite unsanitary and disappointing. I wasn't aware that it would be a special menu but I did my best to stay positive. We were made aware that they had ran out of biscuits but did have homemade English muffins. The server mentioned they did taste different, her facial expressions actually gave the impression that it may not be good. I ordered the pancake tacos that would have been good if they were hot. One of the guest asked if the hash browns could be warmed up. The service brought a new plate of cold hash browns. It's really sad when the coffee is also barely warm. Since we were seated upstairs and from that vantage point we could see the kitchen area. It quickly became clear why our food was cold. The food was sitting on the counter and the plates were assembled from those pans rather than being freshly prepared or reheated properly. After the approximately $160 billion was paid I did bring up our concerns to a female staff member who seemed genuinely concerned. She then called the manager over, but he didn't seem genuinely concerned and said he would address the issue. But with so many problems I left wondering what exactly will be addressed and to whom. Wow, this place was great. I stopped by here tonight with my future sister-in-law, I am in town for business and she lives about 30 minutes away. We were going to go to a Thai place down the street but unfortunately it was closed, and we passed by this place and it looked good. On Tuesdays they do a $25 special, where you get pasta, a glass of wine, and a Caesar or house salad. She got that and I got the steak and potato dish and we split. We also shared the fried green tomatoes appetizer, which was fantastic. The waitress had asked if we had been to the restaurant before, and neither of us had; at the end of the night, she brought us a complimentary dessert because of that, which I've never seen before. Super nice. As for the main entrees, they were both delicious. The $25 pasta deal comes with a pesto pasta and the portion was great. The steak and potatoes were also very good, it comes with a rich mashed potato of sorts and a wine demi-glace sauce. She was on top of what we needed and had great energy. She was the best part of the experience. While we had an absolutely lovely time, I was bothered by the fact that the Veggie Scramble was extremely lackluster... in presentation, creativity, and value--it was a $12 plate of two eggs tossed with a sprinkle of cheese and a few veggies. No sides. No garnish. No effort. I also thought the Salmon Power Bowl had a lot of great elements, but it felt very unbalanced. There was a lot of quinoa and farro on the plate, which felt greasy especially when mixed in with the greens, making them feel limp and heavy rather than fresh and vibrant. The menu for brunch is small and I find that there's not a lot to choose from. The loaded tots are my favorite! They're cheesy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The Brussel Sprouts here are a personal favorite, the friend accompanying me tried a bite, said they were the best they've had and will definitely be ordering them on their next visit! Everything is over salted nothing is actually balanced from a flavor perspective. I was still able to eat all the food that I wanted because the kitchen staff was willing to accommodate. For someone who can't always eat the food on the menu it's pretty special. We had a decent size group, it was an event, and the service was phenomenal. Our food came out hot and quickly. Everyone was served at once, it was just a really great experience. Went to Louvino on Mass Ave on Saturday. A bottle of Roederer hit the spot with a girlfriend and we each had an entree with salmon added. It was a two hour meal because the kitchen was so backed up, but the weather and people watching was nice. Turns out our reservation coincided with a wedding party of about 20 people and a large dinner rush. The kitchen must have been backed up. My entree was the goat cheese gnocchi with salmon. It's not cheap. Almost every dish is vegan or vegetarian. Dishes average $15 to $28 each. They allow you to add a protein for an additional $15 a pop. Right now they have scallops or salmon. I don't know where the scallops come from, BUT, the salmon is from the Faroe Islands and it's considered some of the greatest salmon in the world. It was tasty. We both enjoyed our food. Staff was friendly and apologetic for the delay. One thing that surprised me: the lack of wine knowledge by some of the staff. I was surprised a sommelier was not on hand on a Saturday night at a restaurant that boasts about its wine selection. We also had to pour our wine ourselves - and we had a bottle. In a fine dining restaurant that isn't the case. Our meal was over $140 with wine and food. For the price paid and the menu, I expected a fine dining experience and did not experience it. Three stars due to lack of wine knowledge, delay in our meal being served, and lack to attention to detail. Regardless, great to spend time with one of my dearest friends and the people watching on a summer night on Mass Ave is worth the price of admission. read more

I met a group of friends for our book club. We were able to reserve two tables next to each other and enjoy half price wine night on Wednesday along with happy hour pricing for select appetizers. I came here for dinner on New Year's Eve, and I had an absolutely fantastic experience. The waitstaff were all friendly and made sure we were taken care of. Our waitress in particular really made our meal a great experience. From opening my wine and pouring it for me, to offering to warm my coffee up, to her cheerful demeanor, she really helped make the night special. I was so happy to see that they had a special New Year's Eve meal of a 5oz filet and a jumbo sea scallop, that I instantly knew I must order that. My instincts did not lead me wrong. The scallop practically melted in my mouth. The steak was served with a delectable crab butter. The meal was served with garlic mashed potatoes and broccolini with a béarnaise sauce. I had never tried broccolini before, but Louvino's has made me a fan. The cherry on top was that dinner included samples of their cheesecake and cookie dough filled beignets.
