    Shrimp and corn chowder

I stopped by on a weekday for a dinner. The place was not too busy. I went for one of their favorites - pecan catfish. It was a good flavorful item, with a good amount of crunchy pecans on top. Shrimp and corn chowder soup was my side. That was a good flavorful and thick soup. The restaurant's ambiance was very good. Most of the people were having a date night.

This is hands down my favorite place to go for etouffee! The service has always been exceptional and the 'cellar' atmosphere is great. I can't say we've ever had a bad meal, or experience here. While the bar area is small, it is intimate and cozy. It is also nice when they have the pianist there. And also important... The bathrooms are very clean.

cozy restaurant downstairs essentially in basement with super quick service. i was especially impressed with the steamed mussels in garlic cream sauce - we really soaked up the sauce with the bread and it was DELICIOUS. less impressed by the entrees although the shrimp & crawfish pasta was definitely the better of the two that we'd ordered. catfish was fine, i just didn't think it was that great

The Shrimp and Corn Chowder is absolutely delicious!

I was in town for a conference, and dined at Louisianne's with a group of colleague at the recommendation of a friend. What a great experience! First, the restaurant itself has a lot of character and charm. Walking down the stairs and into the dining area felt like traveling to another country. Our waiter James was also fabulous! Not only did he help with meal selection, if you couldn't decide, he also made sure our glasses were always full and that we had a great time during our meal. Now for the food. I ordered the special, which was a pasta dish with grilled shrimp crawfish tails, and andouille sausage cream sauce. With my entree, I also had the shrimp corn chowder. Yum, yum. Yum!! The pasta had a little kick but it wasn't too spicy at all. The sauce was really rich and was packed with flavor. The chowder was also delectable. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite! My only complaint is that I ate way too much. The next time you're in Madison, I highly recommend that you drop in for dinner. Bon Appétit!

From the moment you step into this place, you know there's something different about it. The atmosphere, vibe, and even the entrance to the restaurant is not ordinary. Right when you open the door, there are a set of stairs that lead down into the restaurant. It is a cozy space with touches of New Orleans style decor. This is absolutely one of those restaurants where I had to stare at the menu for about 30 minutes and could barely decide what to order. Everything just sounded so good (and looks good in others pictures on Yelp!) I picked the waiters brain for recommendations (mostly based on what was more spicy and what was less spicy). I had never had crawfish before, so I knew that was something that I wanted to try. My mom ended up ordering the nightly special which was shrimp with crawfish and blackened tomato sauce angel hair pasta. It was delightful and very flavorful. My aunt opted for the étouffée with half shrimp and half crawfish. I ordered the Seafood Au Gratin which was just delicious. You don't often see cheese with seafood on menus at restaurants, but other reviews raved about this dish so I had to try it. It certainly did not disappoint. It was nicely creamy and very cheesy while still having a nice balance with the seafood. Another thing I love about this restaurant is that it was not skimpy on the seafood at all. The prices are not cheap, but I really appreciate the fact that they give you a good amount of seafood on your dish (as they should!) We stopped in on a Friday night, so there was some live music which brought the place to life. The service was good although not the fastest. If you are in a hurry or like a very quick dinner, this may not be your place. But if you are there to enjoy your time, enjoy your food, and enjoy the company that you're in... This is a great choice.

Catfish Louisianne's on bed of spinach. Tasso and shrimp with pasta.

Ate at Louisianne's Wednesday evening to celebrate our anniversary. Delicious food, friendly, professional staff, great dining atmosphere . Our only complaint was being seated next to a table of 9 people, making it extremely noisy for a nice intimate meal. The group arrived after we had started eating our appetizers. In hindsight we should have asked to be seated somewhere else. It was so noisy that we decided to skip dessert. The food was delicious. We shared the pecan crab cakes with mushroom slaw appetizer. I ordered the catfish Louisianne and my husband had the Tasso and shrimp. The sauce was very flavorful, but he would not order the Tasso and shrimp in the future. He didn't like all the ham. My catfish with spinach was perfect. The mustard sauce was very tasty.

Tried Louisianne's for the first time based on a friend's outstanding reviews, sooo I decided to surprise my husband for a birthday dinner here as he loves Cajun style food. The restaurant entrance is on the side of a building and located in the basement. The decor was like a time warp to a very old-world New Orleans-style restaurant with old brick work with a low-light romantic ambiance. They didn't have a drink menu, but we were told they could make us anything from the bar we'd want. They also have a wine list to choose from. Their dinner menu had a great selection of seafood specialties from crawfish, mussels, crab, oysters to even escargot. If that's not your jam, they do have chicken, steak or pork dinner options. The Lemon Pesto Shrimp & Scallops was very good. The seasoning was on point and the protein in the dish was not skimpy at all as some restaurants tend to do...needless to say we definitely had some leftovers! I'd say the dishes Louisianne's serves are not very health conscious, as they are pasta based and creamy or buttery but man they sure do taste good!!! I would recommend to anyone looking to try something different, or if you're a fan of New Orleans style food :)

Having eaten food the most deliciousness of food in actual Louisiana, so it is a hard grade to get out of me when attempting but this was actually pretty good. The etoufee was pretty underwhelming compared to the real deal but good in its own way. Def worth the visit and pricing either way!!

Food was just ok. The soup was not hot when it was served. There was nothing special about the shrimp pasta I had.

I ordered at the counter, and a few minutes later the worker came by offering my dining partner and me chicken soup as a little extra gesture--hot, delicious, and very welcome. I had cilantro rice and black beans alongside my chicken, all perfectly done. The flavors here are solid and a great introduction for me to Peruvian cuisine. Why not five stars? The vibe is minimal and casual--gas station setting and all--so it's more functional than cozy or lively. Still, the food is excellent, and I'll absolutely be back for more.
