Authentic and unpretentious. You'd drive right by a million times and never guess what delights await. I was lucky enough to be introduced to this place by a friend in West Boylston a few years ago. Today I happened to be in the neighborhood and hoped that since it was only 9:30 on Sunday AM, I would have a chance at a stool at the counter. YAAY! I was happy to see that they have expanded the capacity of tables so even more folks can enjoy the experience. I ordered the homemade corned beef hash and poached eggs. While not up to the standard hash set by the Towne Diner in Waltham, it was better than canned that most places live by. The accompanying hash browns were several steps above the usual. Soft and mellow, not crispy or greasy. The guy sitting to one side of me had the Eggs Benedict and it looked mahvelous, filling the whole plate to the edges. On the other side, a delicous looking blueberry pancake was sliding into a take home carton. Service was prompt, attentive, and, well, nice to look at! For just over $8, had a meal for the day, extremely satisfying. Walked out with head held high and belly filled. But please don't spread word around. Seating is still tight and those 'in the know' deserve to have their space here without new crowds. read more

Lou Roc's always has a line out front and is popular with many people. I ate there for the first time recently and had the home made corned beef hash which was very good relative to the usual local offerings. This is one of those places which is a glutton's delight as the portions are all double-sized. And it's also one of those dirty dive places that many people love but not so much for me. I'm not sure I would go again unless someone in the group wanted to. read more

I've only been here once but the food was so good I still think about it! they had so many interesting omelette options that it was hard to pick! but whatever I got was amazing. my only complaint is when I went I was alone but I had about 5 shopping bags, a backpack, and an art portfolio so I sat at a booth so I had somewhere to put everything. before even greeting me some nasty waitress came over to YELL at me for sitting at a booth by myself. I agreed to move to a small table immediately but she still went behind the counter and bitched to the other workers about me. so all my stuff went on the floor. it got dirty and kept tripping others customers too. Mmmmm...breakfast. I love breakfast. I even have it for dinner often, better known as "Brinner". Lou Roc's is such a fantastic breakfast spot located in an old diner car. I had the Bacon-Cheddar Waffle...my mouth is watering remembering this. The menu is extensive with many options to choose from. Finally made plans to try Lou Rocs- here's the deal...the food was fantastic - with lots of it! Here's the problem- the process for managing the wait /seating with no real staff point person keeping track as they're busy multi tasking - which left the "order or who was next" a bit sketchy between people waiting in entry, outside and around counter. After 45 minutes.and no rhyme or reason we asked about "out turn"one staff telling us to take the next table and then another customer sits there- it got very uncomfortable .. the three of us just sat at the counter to avoid a melee with other people waiting longer, shorter, who knows... followed by staff maybe throwing shade (or just really busy) and a preference to seat those known. Never had trouble ordering at a counter until Lou Rocs, it was like being invisible. Eventually we were attended to and received service, the food, hows everything and the bill... paying was another issue- again who would take the cash only payment. If the food was unique to what one could get else where, I would try it again but it's not. read more

I admit, I've only been here for breakfast, but if the smells coming from the kitchen are any indication, everything else on the menu tastes just as good. Lou Roc's is home to the second-best hash I've ever tasted (that's a compliment, I've eaten a lot of hash at a lot of places all across the US). My wife and I always walk in starving, we always get hash with two eggs over easy, toast, and hash browns, and we always walk out with a take-out container wondering why we didn't split the order. Decided to get some take out this morning- between my coworker and I we ordered two sides of toast, two sides of bacon, an omelette, and two order of homefries- total came out to $19.00. Pretty pricey for a diner. Once we sat down to eat, I realized there were many hairs in my homefries. I have bright red hair- all of these hairs were black and white. Appetizing. Not worth the hype at all- just another townie spot. read more

I love this place and apparently so does everyone else because it's always packed every morning! Their servings size is the typical way too much but for the price, why not? I love the way they make their hash, I can never quite get it the same at home. This is my favorite breakfast place. I suggest the Belgian waffle with bacon and cheddar cooked into it. I'm not a fan of eggs, but those who are love their scramblers. I would like to recommend their filo dough wrapped French toast with whipped cream and strawberries. The first time I ordered it I was in love. The second time it had too many layers of dough and the inner ones weren't cooked. Note- bring cash and be prepared to wait. It can get a bit loud at times. read more

This place has good food but a little dirty to be honest. I am a vegetarian so I was grossed out when I ordered home fries and there were old burnt pieces of bacon in them (home fries do not come with bacon, to clarify.) The place is busy so assuming the don't clean the grill often. Usually a long line, especially for dinning there. Not a bad place but could definitely be cleaner. read more

The only place for Breakfast in Worcester! The people are the friendliest around! There is almost always a short line, because people can't get enough of Lou Roc's. The good news is the line goes fast, never longer than 15-20 minute wait, it seems. The portions are huge and the food is always fresh. Good diner coffee. On the weekends they have a variety of specials. CASH ONLY. There is a sign to warn you on the way in, but I always forget. This place is simply amazing! I went there on a Sunday morning (with the time change we got there 1 hour later than what I wanted) and although it was packed we didn't have to wait for long. I had their grapefruit juice and a cup of black magic (it's bottomless for $2!!!). I had the frosted flaked french toast. Let me tell you that it was love at first bite! The toasts were crunchy and soft at the same time and so dang delicious. Is it allowed that you jump over people and the bar to kiss the chef? Ill find out next time! I had the homemade hash--and I've never tried hash--but I have (good) dreams about the experience I had at Lou Roc's. Lou Roc's is my favorite breakfast place in the Worcester area, hands down. They serve good quality diner food made with QUALITY ingredients. This is huge in my book. I also really like the fact that the menu is rather large and they have more than just the usual eggs, pancakes etc. There's a large selection of omlettes and different preparations of pancakes and french toast. Plus there's always a full page of specials. My boyfriend LOVES the homemade hash. I love the homefries covered with cheddar and broccoli. I like to try to get a little veggies with my breakfast and this is simply delicious! I also love the raisin toast. The slices are thick and with lots of swirls of cinnamon. It's definitely not the kind of cinnamon toast you buy at a grocery store. In my opinion, there are only two downsides to the place and they have nothing to do with the food. One is the line can get really long. The other is they've covered up the old, classic train car exterior and replaced it with brick. The inside still has a classic feel, with stools and a counter as a seating option; however, they recently added some seating off the front and that area lacks any character. Never-the-less, despite the lines and the fact that you sometimes have to eat on "the porch" this place is still #1 in my book. Also, I've never found a hair in my food and I've eaten there at least 10 times. read more

Put on your fat pants and ignore all diet common sense: This place is IT for breakfast! The portion are GINORMOUS. The pancakes are the size of the plate and are fluffy and delicious, the cranberry walnut are a personal fav. Home fries or Hashbrowns? Both are piled high and can be served with extra bacon and cheese melted on top - DO IT! No matter what you order it will be HUGE and HOT and Diner-riffic. While in the area on business I decided to try someplace other than the 5 and Diner and went here based on yelp reviews. Odd set-up. It looks like a typical diner set-up with and addition built on the front. I sat at the counter that has unattached stools so you are not right on top of each other. Definitely a lot of regulars but I did not feel like I was an intruder. I had 3 scrambled eggs, toast, homefries and coffee. The coffee was decent. I'm not sure if the cook could not count or they use huge eggs as my scrambled eggs covered half the oval platter type plate. The home fries filled the rest. I do not like a lot of onions in my home fries and, at first glance, it looked like they were full of onions. On second inspection there were pices of thin, well done potatoes mixed in with the other potatoes. Onions were minimal. The home fries were not the best I have ever had but were very good. Service was ok and tended to cater towards the regulars as I would have liked more attention paid to my coffee. Prices were decent. I will be back. read more

Honestly when I saw all the people waiting to get in I thought we would be waiting forever! Line went down very fast and it was worth the wait. We were not rushed at all the service was great! The menu is beyond believe! One of our meals came with six pieces of bacon done to perfection. I had crepes with sausage toast eggs coffee and it was delicious. Lou Roc's "ROCKS!" Just had homemade corned beef hash w 2 dropped and home fries! Can't remember having a breakfast that good. Great hash!! Great home fries!! Huge portions!! But would have been just as pleased with the meal if it was half the amount. As long as the food is done right and taste great portion size is not important to me.
