Love this place! Los Tres Amigos in Canton is a solid choice when you're craving Mexican food. The food is always tasty and comes out hot with big portions. The fajitas are a favorite, and you really can't go wrong with the tacos or enchiladas. The margaritas are on point and definitely make the meal even better. The vibe is fun and laid-back, and the staff is friendly and attentive without being over the top. Even when it's busy, service is usually pretty quick. Margaritas are good and they have a great patio. It has the potential to do so much better. Or at least more traditional Mexican food - not Americanized - added to a section of menu. We haven't been here in a while and thought we would give them a try again. We honestly wish we wouldn't have. It took the server 12 minutes to even come to our table, just to tell us he also has a party he is taking care of so he would need another few minutes prior to being able to come back to our table. Our order was eventually taken and we received our food in a reasonable amount of time. The food was not that great. I ordered chicken fajita's and half way through eating I chewed on something hard that I couldn't bite through (possibly a tendon from not being cut properly) which turned me off completely from finishing my dinner. My husband got the Chile Colorado, which was basically steak with tomato sauce on top. The sauce for this dish should have been made with dried chiles , tomato sauce and broth (traditionally). The only good things were the guacamole, beans and tomatillo salsa. Our server asked us how the meal was and we honestly told him it wasn't that great. He told the manager who didn't even come to our table. We had placed a carry out order when we placed our dine in order and the 2 burritos we ordered were extremely small ( 15$ for a small burrito and rice and beans). Bottom line, don't waste your money here when there are so many other Mexican restaurants that have really good food (Like Las Palapas in Livonia or El Trompo in Ypsilanti). read more

Salsa was super good but that's where it ends. INSPECT YOUR FOOD!!!!! I found a piece of straw wrapper and a tortilla chip in my rice, which 100% indicates it was re used rice from another persons plate. If I wasn't with family I wouldn't have kept it professional at all. My tacos had a good portion of meat but it had absolutely no flavor and the tortillas were drenched in oil. The tortilla chips that came out with the salsa were embarrassing stale and old but we still ate em since it took 45 minutes to an hour to even be able to put in our orders. We had a large party but everything was kept simple, fajitas or tacos.. and since we all got similar stuff, they just got ridiculously stingy with the protein and just added more veggies and stretched out the protein of an actual plate to be turned into 3 plates. Each plate consisted of 20% protein and 80% bell peppers and onions.. and upon bringing one of the fajita plates which comes sizzling, the waiter BLEW on it?! We sat at the bar for dinner. It didn't seem like that happened all that often as our server seemed new or unsure what to do with us. The drinks were great, though, and so was the food. I had been wanting to try quesabirria tacos. This was my first time having tacos in this style. So good. Zero complaints. Send Help! Alright...let's talk about this very odd dining experience. I've been to a different location and thought this would be the same but it definitely was not. Arrived on a Saturday around 6:30pm and was greeted quickly. Our party of two was sat immediately and I should have realized the first red flag being that there was hardly anyone there on a Saturday and wait staff were just sitting around and on their phones... Our waitress was very nice and she did her best, I will give her that. She stated it was her first day which I'm not so sure it was but let's give her the benefit of the doubt. We tried to order two large margaritas on the rocks, one lime and one strawberry, with a top shelf tequila. She came back to our table not once, but three times trying to get this drink order! Apparently it's impossible to order the large margarita with a top shelf tequila without it being insanely complicated. First time was to let us know they didn't have the tequila we asked for which was on their menu. She stated the bartender said they didn't even know it was on the menu (next red flag). Then the second time she came back, she was asking if we wanted all four shots in the margarita and if not she could serve us two of the tequila shots on the side. Wait what?? We just want the margarita with a nice tequila? Why is this so hard? So the third time she comes back, essentially with the same questions about if we want all of the tequila and they have to make it from scratch instead of use a mix and all this stuff and were we okay with that. I realized this was not going to end well so I promptly changed my order to the strawberry fresh fruit margarita instead (again, tried this at another location so I knew I liked it). Drinks arrive......yikes. So my mom's lime margarita tasted overwhelmingly of peach schnapps. How?! That wasn't anywhere near the what the drink was? My strawberry fresh fruit margarita tasted like chemicals. If you've ever had fernet, that's what it tasted like. So awful so I gave up and sent it back and stuck with soda. For dinner we had ordered tacos and a burrito bowl. The burrito bowl was decent, however my mom ordered it with pickled red onions which the waitress seemed unsure of. When it arrived there was just a mound of chopped raw red onion. Aside from that she said it tasted good. My carne asada tacos on the other hand were quite literally tasteless. I've had these at the other location and they were good so I was disappointed but not surprised after the drink debacle. We also kept getting bowls of chips that were all broken into tiny pieces :( It was a rough experience but kudos to the waitress as she kept a great attitude despite the challenges. I was seated immediately, but never greeted until I went up to the host stand and asked why nobody had come over in the 8-10 minutes we had been sitting. The frozen margaritas were yummy and I love the variety of flavors they offer. We got the sampler as an appetizer for the table. It was okay. First time here with a friend who is a regular - eight of us in total. We were all very pleased with the service, atmosphere and especially the food! This is a nice, clean place located on Canton Center north of Ford Road. There is a small bar on the south-east side, and the main dining room is one long hall with the front door in the middle. Everything we tried was delicious. Portions are generous, and well presented. Everything is above average for a mexican restaurant. The Margaritas are amazing. We have been customers from the beginning of their opening and always enjoyed the friendly greeting from the owner/manager each time we would walk through the door. The ambience and food never disappointed. Fast forward to today's experience is a complete 180. The waitress started off efficiently, asking if we were ready to order..we did order queso as an appetizer and it was like cheese flavored water. Each dip dropped all over the table and our clothing. Once we did order our main courses we specifically requested no cheese on our granddaughters food because she is allergic to dairy. We repeated it twice. The waitress also seemingly wrote it down. The food arrived covered in cheese. My botana was cold and none of the cheese on my chips was remotely melted. It was crumbled. I asked kindly if they could just put the entire dish in the microwave and she agreed. A few minutes later she brought my granddaughter her food without cheese and my botana. I'm not sure what the point of asking her to warm it up was, because it was still ice cold. To make matters worse, she never returned to our table again. I could have told her it was still cold had she done a post check on our dinners. We were very disappointed with the lack of service and the quality of food overall was terrible. I'm not sure if they changed owners or just don't care anymore, but I would carefully consider your options in canton, as there are plenty of excellent Mexican restaurants. Don't be fooled by this nice looking restaurant. From the outside the restaurant looks really nice, beautiful outside seating and all but the food is at most a 2 out of 5. I ordered a kids chicken burrito that came with a side of rice and beans. My kid was instead served a wet burrito drenched in red enchilada sauce. I sent the dish back and reiterated to the server that I ordered a kids burrito. The server gave the worst attitude and was going back and forth with me saying that is how they serve burritos drenched in enchilada sauce. Understandable except NONE OF THAT was stated on the kids menu. I ordered flautas. The chicken was bland and the flauta was barely fried, everything was soggy by the time I was finished eating 1 flauta. Nothing special about the dish. The service is terrible, it took over 30 min for food to arrive and there was only 3 other tables who had already been served. The customer service is pretty good. You can taste the poor/cheap ingredients in the food. I ordered the enchiladas which came with a liquid cheese sauce on top. One of the most disgusting things ever put in my mouth. I barely took three bites and I didn't bother taking the food home either. It wasn't even worth giving to my dog. The best part about the restaurant was they had awesome drinks. And you can really taste the alcohol. What I go there again. For drinks maybe but never to eat again. "Authentic Mexican Restaurant" is listed on their front lawn sign. I am not sure if that really holds up, but I do know Los Tres Amigos has been around for over a decade now. They have even expanded as a local chain within the surrounding communities. There were ample spaces in the private parking lot. The inside dining room had a colorful, almost gaudy, decor. We sat on the outside patio where there were several covered tables available. When I walked in through the front entrance, there was a poster on the wall showing two new items, tacos de birria and quesabirria. I was surprised that this place even carried such offerings because this was not an area of the country that I expected to follow such a food trend. Therefore, I had to order those tacos to sample how they compared to where I now reside. While we were waiting, complimentary chips and salsa were provided. The latter was served in small plastic urns that I normally associate with hard liquor at the bar. My platter had three tacos with corn tortillas and a cup of consomme on the side. Lime slices, hot sauce, and avocado crema were included as garnishments. The stewed beef was moist but could have used more seasoning. The cup had a few chunks of beef in it as opposed to straight broth so that was a nice touch. I thought the quality and quantity of my food were a little above average so I rated the experience with 3.5 stars. read more

Zero stars this visit. Coming back to this place after few years.. totally disappointed. Extremely biased and partial staff. They choose who to serve first and give good treatment.. does not matter who comes first. We did not even get water nor silverware without asking.. We waited nearly 30 minutes after seating for someone to come take the order. After 1 hour of waiting some one comes out and says one of the vegetarian modification request cannot be made. They are just starting to cook the order?? What's the h&ck? I was about to walk out if not for the free chips that we ate.. ok fine.. finally we got the order.. everything was bad.. terrible... literally everything. Waste of 60 bucks, disappointed family. We came here because my friends are recommending this Mexican restaurant, we came a little late , around 8pm. Inside of the restaurant is very dark, so we decided to sit outside. The hostess brought us some chips and salsa. And the waitress came maybe 10 minutes later. The chips are good, but salsa is tasteless. I had the taco locos , the meats are dry , and the meal didn't come with any rice or beans. And the price was high. The quesadillas were too salty, but chalupa was good. Burrito was just so so. Over all, they have better margaritas than my favorite Mexican restaurant, but the service and food are just ok. The waitress never came back to take the empty dishes. And we hardly seen her during the meal. I think it's a overpriced restaurant with ok service! read more

Would totally swing through here for a porch margarita in the summer or a couple beers at happy hour... still on the hunt for their speciality. We were recommended to come here for daughter's birthday. Good vibe, good desert, a fuss for birthday. (My daughter would've loved it) The waiter seemed very new and still needed to shadow. This is the staple when I come visit my brother and his family. My niece had a half day and was super excited to go eat with her uncle... Mexican it was ! Solid Tex-Mex food at generous portions. I complain about greasy cheesy Americanized Mexican food, but this place at least does it well. I wish they had some authentic options like a decent chorizo and an horchata that made my tummy feel well, but this is the best I've had west of Las Cazuelas or Mi Pueblo. I'm a Mexican food snob. I've lived near Southwest Detroit, I was born and raised near the south side of Chicago, I've been to Mexico City for work, and to Cancun and Puerto Vallarta for fun dozens of times. I went into the restaurant and gave my name and they handed me my order with no words exchanged. The stamp on the order said 6:09pm. When I got home to eat my foo, literally 45 minutes later, the food was cold. And I mean cold, cold. Not just luke warm but cold like in the refrigerator. 3.5 but that's not an option. We quite like this place, it's probably the best American-Mexican food in the area. They are also open reasonably late, which is a plus for us. The interior is a bit dizzying, sooo many colors. But that's just because my soul is black. We really like Alfredo, so we always ask to sit in his area. He is super nice and attentive, and he hasn't steered me wrong yet on his recommendations! Their margaritas here are actually quite good, and for $10 for a damn near fishbowl, you cannot go wrong. I like the strawberry on the rocks, my husband likes original frozen. Either way they are almost impossible to finish, but tasty in the meantime. Bonus- they get my friend completely drunk which is very entertaining to watch. Queso fundido with tortillas, or their queso dip are both tasty and good snacky starters. He usually gets the carne asada- marinated steak with grilled jalapeño , rice, beans, and salad. This restaurant is the poster child for a generic and tacky Tex Mex experience. The decor can be considered charming to some, but extremely outdated to others (take a guess what category I fall into). The food is in no way unique or appetizing when compared to similar restaurants, and tastes like something that a bunch of high school kids made from those taco kits you get at a local grocery store. Service is also pretty bad to say the least and not very knowledgeable of the menu (although the menu is so large I cant say I blame them). As big as it as, it's crazy how there is little worth eating on it. This isn't to say the food is totally inedible by any means, but you really have to temper your expectations and get a bit drink before digging in.
