Food was mediocre, not worth the price, my carnitas burrito was room temperature when it came out, but the worst part of the whole dinner was the service. We got our chips and dip roughly 10 minutes after being seated. Our waiter was quite rude to not only us, but the surrounding tables. The most disgusting thing was the waiter adding an 8% gratuity charge to our bill automatically for a 2 person dinner. Never have I seen this at any restaurant before and especially for such subpar service. I always tip, even when the service wasn't amazing, but putting that 8% on my bill WHILE being rude the whole time is the easiest way to lose a customer. Will not return. read more

Ordered take out. "Ready in 15 mins" was the time given. Arrived in 20 mins. Was told by cashier it would be a few minutes more. After 20 mins setting I approached the cashier to enquire about my wait. I was definitely upset at the now 40 min wait, and also had to speak at a level above the noise. It was crowded and loud. He accused me of shouting, and was personally offended that I asked him why I was being ignored. He refused service, told me to go somewhere else and tried to lecture me. I requested a manager, was told that he, the young man at the cash register was the boss. I realize that I appeared agitated, but I did not shout, curse, or intentionally offend. Small town Mexican restaurant that doesn't take too many chances on their menu offerings. That does not mean that there is anything wrong with it. The menu is filled with the usual suspects that are featured on many Mexican restaurant menus, but those dishes are beloved institutions and are often can't go wrong options. Grabbed to go dinner here while staying in a local bnb for the night. The restaurant is large and had plenty of seating and seemed clean while I waited. The food was prepared quickly and the staff was friendly. The food was good, not overly amazing but good. I got the Hawaiian fajitas that came with chicken, steak, shrimp and pineapple and probably only counted three pieces of small chicken in the entire dish. The salad that came with it was a good size. Los Potros gets a solid 4 stars. This place is really great. The service is outstanding, we were greeted with friendly service and the server was fantastic. The chips and salsa with cheese was great and flavorful. The cheese was hot and creamy and the salsa was not to spicy but had a great amount of flavor. My wife got the el poyo loco it was very good the chicken was tasty and the cheese was good but she could have used more of it. The only down side was the chicken to rice ratio was way off. There was a lot of chicken and just a little rice. I had the nachos with charizo it was great the spicy sausage was outstanding. I also could have used more cheese as there was a lot of sausage and chips but just a little cheese. Overall I would highly recommend Los potros and will definitely be back. read more

If Los Potros was located in an area with more selections, I would probably rate this place a 3, but (since there aren't many restaurant choices in "downtown" Chickamauga) I'll give it a 4. I wouldn't drive out of my way to eat here, but it is convenient, quick, and inexpensive if you're looking to stay within Chickamauga. I usually stop in when I'm home visiting my parents. Over the Christmas holiday, I called in for carry out and on, New Year's Eve, about 12 of us dined in. Carry out was quick and easy. The call was answered promptly and the food was ready in 15 minutes. Pickup was easy and the order was correct. On New Years Eve, the restaurant was busy, but we were seated immediately. Our order came out a little messed up as they served the food for our table along with an adjacent table (not in our party) and there was a bit of confusion regarding which table ordered which entree. The issues were mostly corrected, though my husband settled for an entree he did not order just because he didn't feel like addressing the issue. I'm sure I'll be back the next time I visit my parents. read more

The food here is garbage. I say that with the expectations that a resident of central Texas has - it is likely that I'm quite spoiled. However, the meal that I ate (enchiladas) had about as much flavor as oatmeal. I left with heartburn that stuck around for hours, which is really rare in my case considering that I drink Tabasco by the bottle. The wait staff all but ignored us and dropped food on the table, then took off. The place was tiny and the choice of decor was questionable at best. I was part of a large train of people that were only there for an hour, so it may have been that the place was more busy than usual, but still...the level of customer service was very low. That, combined with the bad food, is the reason for the 2 stars. Definitely do not recommend. read more

The food here is about as basic and uninspired as you could possibly get with Mexican. It's convenient to Chickamauga so we kept going back, but every time we left unhappy about the food. It's just Mexican, which makes me feel like it could be a lot better with only a little more effort. read more

This is nothing more than your average Mexican restaurant, but the food is good. If you like spicy foods then ask for the hotter salsa. It was my favorite thing that they had and was probably the best salsa in the area. For the main course I got the chicken nachos. We went in on a Saturday night. When we got there we were seated quickly and we were one of maybe five other tables there. I guess that should have been my first clue that maybe this place wasn't the best. My daughter has been here before with friends and has been begging to go back. After waiting 30 minutes, someone finally took our order. The taco my wife ordered had ice cold cheese on it and was barely warm. We shared fajitas. There were some shrimp that had not been properly cleaned and deveined. We asked for no tomatoes and it had tomatoes. Overall, the food didn't taste good and the service was terrible. When I asked to speak to the manager he seemed like he could care less about my concerns and didn't even apologize. Instead he said that all the shrimp come like that from a bag, yet magically over half of them were properly cleaned. Most of the staff was rude. This was my first and last visit. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. Do yourself a favor and go someplace else! read more
