The guacamole and salsa were good, otherwise don't waste your time. We waited for forty minutes for the food had to wave the waiter down for drink refills. When food came most of the dishes where uneatable. Attempted to bring to managers attention and she just made excesses saying that that is what there food taste like. Terrible service and terrible food. This place is extremely noisy inside. The blender turns on at the bar and just squeals across the restaurant! We were seated right away and got our drinks and chips and salsa pretty quickly. We asked for glasses of water and about 30 minutes came back. She then cleared our chips and salsa when we finally got our waters - I guess no refills on chips! And then we sat and sat and sat waiting for our food. About 20 minutes later the below average Mexican food came out and she never returned back to our table to check on us except to drop the bill off. Avoid this place! read more

After spending the morning hiking the Superstition Mountains with family, we decided to stop at Los Gringos Locos for lunch. The restaurant seemed clean, neat, and had great lighting. One of the owners came and greeted us and thanked us for our patronage moments after we were seated. Our server was attentive and quickly brought out the drinks we ordered. It all started out well and then seemed to take a turn. We waited nearly 45 minutes for our food to Be served and that is not easy with a rowdy 3 year old. Our food was average and the unanimous opinion at the table was that the dishes lacked adequate seasoning. It want terrible by any means, it just wasn't extraordinary. Once our food was served, our server was slow to provide refills on beverages. We also checked in on Yelp and mentioned the check in discount to our server. She brought us a bill with no visible check in savings applied. We asked her to split the bill and apply our check in discount to each check. She returned with bills for each family party that yet again had no check in discount. We didn't even bother to press the issue again and paid the total sum and left. Was a decent lunch visit, but would probably try another place in the future. read more

It was ok maybe if my food hadn't been almost cold it would have tasted better, hot sauce was freakin' delicious, had the chicken mole, sort of bland, chicken was cooked well, also had a shredded beef taco, something smelled a little rancid but was ok and edible, husband had fajita chicken salad nothing special. To me "stars" means just how good is the food. Three stars is ok food but disappointing. My chicken chimejunga was served on a very hot plate with dull refried beans and rice. My wife had the beef chimejunga and had the same rating, ok but disappointing. She had a margarita so i am sure that helped with the rating. The dining room was about a third full when we arrived so I thought this place had to have great food and was really looking forward to some good Mexican food. I should have tried the special, a beef enchilada for $9.50 and saved a little money on a lunch special instead of a early dinner. Their menu changes at 3 pm and most all items on the menu are $14.00 with a regular drink. There melon Marquita's are on special for $4.50. Remember that Marquita's may make your food taste better. The atmosphere was a little dull with a lot of yellow and red painted walls, very little decorations on the walls. The bar area was well stocked with just about anything that you would want to drink. The location was not hard to find if you have a GPS device. If not just ask for the address at any gas station. It is on the east end of Apache Trail and Phelps Ave. south west corner. read more

During our wait we asked for napkins and utensils, she came back and told us there wasn't any clean and it will be a minute. So our food finally came out and still now utensils! They make a great tortilla soup. Owners are nice and friendly. Fantastic Prickly Pear Margarita. The family enjoyed the endless chips and salsa. My youngest loves the quesadillas and bean and cheese burritos. They even offer hamburgers for those who don't want Mexican. read more

It took forever for the waitress to come to us and asked us what we wanted to drink, approximately 10 minutes at the least. While our tea glasses ran dry, we waited and waited for our food. The waitress never came by to refill our tea but she kept making excuses to us. We were finally served, and asked for our ticket immediately, because we knew we would have to wait a long time. She took her card, and proceeded to wait on three other tables, before taking our card to the checkout. The food was good, the service is horrible. What happened to quality customer service? Can't these people be trained, to provide the best quality of service? The owner should take this into consideration. read more

Mediocre, corporately-bland Mexican food (as one would expect from a chain restaurant, even though Los Gringos apparently isn't). The perky waitress either didn't deliver my simple request to the kitchen or they ignored it: I asked for my Chimichanga extra crispy, it arrived soft and doughty. Good chips & salsa, but that should be a given. Wouldn't go back and can only assume the diners giving four or five stars to Los Gringos have never had top flight Mexican. It you think the Olive Garden is good Italian food, this might be the place you; otherwise steer clear. read more

We were trying to decide where to go near our house. We also wanted healthy options. Yes at a Mexican restaurant! Fajitas and grilled fish tacos. Both,delicious. We arrived and were seated immediately in the bar and our server Jordan was excellent. We arrived at the end of happy hour so we each got a margarita. Yumm. Salsa and chips on arrival too. There are not many restaraunts in Apache Junction that are clean, not packed wall to wall with snow birds, and serve decent food. I realise I may be missing out but I tend to avoid restaraunts in older buildings with dirt lots. There are a lot of those in AJ, That being said, Los Gringos Locos is a new building in a nice parking lot, with lots of nice clean things inside and out of it. That gets me in the door. The food is ok there. I have never had anything great there, or anything even better than average. It is normal "chain" restaraunt mexican food. It's ok. I think a lot people go there because of the building, and service. Top notch. Not because of the food which is mediocre. read more

Have been going here for 10 years. My wife really likes the Camarones Baja (sauteed shrimp). But this time full of salt. Sent it back; next batch just as bad and inedible. Server and manager apologized, but no offer of replacement or even a dessert. Was a chef mistake. Just took the item off the bill. I didn't make a ruckus in the crowded dining room, but very unhappy. And the vegetables were oily too. Maybe it is time for a change. read more

They do pretty good mexican -- not the best in Apache Junction, but definitely good. They have a patio that is really nice and well-shaded. They are off the main drag a bit, so sitting outdoors is pretty quiet and peaceful. read more

I have eaten here a couple of times and this last time the food was amazing. I had the chicken chimi and it was very good, not like any other I've had before. Sept. 2, 2010. My husband I went to eat here this evening, we had been here before and wasn't to impressed by it. It hasn't changed. Elvira's in A.J. has lot better food. It's small but very clean. When we enter the cafe the host didn't ask us if we wanted to go to the bar or not. She started to take us to the bar area and I told her we wanted in this part and wanted a table. She acted like it pissed her off. She never smile or even looked like she was happy. If she would have smiled her face would crack. The other table servicers were friendly and smiled. Recently, I took the time to visit a small restaurant in Apache Junction, Arizona. I've heard nothing but great reviews from friends who have already tried this restaurant but I was wary about whether or not a Mexican restaurant in Apache Junction actually could live up the rave that has been said about it. Just off the US 60 on Idaho and Apache Trail is where I found Los Gringos Locos. As I entered the building, I was kindly greeted by two young hostesses. The restaurant was naturally busy for a Friday night. The hostess advised me that there would be a ten to fifteen minute wait to be seated, my name was taken and my preference of where I would like to be seated. They had three different sections with all different environments to choose from; the patio, cantina, and dining room. I chose to be seated in the Cantina. This room contained the bar and multiple televisions that all showed different sports games. We were seated within five to ten minutes. Our waitress came over within the first couple minutes to take our drink order. They had a large assortment of drinks available from tequilas, to mixed drinks, to soft drinks. Our drinks arrived a few minutes after we ordered them, which was understandable based on the amount of guests in the restaurant. The menu was full of popular Mexican dishes priced exceptionally reasonable, ranging from $2.00-$15.00 on average. I ordered the 'Chicken Ranchero'. After our order was placed, we received our meal in about fifteen to twenty minutes, which was an understandable time frame based on how busy the restaurant was. My dish was served sizzling hot in a thick black skillet. A few minutes after receiving our meal our server came to check on our table, making sure all dishes were correct and everyone had everything that they needed. The Chicken Ranchero was delicious. The chicken was seasoned perfectly but not over powering the rest of the plate. The mixture of tomatoes, jalapenos, red and green bell peppers, onions, garlic, and cilantro made my mouth water with every bite! It tasted like a home cooked meal from a typical Spanish family. The Chicken Ranchero was served with Spanish rice and beans. Warmed tortillas were on the side as well. This particular dish was priced at $12.06, which was a reasonable price based on the amount of food I was given. After everyone's meals were completed we ordered dessert. The desert menu was small and had the common Mexican desserts. We ordered the fried ice cream which added a sweet touch to the spicy dinner I had just enjoyed. Our waitress delivered our bill promptly and was very positive through the entire evening, although we could tell she was stressing out because of all the tables she had to serve. The upbeat environment at Los Gringos really made our visit more enjoyable. They are open Monday through Friday with hours ranging from 8:00AM to 9:00PM and even serve breakfast on the weekends, which is rare for a Mexican restaurant. I would absolutely recommend this cantina to everyone and I will definitely be coming back! read more

LGL is a local watering hole and great birthday party place. Very nicely decorated, nice outdoor seating area (even in winter--heaters placed here and there). The food is good, tasty and substantial--especially the fajitas. Lots of good fish dishes that are not always available at other Mexican restaurants. Desserts are all wonderful and the strawberry Daiqueries are wonderful. The staff is always prompt and polite; they bring you wonderful chunky salsa and fresh, warm chips as soon as you're seated. They used to also bring hot sauce; but, now you have to ask for it (think too many people just let it go to waste)--a little of it mixed into the salsa makes that nice and spicy. Have been there dozens of times since they first opened and have never had any food delivered that wasn't sizzling hot, fresh and tasty. I eat there 2 or 3 times every month and have never been disappointed about anything. read more
