Before writing a review about our experience with los Cabos. Here is a background on our build. we had contracted a non-licensed or bonded person to redo our pool and add a spa. Well, long story short that was a huge mistake. Left our project half way done and just disappeared after we gave him a deposit. After a year of searching for a contractor that was willing to finish the project we had. We were referred to los Cabos. Let me tell you what a relief that they were able to come in and finish our project. We had to get the plaster done, break down existing concrete that was done incorrectly, tile,stone. Javier, Maribel and Juan and crew all guided us through the process of finishing with recommendations, alternatives and with patience. Besides, supply delays we don't have anything negative to say. Contact was precise and clear. Deposit schedule and work was done in a timely manner and within reason from their initial end date. I would recommend, reaching out to the pool maintenance and confirm who will be treating pool and clean up after initial fill. After about a month or so that they finished our pool, my son hit his head on the sharp edges and we reached out to los Cabos and they were able to help us by sanding down the edges which are now safe. Highly recommend los Cabos pools, even being hit with a high demand on pools they were always available, patience and was easy too schedule any follow ups or inspections that needed to happen. Javier and his team are truly the best of the best! Our backyard was tricky with different levels, multiple trees and limited space but it turned out better than we could have imagined. We get endless compliments whenever we have guests and our real estate agent is begging us to list our home because of how easily it will sell with sell with such an amazing pool! We were super picky but didn't know specifics, just that we wanted it to be unique, Javier was patient with us throughout the process and always ready and available to chat through many ideas- he also came up with several of our favorite parts of the design. Los Cabos is literally a one stop shop. During the process, we had several projects pop up (pushing bacK a retaining wall, raising up the corner to increase space, rebuild our fence and add on to an existing deck). Las Cabos accomplished all of these things efficiently and of the highest quality, saving us a ton of time not having to hire out each job separately. We chose Los Cabos Pools from three potential contractors we interviewed for our project which included a pool and pavers, reverse coping, and other various hardscapes, including a concrete stone inlayed shower pan for outdoor showering. Which has its own gas fired outdoor water heater incorporated into the pool equipment area. After building the ADU for my mom we completed the above pool and hardware installation with Los Cabos Pools. As of today, the pool and all associated equipment has worked flawlessly using an app downloaded to various phones and tablets. They were here on time and competed each task before sending the bill for each draw. When we had a concern or possible change order mid stream they came out to assess the change to see if there would be any additional cost. Such as building a block incloser for pool equipment to reduce pump noise. Which I highly recommend. The pool came out great as well as the pavers, hardscapes, plumbing for the outdoor commercial kitchen, fire pit, and outdoor shower. In our case the storm drains were also very important. This too was completed correctly allowing the entire back yard to drain to the street through subterranean 3" drain pipe and various drain collectors within the planters. Which allowed the pavers to be installed without drains in the surface of the walkway. All in all, everything is working well after a year. The pool automatically fills when evaporation occurs. The pool stays at 87 degrees year round for free due to Los Cabos installing the largest heat pump available which is powered by a Tesla Solar roof. The heat pump runs 5 hours a day in the summertime and 8 hours a day in the winter to maintain 87 degrees. And uses no gas to achieve this temperature. All the pool equipment is the quietest available and can be run from phone apps from any location. Including from the restaurant. Which means the tub is up and hot when you get home. I'm feeling a little easier about retirement after experiencing this. Taking into account our experience with Los Cabos Pools, both with the pool installation and the various hardscape, custom plumbing for the shower, and utilities for the future outdoor commercial kitchen, I would say Los Cabos would be your best bet. Seriously? TWO appointments made, reminders sent (TO ME!), my day totally arranged for their availability and BOTH TIMES NO ONE SHOWED UP OR EVEN CALLED! What the heck?!?!?! I was irritated after the first time, but then thought, "life happens, I will try again". But got nothing but the no-show repeat. They even called me at 2:00 to see if they could postpone until 4:00. Even though it put a crimp in my day I said yes because I really wanted to get a quote from them. Then we waited and waited and waited and waited. NOTHING - not even a phone call. So unprofessional. Wonderful experience with Los Cabos. It started with the initial consultation with Adrian, who despite us already having some designs and ideas, helped us with extra brainstorming and insights. The project itself was completed more or less within the initial estimates. There were a few minor delays beyond their control, and were also regarsing items that were communicated by them ahead of time, so we were not caught off guard. WOW!!! That is all I can say. I have been waiting for years to put in a pool and Los Cabos Pools really delivered. Like most of you, I was skeptical hearing about those pool companies that promise you everything, get you signed to a contract, and don't deliver for 6 months to a year, but that is NOT the case with Los Cabos. Los Cabos came in and knocked my project out within 3 months, even after adding a couple of additional retaining walls to the project. Service is top notch. Javier Maldanado was very professional and extremely knowledgeable in pool design and equipment features and details. Javier was, and still is, available at all hours and is very responsive with answers to your questions, or coming out an visiting to answer more elaborate questions. $$$ is reasonable, for a pool. I had many pool builders quote me 25 - 40% more than what Los Cabos quoted me. I also had pool builders tell me that I had to demo my entire existing deck which would have cost me over $10k just in demo charges. Los Cabos was able to precisely saw cut my deck, saving my existing deck, and perfectly blending it in with the pool and the coping. Totally disatsified. We paid $1000 in late January for what Javier promised would be a "complete" design. We waited and waited...were first told that Javier would be the intermediary between us and the hardcape designer. Finally, we were told to contact him directly. Almost no contact with Los Cabos for weeks...then they called and I explained that we were very unhappy, was told that I'd be contacted again within 3 days to discuss my concerns. Radio silence for almost 2 weeks until I reeived a message wanting to know what we were thinking...no apology for the delay, no explanation...and most of all no complete plan for the dollars I paid. The owner, we are explained, is busy, so busy that he hasn't contacted us since the initial visit. NEVER hire Los Cabos pools inc!!!!!!!! Worst company to hire and work with! Negligent, careless, not professional, left trash all over my property, fast food containers, paper and plastic bags, extremely sloppy craftsmanship. Starting in June of 2016 Los Cabos employees, instead of working they slept under my lemon trees. That's why I'm not surprised, instead of 4 months project, we are almost in 1 year mark! Employees don't speak ANY English, so you can't communicate if you have any questions. Javier Maldonado is the worst "business" owner ever!!!! No customer service skills, no solutions, no creativity, no recommendations, even though you'll need all of the qualities listed above, to accomplish a project. We had to draw blue prints ourselves, but Los Cabo's pools charges $1,000 for blue print design. Luckily, we got our money back, since we didn't use Cabo's "design". This company is falling apart, as owner complained, he doesn't have enough people to finish my project and he is always low on cash, constantly complaining about cash flow. As a home owner you don't want to hear about money problems, especially when it comes to your property. My project was medium size, with existing pool and spa, it wasn't suppose to be more than 3-4 months of construction and remodeling, and I have paid almost in full for Cabos shitty work already. We are going on 10th month as of March!!! Javier is the worst contractor to communicate, he never txt you back when you have questions. That's what instant texts are for, Javier, for instant response! Not next week, next month or year! Javier Maldonado, the owner, doesn't understand that it's illegal (according to CSLB) to ask customer to pay upfront in full or to make huge payments (8K to 15K) at the time, before projects is completed. The California law declares that construction company can only collect 10% or $1,000, whichever is less. Everything this company did, was not up to industry standards or simply falling apart. For example, retaining wall was build without good foundation, so, after the heavy rain, half of the wall settle down and become 2 inches shorter than rest of the wall. At that point Los Cabos pools decided to bail out and brought a sub to finish retaining wall and pool. According to the plans, Los Cabos was going to build a pergola and fireplace, but let us down again. Because of original construction plans, excavation and preparation made by Cabo Pools, draining was not connected, we end up with tons of rain water on newly laid pavers and basement full of rain waters damaging house foundations. My basement was flooded, which damage and made cracks in cement foundation that holds the main supportive beams. No wonder Los Cabos pools inc. don't have any reviews online, it's not gonna happen if one hires illegals and pay them below minimum wage! This company is perfect example of how not to run your business and how not to be!!!! Shame on Los Cabos Pools Inc, shame on Javier Maldonado! And please don't pretend to be religious person when you're acting like thief, liar and crook!!!! Don't want listed above problems? I am stunned at the other review for this contractor. I had a perfect experience with Los Cabos Pools and Javier Maldonado. Not only did he provide a detailed contract with payment schedule and project timeline, but they finished on time and on budget! The workers arrived when they said they would and cleaned up each day, they were respectful of our home and neighbors, and they communicated clearly about any concerns, adjustments, etc. Javier, the owner, met me at the rock yard to help me choose materials, visited the work site at least twice a week, and even asked if there was anything he could have improved upon before accepting final payment. Initially, we had preliminary plans drawn up by a company a friend had recommended with the expectation that we would use that company to renovate our backyard (oversized spa, outdoor room, BBQ bar/island, etc.). After meeting with that company on a couple different occasions and expressing our concerns that the plans they provided didn't incorporate some of our basic requests, we decided to move on. Fortunately, we found Javier and Los Cabos Pools. Javier improved the original design dramatically and made numerous suggestions we had never contemplated but ended up incorporating. 5+ years later, we are thrilled with the results. An even better testament is that we recently had the tile on our spa start to crack (Javier originally warned us against using this particular tile, but we unfortunately didn't listen), so I called Javier to see if somebody could come out to fix it. Even though he was under no obligation to do so and I fully expected to pay for the repair, he fixed the spa free-of-charge.
