After tax day lunch date with Dad. We were going to another spot but they were closed with no reason. Yes they are open on Mondays just not today. Whatever! This place was waaaay better. Our waiter Raoul was amazing. He was attentive & made sure we liked everything. He was very proud that we enjoyed the appetizer as much as we did. I ordered the Beef Stomach appetizer. HOLY GEEZ MOLY! Crazy Amazing! My dad love love loved it & so did I. It was super tender & grilled to perfection. My mouth is watering just writing this. I ordered Seafood A La Macho which consisted of delicately fried fish topped with Calamari in a crazy delicious sauce. On the side was half a hard shell crab & 3 Mussels & a mound of sticky rice. So so good! Every last morsel just sang on my tastebuds. My Dad ordered fried fish strips with a bowl of fish ceviche. He loved everything so much that he didn't realize they brought him fried Calamari instead. When he tasted the calamari it was so good he didn't care it wasn't what he ordered. I have no expectations before trying this place out but even then still feel so disappointed. The fries were so soggy despite eating it almost right away. The green sauce feels so water down and the taste is just really off. The chicken is average, hotdogs is well favored without tasting too salty, and the salad is decent which resulted in the 3 stars rating. read more

When I was first brought here I have to admit, I was a little taken back. My party and I were told to wait a few minutes to be seated and we said alright. I looked around and se there were no open tables but there was a lot of empty floor space. Before I knew it, one of the waitresses came out with a fold out table, some foldable chairs, and a table cloth. Very...strange thing to happen at a restaurant. After she finishing setting our table up we sat down and ordered. The service was good. When we received our food, it was absolutely delicious! This is why that saying "you can't judge a book by its cover" exists! Haha I honestly expected the worst when I stepped foot into this place but the food...was BOMB! This is the closest your gonna get to traditional Peruvian food outside peru. All the staples and they even have Inca cola!! LFGGGGG - try the los andes chaufa!!! The smoothies are good too! There are ways of seeing the world that I think of as being uniquely Peruvian (check out the documentary "Metal and Melancholy" if you can) that have to do with an innate sadness and indefatigable optimism, a joie de vivre mixed with the eternal struggle of quotidian life in a Latin American nation with more than its share of tragedies. I know this well from being of Peruvian descent and travels there from a young age. One of the most wonderful features of our culture is an open-hearted was that imbues so much of the day-to-day, yet Los Andes was sorely lacking in this regard, as well as several others. The first shock was the utterly mediocre ceviche, which is basically the national dish and what has put Peru on the gastronomical map in recent years (see Anthony Bourdain's televised visits for a primer). We had come as a party of four on a special occasion and driven quite a way to make it, ordering family style for everyone to partake of heaps of seafood, as Peruvians are wont to do. Yet it was if the chef and the management had phoned it in this night. The rest of the food was equally lackluster as the signature dish, and the service was subpar to match. We had brought a bottle of wine and were told that there was a $15 corkage fee. No problem. That's standard practice for restaurants, with or without a liquor license. However, this was the first time I'd ever heard of a restaurant neither opening the bottle of wine for the patron, whom is a guest after all, nor bringing any wine glasses. It's a simple matter of respect for your customer and a reflection of the warmth of limeños that was sorely lacking here, and it was borderline shocking. There is fantastic Peruvian food out there (not to mention in Peru, where on my last visit I gained 7 pounds in three weeks). Sadly, this isn't the place to get it. read more

Christina had a taste for Peruvian today so we came here . The food was outstanding as usual. We started off with the Rachi which is beef tripe they marinated and then grill it I've never tasted anything I like it before it is delicious. And the sauce they give you with it is so good that you almost want to drink it out of the cup they give it to you in. For our main meal Chris ordered the seafood Ala Macho which she said was very good I had the fried seafood special witch had fried fish fried mussels calamari and shrimp which was delicious what they give you a very large helping so you better be prepared to take home a doggy bag Gary had a beef dish who she said was good and he had to take home a doggy bag also . all an all everything was delicious I would highly recommend going there if you have a taste for Peruvian food read more

Another cheap but delicious restaurant right by Deer Park Ave. Much like the previous Perviuan place I tried out in Queens, the rotisserie chicken is a staple menu that is highly recommended. For the price its very large portions, I think a $10 half chicken combo will definitely last me 2 meals at least. For the chicken fried rice again the portion was large enough to feed 3-4 people at least and I do like how they made it that it feels more of a Pervian-Chinese fusion dish with traditional Chinese scallions. Since it was just nearby I opted to call for a take out order. Inside the restaurant they didn't have too many tables and the focus for them is definitely on the food rather than decor and that certainly cuts down on the cost. I didn't have to wait long at all for the food and the staff at the restaurant was very friendly. There is a $20 minimum card requirements however and they did ran out of pork for the fried rice that I opted for chicken instead. However the food is really delicious and enough leftovers for many meals which I'm definitely a huge fan of. Certainly will be coming back again to try out their Cerviche and other popular menu items. read more

Overall this was a great Peruvian restaurant! Good plate portions for what you are paying for. The atmosphere is very spacious. Good customer service. Great salsa music when I was there. In detail... The Lomo was very delicious! The taste made me feel like I was in Peru hahaha. As soon as I got the plate, you could just tell by the color that it was going to be good. The onions were crispy. The meat was soft. The fries were NOT soggy, which is fantastic! I ordered the Lomo "Los Andes" which includes shrimp and mushrooms. The shrimp did not have a good taste but the mushrooms did. I tried a little bit of everyone else's plates. The Parihuela was good too! In my opinion, the only con about it was too much onions and yuyo (seaweed). Besides that it had a great taste and was served in a big bowl. My mom ordered the Jalea. As soon as it came I could already tell it wasn't so great. The flavor was so bland. The seafood wasn't fried enough. The taste was good but I was expecting something better. Although the personal Jalea was big enough to fill two people, I would not order it again. The Fiesta Marina was absolutely delicious! It includes seafood rice with a small portion of ceviche. It had good portions of seafood. The ceviche was delicious. I would definitely come back and order just the ceviche. The rice was a bit soggy but it was because of the seafood and that's normal, it had a good taste. For dessert we had Picarones. The plate comes with 4 Picarones and a small bowl of honey. The Picarones were very fried and crispy. Amazing taste! The Leche Asada was very good as well. They gave me a big slice with a cherry on top. I have to say both desserts were good!! I would recommend this restaurant again. I'm never in LI and or have I ever ate at a Peruvian restaurant in LI. Stopped in here around 6:30 to grab some grub before seeing a movie, and wanted to check out some Peruvian cuisine. Only 2 other tables had diners, and my food was out about 10 minutes after ordering. A miscommunication ended up with the wrong dish coming out (also took a photo), but it wasn't a problem and my Tacu Tacu hit the table shortly after. It's clean inside, with a bunch of 4 tops and 2 bigger tables. No smaller tables in here, and it's kind of sparse inside - I'd bring my family for a meal, but not a date. I had to ask for water (which always kind of bugs me) and the waitress didn't check back with me about how the replaced meal was. But otherwise, the service was polite and eager to help so maybe it was just my individual experience.. The steak strips in my Tacu were cooked perfectly, and the salty dark sauce soaked up into the tostones (also thin and crispy - just the way I like em). Maybe more vegetables than the roasted red onion would put some variety into the taste, since even though it was tasty it was a bit bland. Same for the beans & rice in my Tacu. I don't know if Peruvian cuisine is, but I just feel like it could've used a little more spice. Also got the chicha morada - "purple drink" - gringos be warned, even though we associate purple with fake grape flavoring, this is made from corn and flavored with cinnamon (that's the predominant flavor) and clove. Our family's favorite local Peruvian restaurant. They have amazing chicken, and anticuchos, not to mention great family deals for everyong to feast. They also have the most unique variety of ceviche I have ever seen, in the Tres Tiempos order, not to mention they also have excellent aji verde! No pisco, but they do offer beer. Service is okay, though it seems like the wait staff is used to it being slow there and so they don't check on you too much for refills. Still the food is amazing! read more

We didn't send it back, I ate too much of the octopus which I did like, hah. I ordered the steak sandwich with sweet potato slices, so good!! Loved and ate the entire plate. My husband ordered the classic roasted chicken, with rice and beans, salad and tostones, we shared the salad. I convinced my family to try this place and truly regret it. The manager/staff are rude, inconsiderate and treat customers like pests. Everything is an inconvenience and they are unwilling to accommodate the simplest substitution even when you offer to pay the difference. I wanted yuca fries instead of french fries. The waitress wouldn't even let me finish saying the word yuca before she shook her head NO at me, that is honestly one of the tackiest things you can do in customer service. Fine lady, I'll take the regular fries. Moving along, I order the chicken sandwich without realizing it had mayo in it. I can't stomach mayo much less warmed up mayo. I admit to my mistake, I apologize for making the order and then ask if I can change it to the steak sandwich. She said yeah and comes back with the menu after speaking to some chick behind the bar and points out that the menu said mayonnaise on it. Ok, I get it lady, I made a mistake... She tells me she'll get me a steak sandwich but I have to pay for the chicken sandwich anyway. Now I'm pissed, but remain calm since my family has already started chowing down on their entrees anyway. I told her not to worry about the steak sandwich, besides, after the way she handled the yuca fries and this mayo situation I wouldn't be surprised if they spit in my food. A few minutes later, I ask for the bill and I notice she didn't charge me for the chicken sandwich. Now I'm not only starving but I'm really pissed off because she watched me sit there with that chicken sandwich soaked in mayonnaise in my face watching my family eat their dinner and didn't have the nerve to come over and just make things right. I would've tipped her the cost of the sandwich and then some for crying out loud! At least bring me the $5 yuca fries that I originally tried to order. She did absolutely nothing for me. This place lacks basic customer service skills. I'll never go back. Ever, not even for an all you can eat yuca fries day. The food is overpriced anyway. They charge you for water. Seriously, they don't offer tap, they bring bottled water. And another thing I found disturbing was that the rest of the staff was bringing out huge tables and chairs setting them up all around us. My wife and I love this place. It's not what you would call fancy, but it's authentic Peruvian food is to die for. Often we will get some ceviche, and one of the family meal combos (chicken, salad, french fries with hotdogs [trust me its good] with either Inca Cola [bubble gum] or Purple drink [Chicha morada a sweet drink with cinnamon and clove flavors]) and have food left over for a week. I believe they also have a location in Patchogue, but we haven't been there yet. read more

I love this place. While I went to Los Andes the first time with my ex-girlfriend, it has since become a Mother's Day tradition for the last 4 years. The chica morada (purple corn drink) is one of the most amazing beverages I've ever had, especially for a cinnamon lover like me. The food is always served piping hot, the portions are big and everything always tasty. My mother and I look forward to Mother's Day lunch because we know Los Andes is on the menu. If I have to criticize anything, it's the turnaround time from when you order to getting your food. As a former line cook, waiting 15 minutes for my food is a little too long. Stopped in with my mom for dinner tonight. We were the only ones there, so the service was very attentive. We don't have much experience with Peruvian food--outside of ceviche, so we played it safe with dinner. I had the Bisteck La Parrilla, which was a very thin grilled steak that was not too flavorful or juicy. The steak was accompanied by white rice and white beans, which were also a bit bland, and sweet ripe maduros. The portions were large and the plantains were delicious, but the rest of my enter was blah. Mom had the Tacu Tacu con Lomo, which was very tasty. It was small strips of juicy steak with grilled red onions and a delicious mix of rice and beans that seems to have been flattened into a cake a baked so that the top layer was crisp--super yummy. I would come back for the Tacu Tacu alone. We followed dinner with flan, which was very gelatinous in texture and smothered with caramel and cherry sauce, the latter completely overpowering the flavors of vanilla and caramel that should have been the stars of the show. read more

Came here once w the family to dine in and, once to take out. The food was good, we ordered the Beef Chaufa and it has so much oil in it that, we only ate the top part. The server was not nice at all and, the food took a long time to be ready ( considering that there were just one more table occupied). Los Andes is a Peruvian restaurant, but it really seemed you were in a cafeteria. The furniture seemed it was from a fire department hall. The prices were extremely reasonable and maybe why it was so packed when we came. I ordered a platter with chicken and I was glad when asked if I wanted white or dark so I was able to eat the part of the chicken I enjoyed. Driving around on a Saturday night with the family, we were looking to try something different. Drove by this restaurant and thought Peruvian? Let's check this out. Decor is a little cheesy, but wait staff were very nice and attentive, had some tables full, def can tell alot of regulars frequent this place. Had the Chicha, the purple corn drink. Nice and sweet, very good flavor. My mother loves seafood so from the waitress suggestion she had the Pescado a lo Macho; fish filet topped with calamari and shrimps in a special sauce. Excellent flavor and great portions. I had the Pollo al Caribe; Grilled chicken with pineapple served with rice, it tasted pretty good, hit my taste buds the way I wanted it too. My sister had the Chinese rice with pork, it was dry, a little bland, nothing special. The highlight of our table was the steak with rice and sweet plaintainos. The steak was so succulent and juicy, flavored just right. We couldn't remember the last time we had steak that good. Make sure you or someone with you speaks Spanish and confirm 100% your order. Once they get your money there's no changes they don't even care that they going to lose you as a customer.
