I'm Peruvian for context. This restaurant is authentic!! It's not a fancy place. It's a place that makes you feel like you're eating from home in your living room. Service is good. They recently did renovations which I think definitely made the place look better. You also can't beat the prices here. If you're looking to try some authentic Peruvian snacks this place is fully stocked. I go here because it is convenient, quick and I'm in and out. Whether I dine in or do take out. I always order to go from this restaurant. However, I realized they constantly overcharge me and I'm beginning to think it's because I speak English and there seems to be a communication barrier. When I order a 1/4 of the chicken and fries and salad (the combo that they advertise to be $14-18), it runs me about 20-25$ including them adding extra sauces. However, I tested this theory. I let my Spanish-speaking friend order pick up over the phone and asked the lady on the other end what the price was. She says to me it'll be $15. Here I am thinking I'm gonna pay $15 when I get to the restaurant. I go in and tell the lady (in English) I ordered the chicken with the rice and beans. Excellent! A very unassuming spot along 109 that looks like a hole in the wall, but let me tell you - the food is phenomenal. We found it by accident driving down 109 and I am so happy we did! The mixed ceviche is one of the best I have had, the linguini in green sauce with beef was amazing - the steak was cooked a perfect medium rare. The grilled heart was a bit obercooked, but the seasoning on it made up for it. Amd the fried calamari with yuka fries addicting. The sangria was a bit weak, so next time I will just go with wine, but they do have a full bar. Although, no bartender, so it will be your waitress making the drink. We used to love this restaurant. Last night we ordered a 1/4 chicken with fries & salad , a chicken with rice, a soda & glass of water. The waitress was really the worst ever. She brought out the food then disappeared. My husband had to go get utensils & napkins after waiting a few minutes of us not eating our food. He received only 1 napkin & had to go back to get one more napkin, must have been a shortage of napkins. They usually put out a white & green sauce on the table. My husband had to go get that as well. Then when we paid the bill. They charged $3 for a glass of tap water, never came back to ask if you wanted more water or if we needed anything & they had an automatic 15% tip on the bill. They should have given us the 15% back, my husband had to get up & get everything. The food was good that's why they received any stars at all. The restaurant wasn't busy, so there was no excuse for such poor service. A 20% tip would have been happily given if we had a competent waitress, not a pretty face with dangerously low zipper showing off cleavage. What a shame we won't be back at a restaurant we used to love. read more

Went there for the first time just by chance, I eat Peruvian all the time so I wanted to try a different place instead of Valentino's, Los Andes and Candela. I got the lunch menu: chicken soup with chicken fried rice. Both were very good and a good portion, bigger than any of the other places. The one thing that was lacking was the service, I don't know if they're relatives but you can tell there they have no experience, they had music blasting, I had to ask for every item to come to my table and after asking twice for the check I finally got up and went to the counter to pay. Waitress was extremely nice, please very very casual. The rotisserie chicken was above average, the papa la Huancaina was not the best, I would say the potatoes were well cooked but the sauce was watery and missing one taste. The lomo saltado was good, could've had a little more beef but the taste was good. The green hot sauce was also a little watery and not the heavy consistency I'm used to but the taste was good. Overall, I would go back but I figured I'd give a fair review since it wasn't a bad place and the service was amazing. Hopefully they read the reviews to make some adjustments. read more

I'm Peruvian and it's hard finding a good spot for Peruvian food. I've tried their jalea, which was over cooked and undoubtedly cooked in dirty oil. I had their tallarín verde with bistec and while the tallarín was okay, the meat lacked flavor. The ceviche was the worst I've had. No flavor whatsoever. The only thing good was the carapulcra. They are so stingy with their aji verde that they only give you one even if you order a whole chicken. I used to order here all the time but only for the rotisserie chicken but it was hit or miss. Super expensive for a mediocre small restaurant where the food isn't even good. Do yourself a favor and go to bay shore. read more

Gave this place a second chance bc I yearn for peruvian food every once in a while. There arroz chaufa was much better this time around. However the pollo de chicharron was awful. Not crispy at all and old. The salsa de cebolla and sauces was appreciated. Sooo they earned themselves a 3rd chance with their arroz chaufa. Fingers crossed. read more

stopped at this place last eve to buy steak and onions. bistc encebollada. i told the girl that i did not want an egg on my food just white rice and an order of tostones that i been wanting for awhile. she told me it would take ten minutes. she charged me thirty dollars. no receipt! when i opened the bag i was totally disapointed! the rice was dry and hard (leftover rice) the steak was very thin and dry with small amount of red onions only a little. there was no gravy to the steak. ( left over cheap dry steak) the tostones were recooked and soggy! i was so disgusted . i lost 30.00 dollars for old disgusting food. i did not have their number so i was not able to call and complain. i would not recommend this place to any one. they shd serve fresh food not leftovers! gross!!! they have some nerve charging so much for so little and not freshly cooked. shame on them. yuck!!!! read more

First time here, and wow, amazing! I ordered take out here last week. The place is small and you would miss it if you aren't looking for it, a hidden gem, I would say. The lomo saltado was one of the best I've had in quite a while, on point with the flavors and great portion. The rotisserie chicken was very flavorful and not dry at all, such a relief. We also got salchipapa for my girls, and they were not skimpy on the hot dogs, which I usually have to ask for extra at other places. And oh my goodness, the green sauce !!! We will be eating from here again some time this week. Such an amazing find, I was so happy eating dinner that day. After driving past this place on 109, my husband and I decided to stop in because we love a good rotisserie chicken and Peruvian green sauce. We got a whole rotisserie chicken and 2 sides of green sauce for $12. Absolutely delicious! I'm so glad we saw this place and I hope they stay for a long time. My husband is originally from Queens and will sometimes drive to Corona to get the rotisserie chicken he likes. This will definitely save us some gas money! read more
