    Breakfast for three

My family and I have driven by 100's of times and never paid attention to this place. And we should have. Don't let the interior of the place mislead you, it's older looking but it's no indication of the food or service. We came in for the breakfast buffet and found out it's not a buffet. Instead it's one price and order as much as you'd like. Which is much better than a buffet because everything came out fresh. All of the food we ordered tasted great and it was a very fair price. We will definitely be back in the future.

This is our local hangout. They know us and we know them. Great atmosphere, service and the best tenderloin around. Chrissy makes the best free poured long island in town. We do not like that YELP puts up a discount that Lord Ashley's didn't approve. This is not fair to Lord Ashley's. It makes me want to stop Yelping. We've been coming here for 27 years and don't plan on stopping. Yelp needs to explain this to me.

I've been coming to this place since it was located on East Washington Street. Their food is consistently good and service is top notch. The ribs are fall off the bone and meaty, very delicious. Everything I have had there is delicious.

    $9.99 BBQ Pork Chop special

Comfort food, old school and big portion is how I'd rate this place. 3 stars for quality, 4 stars for value. The price is right, the portions are big and the menu has plenty of variety. Plus, if you use Yelp Cash back you get paid to dine here! I'll definitely be back soon. There is nothing fancy, just expect to pick up a huge tenderloin, Reuben, burger or BLT club for under $10 and take half of it home. For me, I like to try the specials because you can always come back for the every day menu. So, I opted for the $9.99 Smoked BBQ Pork Chop with choice of 2 sides. It was very thick and tender. The garlic mash and green beans I chose reminded me of Mom's home cooking. The other guests at my table really enjoyed and took home leftovers of the Reuben and BLT club. My wife is a lover of Crab Cakes but said this was not a good choice.

    Soggy, dried up nachos

Ordered a to-go meal @ 7:00 on a Thursday night. Ordered the seafood fettuccine and nachos. Asked for the pasta to have extra sauce on it and extra sour cream for the nachos. Waitress said chili for nachos would be ok the side so they wouldn't be soggy. I ask how long it would take and was told that they were a little backed up so it would be about 20-25 minutes. This was after she put the order in. We leave and run an errand. We return at 7:35. Food still not ready. I ask and am told she'd check on it. She comes back 8 minutes later and says it's almost ready. I tell her if it's not ready now then forget about it. She runs to the back and comes back 5 minutes later with the order. I check the order and the pasta is DRY and the chili is on the nachos. Frustrated, I ask her for the sauce for the pasta, thinking I can just deal with the nachos. It takes 6 minutes to "warm up the sauce". She finally brings me the sauce and hands me my check! $27.23 for pasta and nachos that took almost and HOUR! I could've made my own in half the time! No consideration that I've waited almost an hour, nothing but "sorry 'bout that". Wasn't expecting meal to be comp'd but a 15% discount for the inconvenience or SOMETHING! The nachos did not survive the ride home. Too soggy to eat and the cheese dried up making it impossible to even separate the chips. And the tablespoon of "extra" sour cream I asked for was useless! Didn't eat them. Will NOT be returning!! Food quality... mediocre! Service... POOR! My patience... GONE! Was recommended this place because I LOVE local establishments but I will NEVER eat here again! (Sidenote: this isn't my first time here, I tried their all you can eat breakfast and wasn't impressed at all and had dinner there before and the service wasn't worth anything that time either).

It has been over ten years since my original review of Fort Ben Pub, a locally owned pub and grill…read moretype establishment located in the Fort Ben area in the same strip center that includes Moo & Lou's Ice Cream and Phaya Thai. There's a wheelchair ramp in the middle of the building - I'll be honest, I don't quite trust it as I've noticed people in this parking area tend to block it without noticing it. There's also easy access from a ramp at the end of the building. Lawrence has done quite a bit to improve their curb cuts in this area, an area that has grown massively since my last review including 2-3 apartment buildings, a library branch, and an improved civic plaza. Fort Ben Pub itself is pretty accessible, though it becomes less so when it's packed (for example, my most recent visit was on a Friday karaoke night and accessibility was definitely more limited). There's two glass doors going inside the pub and, yes, they do offer a few tables on the sidewalk for outside dining. As you enter, you arrive in a large dining area with a beautiful bar to the right. The restaurant is decorated in warm woods with a few televisions of varying sizes and, on this evening, background music playing. On this visit, I was with a festival after-party that was placed off the main area in a smaller area that had two pool tables along with a variety of food/appetizers, etc. It's a cozy room that gave me a chance to check out the rest of the building. I did see the restrooms, which I would definitely not consider accessible - plan accordingly. I could possibly get in the door of the men's restroom, but it was quite tight and I have a smaller chair. This is a beloved place for a friend of mine who lives nearby and within walking distance. They treat her well. She was there during this visit, and I honestly just smiled at their clear affection for her (it's mutual). I love places that become community, and knowing this makes me want to return. That said, my accessibility concerns do somewhat limit my options. Fort Ben Pub does offer space for private events/groups and does catering. They have pool tables, Putt Putt live, Mega Touch, and Golden Tee and most of the sports network channels. While I'd tried both their tenderloin and burger in the past, I had a variety of items this time around due to the after-party, though not everything it seems was on the menu (or I'm just not recognizing it). As I noted previously and my friend also proves, the employees are super friendly and helpful. There are definitely times when it gets busy, though it's also pretty easy to come here during slower times. This particular visit was the first time I'd experienced accessibility issues. There's an awful lot to love here. I have to say that while I wasn't in the room with karaoke, the people were having a blast with such sincere enthusiasm that I was almost in awe. I've done karaoke one time in my life, and I don't think there's enough alcohol in the world to fuel another attempt. I also know from being close to the folks at Moo & Lou that these businesses watch out for each other - which I really like as it's a nice little safety factor. In the end, my star rating isn't changing but my appreciation for Fort Ben Pub has grown. This visit made me want to return in the near future, and it made me grateful for those places where you can get so comfortable that it feels like the people become part of your village. That's Fort Ben Pub.

Don't visit thinking you're going to find a meal, because they don't have a lot of food beyond locally made hand pies and empanadas, a grazing board, and something called Snug Nuts. (Which brings to mind certain ... images.) I didn't get any food, just a Road & Coke, which is a whiskey with a Coke and lime, similar to a Cuba libre, although a Cuba uses rum. It was delicious, but a little light on the booze. It was only $5 and change, though, so it's kind of like what do you expect, really. It was a nice drink to sip slowly while I sat in the small, cozy bar. Speaking of bar aesthetics: Snug lives up to its name. It's tiny and dark but inviting. It feels like stepping into a hug. A hug that can also provide you with copious amounts of Irish whiskey, which sounds like the best kind of hug, to me.

The salad was generous with plenty of fresh cucumbers and cold tomatoes, though it was made with iceberg lettuce, which really isn't my preference, so I left most of it behind. However, the chicken stir-fry completely made up for it. It was incredibly well-balanced, loaded with great broccoli, and definitely a dish I would order again.
