I cannot say enough good things about Lopez Tree Service. A winning father and son team. They have the right equipment and crew. Professionals. Arturo is excellent at knowing "the smart way" to do the job and is safety oriented - protecting his crew and your property. He also promptly returned all calls and took extra time to answer all questions. I also need to add that one of the other local tree services that was scaling back his operation strongly recommended Lopez Tree Service. read more

Highly Recommend Lopez Tree Service. Excellent workmanship & Cleanup. Reasonable pricing above all. read more

My Sycamore has never looked better! The staff is awesome, work is super neat and clean. They trimmed my giant bird of paradise palms and pear tree looks trim and natural. Arturo knows exactly what's needed. Their clean up is amazing. read more

We just had a great experience with Lopez Tree Service this week. We lost a major branch off a 100 year old large pine and were worried the tree was doomed. An arborist helped us figure out how to save the tree and then we hired Arturo. He and his crew took off a bunch of weight off the tree, pulled back the branches about 10 feet, and cleaned up the tree in general. The tree looks awesome (north of Chester and Bell) and Arturo was a Pro. He left me the firewood like I asked and cleaned up the grounds before he left. I would highly recommend. read more

Arturo came highly recommended by a close friend who has been using him for years. I knew he was the right man for us when we met. Honest, knowledgeable, and professional. He and his crew arrived early to remove a very large Mulberry tree in our backyard. I was very impressed by their work and customer service. He surpassed all my expectations. He is fully licensed and carries $2,000,000 liability insurance. Highly recommend. read more

The workers arrived at my house on time this morning. Very friendly professional men. They immediately went to work. The workers removed 2 large palm trees, trimmed 4 pine trees, a pepper tree, cut down a tree root in the ground and removed several large plants. The work was completed within 3 hours. The clean up was excellent! One would be shocked to know how much deprie there was on the premises. Mr. Lopez and his crew were great to work with. I highly recommend this company. Thank you Lopez Tree Service Experts for a job well done! read more

Horrible costumer service. Arturo came out to give me a bid, but never followed through with dates as to when they can do the job. I called several times only to get excuses. Not professional at all. read more

Needed 7 trees close to my home thinned out and topped off. Called to have Arturo come out and look at the trees. They had worked on these trees 2 years ago but things got so fast in Southern California. Arturo showed up on time. I told him I was looking to cut the trees back from the house but keep privacy in tact. He explained what they would do and gave me an estimate by email the next day. After giving the go-ahead it did take 3-4 weeks to get an appointment. They are busy. The guys showed up at 7:30AM and worked until 4:40PM. It is amazing how much they cut and took away. They know trees and where and where not to cut them. Very happy with the way the trees came out. No need to ever use any one else. read more

This is the my second year using Lopez Tree Service, and I will continue to use them! They are great at responding to any missed phone calls. Arturo, the owner, came out to our house to give us a written proposal of the job. I appreciated that he said to look at the proposal and get back to him. There was absolutely no pressure at all. I actually booked the job then and there. I had let the my trees get out of hand, to the point where I had branches hanging on the ground. He made sure to get me an appointment within a few days, thank goodness! He and his crew are prompt and friendly. And, they clean up after the trimming...I'd never know they were there, if it wasn't for the fact that my trees looked more beautiful than ever! I would highly recommend Lopez Tree Service! read more

Arturo Lopez and his stellar crew always do an amazing job trimming my trees. I have hired Arturo on several occasions to trim and shape large trees and remove shrubbery and dead trees from around my house foundation. Each time, he has responded quickly to my phone message, found an appointment time convenient for me, completed the work quickly and left the job site immaculate. His crew are capable, careful, courteous and eager to please. I find Arturo's prices more than fair. Arturo and his crew understand trees, how to trim and shape the crowns, open up airspace in dense foliage, and will give you tree care tips if you ask. As long as I live in Altadena, I have no desire to try anyone else; Lopez Tree Service is the BEST! read more

Arturo the owner was fantastic !!!!! We received a quote from him over a year ago as well as several other quotes. When it came down to making the choice we went with Lopez Tree Service, and boy was that the best decision we could have made !!!! We had 5 Pine Trees over 80 feet tall situated next to power lines and close to a neighbors house and wall. They came on time, prepared and executed the removal in a meticulous and well orchestrated manner. The crane came the lifted it over the wall piece by piece cleaned and removed in 6 hours down to the stump. His men knew there individual jobs and did it well. He did not pick up day labors, these were his own crew that he has worked with for the past 10 years. We did indeed get smaller bids but for the small increase in the bid with Arturo with absolutely no issues. We were amazed by their professionalism and smiled the entire time. read more

Quick responses and they were able to fit me in the same day for tree trimming. Excellent service and wonderful response time!

We have been using Lopez tree service for many years. We have a huge Jacaranda and a huge Pine tree. Pruning these trees once every few years can be expensive. Arturo has always charged a reasonable price and has always done a good and efficient job. He has a great crew. Everyone is always very professional. read more

Class act. I researched a few tree services throughout the SGV and greater Los Angeles, and Lopez Tree Service was the only company with the trifecta: licensed and bonded; $2M in liability insurance; and with workman's comp insurance. But the crowning jewel is that Arturo (second generation tree guru) is a Certified Arborist with the ISA. Remembering that a neighbor had recommended Lopez, I didn't hesitate to call. I had a tree emergency after yet another windstorm and he came out right away to give me a quote. He also gave me quotes for trimming and thinning some 30 additional mature and adolescent trees. His price was very fair considering the scope of work and level of danger. Arturo knows trees. Period. He kept the health and welfare of my trees in mind, as well as my personal safety and the safety of my property and my adjacent neighbors. The crew arrived on time, and immediately got to work. (And FYI, construction hours are 7am to 7pm, so a 7:30 am start time I find to be very reasonable.) After the job was complete, I texted to thank him. He immediate called me back to assure me that if anything was to my dissatisfaction, or if anything was not cleaned up properly, he would have his crew return to rectify the problem. That level of professionalism is hard to find. And for the record, I had zero complaints. I highly recommend Lopez Tree Service! read more

Arturo and his crew were phenomenal. They worked all day and trimmed our oaks beautifully. They are top notch with what they do. Punctual, hard working and clean. They left our place spotless. Highly highly recommend. read more

I had a very good experience with Lopez Tree Service this past weekend. Arturo was very responsive to my request for an estimate, and scheduled the appointment in a timely manner. His crew was very efficient, friendly and professional - and did an excellent job of trimming the tree branches that were resting on the roof of my house. And I thought their estimate was very reasonable. I would definitely use them again! read more

We had two overgrown silver eucalyptus trees to take down. Arturo's crew worked hard and efficiently and were real pro's at the removal process. It was a big job and it took all day, but they got it done whereas the next bidder had said it would take two days. They had all of the right equipment and know-how to use it. Many years of experience represented amongst their crew. The only reason I took one star away is that communication regarding paperwork and scheduling etc. was a little slow, because they don't seem to have an office person, but that is typical of small businesses like this where everyone is out on site. They will be my first call the next time I need this type of service. read more

We wanted to have two large pines removed (partly thanks to So Cal Edison's recent hack job) and we got 3 quotes from bonded/licensed/well-reviewed tree companies. Lopez Tree quoted us just shy of the highest bid, but we chose them over the third significantly lower bid because Arturo Jr., (a certified arborist), struck me as professional, knowledgeable, and accommodating when he came to quote the job. Also, Jr. recommended that we wait on trimming a third tree because doing so now could compromise the tree's health. (Any time someone turns down additional paid work with a reason that benefits us, I take note.) We were able to schedule a couple of weeks out as I had requested. Arturo Jr.'s dad, Arturo Sr., came with a crew to do the work. We found Sr.'s communication "rough around the edges" compared to his son's. For the most part, I took his brusque nature as mostly just being direct as we worked through a few issues (blocking my neighbor's driveway longer than anticipated, a neighbor's noise complaint, cutting the stumps to the ground), however, when we mentioned we wanted some of the wood chips for our yard, he firmly insisted we had to take it all. Now, I had specifically told all 3 bidders when we met for quotes that I *only* wanted enough for my backyard. Having previously had wood chips delivered in our driveway, I knew the back breaking and time consuming work it would take my husband and me to move them to where we needed them. In my experience, tree cutters take all of the debris with them so it did not even cross my mind that keeping only what we wanted would be an issue. Nevertheless, when I sent back the signed quote, I specifically noted "woodchips for yard" next to Jr.'s note "keep mulch from trees" and had not given it a second thought. That day, however, to avoid further conflict, my husband told Sr. we would keep the chips from our trees. (He could see that Sr. and I were about to have an argument over this.) When the work was done, the crew dumped an enormous load of mulch in our driveway. They then carefully cleaned up the entire area where the work was done and left before I came home. I was upset the second I saw how much mulch there was, but my husband talked me off the ledge that first day. As we started to move the load over the following days, however, we realized that a significant portion of it was not from our trees but leftovers from another job that had already been in the truck (totally different trees and it was clearly much older). On that Friday, I sent several texts with pictures and asked Jr. to call me. Having not received any response by Sunday, I stopped payment on my check and texted Jr. I would happily hand him a new check when he removed the foreign mulch from our driveway. When we finally spoke on Monday, the conversation was heated. Jr. had been out of town and said he was not simply ignoring me as I had feared. (An out-of-office reply would have gone a long way in this instance.) Looking at it with a generous heart, I know that our tense conversation was mostly due to Jr. defending his dad and his company without the benefit of having been on the job that day and having not yet seen the massive amount of not-our-mulch that was left blocking our driveway. In the end, he sent a crew to pickup the mulch on Tuesday (which I know was no small feat, as there were several guys working for a couple of hours) and sent a message apologizing for the mistake and misunderstanding. To me, no matter the mess up, a sincere apology and working to fix the issue goes a long way. This could have ended up being a terrible experience, but the excellent and clean tree work plus Arturo Jr.'s integrity in quickly fixing the problem once he was back salvaged the experience. read more

Overall it was excellent. One tree service never called me back another called today after two weeks. I called Arturo only a few days ago and he called me back and had an estimate the next day. He said he could come within two weeks but he had a cancellation and came today which was excellent! The tree was close to my house. His crew is great and very careful. I thought it all went very fast, 2.5 hours and they cleaned up everything. It could not have gone any better. The price was very reasonable as well. I enjoy hiring people that are passionate about what they do and do the work like they were doing it for a family member. I got that feeling from Arturo. My neighbor came out and was impressed as well and said he was gong to call him for tree service he needs. Will definitely recommend him to my friends. read more

I contacted Lopez Tree Service through Yelp and Arturo replied almost instantly with a quote. What I thought was a large job was apparently no big deal to them :) surprisingly they were able to come out the very next day and take care of several trees and bushes in our yard early in the morning! They showed up earlier than they said they would and were done faster than planned. Arturo and his guys are friendly, efficient, prompt, and they do an excellent job for a fair price. If we need any other sevices we will definitely give them a call -- but probably 3-4 weeks ahead of time, since that's how far out they book up :) read more

Arborists notified me that my Maple tree was dying. I have had Lopez Tree Service trim the tree in the past so I had them give me a bid along with 2 others. They had the lowest bid and had been prompt in the past so I decided to go with them to remove the tree. It was a bad experience. I take pride in my marathon lawn and they damaged about 1/3 of it. Instead of lowering the large pieces of cut wood by rope, they just let them fall hard to the ground from way up, creating large potholes in my lawn. In addition, they ran over a sprinkler line with their stump grinder and broke a sprinkler head all which had to be replaced. So if you take into consideration the time and money to fix the lawn, the water line and the sprinkler head, it wasn't a good deal at all. If you do use them for tree removal, make sure you read above so you can head off what I went through. read more

Impressive! Arturo and his efficient, professional staff were in and out in 3 hours on a major job for us. Removed 3 California Palms; 1 other tree; grounded tree stumps; trimmed hedges. Beautiful job. The cleared away all debris. Very conscientious. I took 5 bids. His wasn't lowest, but was competitive. However, I was very impressed with Arturo the day I met with him (and impressed with others who provided bids as well)...and figured, correctly it turned out, that he and his crew would do the job I was hoping for. As I told him...I will recommend him! read more

Man, I was so sad when I found out I had to remove my backyard trees in order to rebuild our garage. I wanted the job done right since the trees were pretty tall and power lines were in the mix. For estimates, I contacted a few tree pruning/removal companies including Lopez Tree Service, which I have used in the past. Arturo Lopez arrived promptly at 7:30am as promised and gave me a thorough estimate. He explained everything that needed to be done and made a point to make sure all my questions were answered before he left that day. After all the estimates came in, I found that Lopez Tree Service was the most competitive and most thorough. Therefore, I decided to once again go with Arturo Lopez. On the day of the tree removal, Lopez Tree Service arrived early in the morning with a huge tree stump grinder connected to a towing truck, a big compost truck, a wood chipper, and a crew of 5 workers. They got to work right away without any procrastination. At first I didn't see Arturo, but then I realized that he was among the crew with a chain saw working hard to get the job done! Arturo is a team leader/boss that won't tell his crew to do something he wouldn't do himself, and he isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. I totally respect that. I then had to leave the house at 8 in the morning to take my kid to school and go to work. Arturo said he expected the job to be done after about noon and would call me when he was an hour away from being done. To my surprise, Arturo and his crew had everything done by 10:30am. I rushed back to find that all the trees were cleared and the stumps were ground down as promised. In addition, they cleared all the bushes as requested. Finally, Arturo pruned our pittosporum leaving the canopy intact and looking great! Everything was cleaned up perfectly before he left. All I can say is that he did an EXCELLENT job without hassle or delay. I would definitely use Lopez Tree Service again without hesitation. read more

I can't compliment Arturo and his team at Lopez Tree Service enough. They are a family owned business, and father and son still work together. The experience between them is massive and Arturo knows his stuff when it comes to trees. He shows up when he says, finishes when he says and cleans up 100%. True professionals from start to finish. You may find people willing to bid the job for less, but the quality will not nearly be the same. Top notch all around. read more

Any tree trimming needs you may have on your property? Save some time, $ and have confidence in your licensed arborist! Arturo Lopez Jr. and Sr. have the man power, the knowledge the shredders / chippers any residential property may need. We called Art to remove 2 overgrown cypress tress( 30ft ) + had the company take down the remaining 4 trees to normal. After 15 years of neglecting these trees, Art and crew came out as promised, removed 2 of the 6 Overgrown trees, and trimmed down the remaining ones adjacent to a Pool no less. Ask with confidence that this company and men are fully capable of handling and residential commercial needs. 6 ) 30 ft Overgrown cypress tress were handled - in less than 2 hours. They bring plenty on man power and they work hard. Chipper on site as well.. Bottom line the rating for these guys should be nothing but 5 stars. Very competitive with pricing, and they do what they say! What else can we ask for, and @ a decent price! 5 Stars AJ - Pasadena read more

They probably do great work, but only if you can get them to actually come out and do it! I never got to see the results of their work as they would never schedule my job, so this is more of a review of their professionalism and customer service. After reading all the great reviews of Lopez Tree Service, I called Arturo out for an estimate for some tree trimming and removals. It took about a week for him to schedule the estimate, but when he came out he was very informative and knowledgable about the proper way to cut trees. I appreciated that he was an arborist and I could tell that my trees would be trimmed in a healthy manner if I hired him, vs some of the other companies that talk about "tree topping" and using spikes to climb the trees. An added bonus was that his quote came in lower than the others. I hired him and gave him a wide range of dates to schedule the work. He said he would get back to me as the time got closer. Well, the dates I gave him came and passed and I never heard from him. So I called him and he said he was behind because of the heat, but gave me no idea of when he'd be by. So I waited a bit longer, then contacted him again a few weeks later and got the same excuse about the heat. By this point it's been two months since I've hired him and I have still not received any estimate of when the work will be done, so I'm going to have to move on to a more reliable company. If he doesn't want my business, just tell me. It shouldn't take 2 months to schedule a job. I'm really disappointed as I appreciated all his knowledge and arborist background, but all of that is useless to me if I can't get him to do the work. read more

Had a wonderful experience with this company! Owner called me 15 minutes after I left a message and gave me a quote on that same day. Very fair price. I needed few trees trimmed and some clean up. He was very clear explaining what they would cut and is knowledgeable on various species of trees (where not to cut so the tree would stay balanced and be unharmed structurally). The crew quick and skilled. Will definitely use them for future tree needs. read more

Our neighbor hired them to chop up up some trees and starting at the break of dawn all we heard were incredibly loud machines. Our infant son had pneumonia and I needed to get him down for a nap which was impossible over the noise. I went outside and asked them if they could take a 10-15 minute break just so I could get him to sleep. The owner was exceptionally rude and and told me that I could pay his 10 workers if I wanted them to stop. I would never want to hire anyone who had no consideration for others or is that impolite as I imagine he would be very difficult to work with. read more

Lopez tree service deserves 5 stars from me! We had a huge pine tree removed (an 8 hour job) plus other bushes trimmed. His crew were very professional. They cleaned up the yard and left it spotless. As we removed yards of dirt to level the area, we found roots buried deep and an additional tree stump from some other removal (before our time). Arturo came back once for the stump then we found the root another day. The second time we were in the finishing stages of laying new sod and he sent his guys over to grind out the last of the uncovered roots within an hour of my calling Arturo. He bent over backwards to finish the job correctly. I will be using Arturo and Lopez tree service for all my tree needs! Great job, responsible employees and attentive owner. read more

Arturo was such a professional, a pleasure to work with and really knows his trees! We just purchased a home in Pasadena and had several trees and a large wall of ficus trees that were in desperate need of trimming and cutting. Arturo was very easy to work with to schedule an appointment to come out and give us an estimate. He provided a very competitive quote with different options to work within our budget. In fact, once he was done giving us an estimate our neighbour came over and asked him for an estimate for tree work in her yard. Once we decided to go with Arturo he stayed in constant contact with us for scheduling the service as our neighbour decided to use Arturo as well so he wanted to do both yards at the same time. On the day of service, Arturo and his crew arrived exactly when he said he would be there. He brought a crew of 6, all were very professional and knew exactly what to do. They communicated throughout the process to make sure they were doing the trimming as we wanted. I was very impressed as they were very safety conscious, wearing helmets and safety ropes. The other wonderful part of their service is the way they clean up the tree trimmings and yard. Our yard looks better after they left than before they got there!!! Thank you Arturo and crew!! Absolutely the best experience and we will be using them the next time we need the trees trimmed up!! read more
