Stopped in Loops one Sunday after catching a matinee over at the AMC. I had noted that they had a food truck at the Whitehall Food Truck Festival the day before and, unfortunately, I hadn't been able to run by even though the menu looked quite good. So, when my Yelp app pulled up Loops as being in the neighborhood, I made a beeline straight over. After careful study of many reviews on different sites, it seemed to me that the most raved about menu selections were the gourmet dogs, the fries, the gyro rolls, and the FetaFire grilled pita. First I ordered the Chicago Fire Dog along with the Loops Dog and a side of fries. The Fire Dog was pretty interesting. A made in-house gourmet "fire" slaw piled high over a grilled dog and some sport peppers. A mouthful and not bad at all. The Loops Dog was your basic Chicago hot dog, celery salt, pickle, tomato, etc. It was good too. And, finally, the fries were intriguing. I don't know what they season the french fries with after they deep fry them, but it added just a touch of something extra and made them so much better. Very unique and worth returning for. When I was finished, I ordered the FetaFire and gyro rolls to go and took them home. Several hours later, I had second dinner and, though cooled to room temperature, the pita sandwich was really very very good. Oh my gosh, I loved it. The gyro rolls, on the other hand wasn't great cooled, so I reheated them on warm roll setting in the microwave and (voila!) suddenly those weren't bad either. After a day of eating nothing but Loops, I confidently rate the items in this order: 1. The FetaFire Grilled Pita roll 2. The fries 3. The Gryo Rolls 4. The Loops Dog 5. The Chicago Fire Dog I would give five stars, but Loops wasn't perfect. The condiments station was understocked and the lady behind the counter wasn't all that friendly. She's was kind of intimidating actually, lol. But, all in all, I definitely plan to return. FetaFire and fries, please. Good food. read more

I've been told the Gyro Rolls are good but haven't tried them yet. I've been here twice on my lunch hour. The first time I was the only person there and there were two of the employees taking a break while another worked the register and prepared the food. The second visit was during a busier time. There were at least 10 other customers and most of them already had their orders. One person was preparing the food and another was taking orders and helping prepare food. I saw one guy wander out from the back and kind of look around before going back into hiding. Yes, the fries are delicious. They are greasy so don't fool yourself into thinking the parmesan cheese and herbs make this healthy for you. They seem to make a fresh batch with each order. The first time I went they were warm because I got some fries that were sitting around along with the fresh ones. I've only tried the classic gyro which has a thick, garlicky tzatziki sauce. It doesn't drip all over the place making the pita bread soggy and fall apart. read more

This was my first time here. I loved how the menu was so simple and everything was reasonably priced. For 6 dollars, I got a classic gyro, and it was more than enough to fill me up. Though this place had a fast food feel, the quality of the food certainly was not. Many greek restaurants tend to make the gyro meats too salty, but the thinly shaved meats served here was flavorful, not salty at all. I also got the fresh hummus with warm pita. For 3.95, I ate that hummus as appetizer for the next couple of meals. Pretty good hummus, though maybe it would've tasted even better if it had a hint of lemon. Overall, yum! YES! THE FRIES ARE AWESOME! The place is super clean. It takes awhile for the food to be ready (10-15 minutes). If there are too many people in the lobby you'd have to really listen for your Ticket # for your order. The seating area seats about 50 maximum. The Spicy Gyro Roll is favored better than the Buffalo Gyro Roll for me! Love the Hotziki sauce that comes with the Spicy roll. Boyfriend got the Kronos. It was loaded with chicken and gyro meat. I suppose you need to request lettuce, tomatoes and 'ziki sauce to balance the meal. But he loved it as it was. I took a bite and thought it was good, too! But again....The FRIES are DELICIOUS! Super crunchy with what seems like they sprinkle a parmesan garlic salt on them! Will go to Hellas up the street soon! I am still pretty partial to a certain Whitehall Greek restaurant (The Mad Greek) that has a fantastic Gyro and Gyro Salad. read more

I don't know that it was better than any other Gyro I've ever had but the fries were really good to me as a person who doesn't love fries. I ordered extra tzatziki to dip the gyro and fries in. Saw this place on Food Network awhile back and happened to be in the area the other day so I dropped in. No dine in available because of Covid but carry out was easy and fast. Seriously solid, fresh food made quickly. My husband insists they have the best fries ever (which I don't contest) - the coating on the fries cooks up wonderfully, and they are even good the next day (though having any left over will be rare). Multiple vegetarian options too - and not just "after thought because we serve meaty gyros" options... but really tasty ones! Veggie wrap comes with fresh grilled veggies, and falafel is also very tasty. Hotziki is the best ziki. Fire slaw is also very, very good with a nice little kick of spice. My wife had a regular Gyro and she really liked it I had a Titan - northern style. I found the pork dry, just a bit of ordinary mustard, no onions and a couple of French Fries laid on the top. I was disappointed in my special gyro. I talked with the guy making food - he gave me a shoulder shrug. The French fries were ok - I liked them but nothing special. Came here looking forward to stopping along our journey at one of diner's drive in and dives featured restaurants. We came in with high expectations of having a great meal. We walk in at peak lunch time and the place is nothing like it was on the show and it was completely empty with just 2 workers standing there awkwardly and as though they were on suicide watch. We ordered and the lady taking our order made us repeat it 4 times and it took 5 minutes to order just a simple 2 Italian beefs and 1 meatball sub and our bill came to a Jurassic 46$ which I'm ok with but it better be good food and large portions. When our food came out I had to double check this was our order cause our subs came out on these almost hot dog looking buns and a embarrassing amount of Italian beef. We got the ajus on the side which was the only decent part of the meal as it somewhat complemented the ridiculously dry meat on our hot dog bun. The meatball sub was also a disgrace to all Italians where they couldn't even microwave the meatballs long enough to have it cooked all the way through so it was a little cold in the center. If I'm going to microwave a meatball I'm at least going to cut it in half to get it warm all the way through but nope not them. You can tell that this place was a poorly staffed place and didn't care about the food at all but yet a nice building and area. My guess is that this place was amazing when Guy Fiery came and they were doing everything the way a great restaurant should be doing stuff. Then after the show they got cocky and thought they could cut a little costs and work not as hard but still get customers because of the show. Then as time went on it just kept getting worse and worse to the long now where they don't care one bit. I can't even begin to talk about the food due to the lack of concern shown when I fell inside their restaurant. The staff there didn't miss a beat in continuing to take orders and serve other customers. My parent and the lady whose chair I fell into where the ones to show concern and help me off the floor. My mom has to ask them to fill out an incident report and since one one there knew how to we had to wait until the manager came. None of the workers asked me if I was ok or if there was anything they could do to help me. So disappointed in the lack of concern for a customer. read more

After having a bad skyline experience last week I had to stop back at Loops to remind myself what a good coney tastes like. IMO loops has the best dogs or coneys in Columbus. The dogs are great, always snappy, fresh rolls, and chilli that is meant for to be eaten on a sandwich and not spoonfed from a bowl. I think their fries are outstanding, crispy and fresh with their own special spices. I like the fireslaw for a side, it is definitely unique. When I worked in the area and was off King a lot, I used the kronos or italian beef sandwich as a change of pace. The Kronos is almost as good as the dogs, a mix of gyro meat and chicken with grilled onions. The beef reminds me of something I get at the food stands in Chicago. They also have a kids menu. This Loops location is modern, clean, and easily accesible. The employees are attentive, fast, friendly and hard working. They greet you, chit chat you, say thank you, and move onto the next with a smile. I think management does a good job training them and maintaining food quality and freshness standards and consistency in food and customer service. I would highly recommend Loops to anyone. read more

I was traveling thru town with my girlfriend when I found this place on the internet with also being featured on Diners Drivins and Dives according to their website ad. With her not being from Chicago, here was my chance to impress. While trying to get experience with Chicago food, we ordered several things from the menu to share. Hate to be one of the few to give this a one star. Being born and raised Chicago, the bar is set high. While they claim to sell a Chicago Style hotdog, they fell short. I tasted no dash of celery salt across the top. While it had pickle, it didn't drape across the top nor was the typical size sphere being larger than the dog itself. Instead of nice sliced tomatoes tucked into the bun, there was diced tomatoes on it. And I'm not really sure if the bun was even steamed. We also ordered an Italian beef sandwich. Asked for it double dipped and it barely had any juice on it at all, or beef for that matter. They didn't even have mozzarella cheese to add to it! The sandwich was cut in half and each would have been appropriate to feed two 8 year olds. For those of you who know what a Chicago Haunch is, this wouldn't be the place to do it.The third item we ordered to share was a Gyro plate. Again, the portions were very lacking. We saw the meat on the spigot and was hoping for something close to what I was used to in the city. Nice thick cuts of meat cooked with sometimes crisp to the edges. Instead, it was thinly cut to the point of almost being able to see thru it and a bit under-cooked in what they considered large portioned tubs. We asked for extra Tzatziki sauce. Instead, we got two large tubs of some kind of garlic/parmesan thick dip. Not close to a sauce at all. No cucumber(s) in it at all. No cucumber taste at all. The garlic was so strong and parmesan that it created heartburn in both of us. And we both love Garlic. Seems they strived so hard to be original, that they lost site of their claim to be Chicago Style. I found it amazing that the bill came to over 30 dollars for 2 dogs, one dried out beef sandwich and some gyro meat. We drank water to try to keep the tab down. When the food was ready, I was in the washroom and the lady, who already looked confused, brought the tray to my girlfriend who was sitting by herself at that moment. The server made the comment to my GF, "That sure is a lot of food to eat". Just what a woman wants to hear while she's sitting there getting ready to eat. We saw two food trucks in the parking lot, of course taking the first two closet spots to the door. So if you ever see one of their food trucks at a fair, just keep walking. read more

Let me start off by saying fuck the haters. Loops is a great casual and reasonably priced place to get greek food. The owner is a fantastic guy who really cares about his customers and takes time to greet each one. He was willing to stay 30 minutes after closing to shoot the shit with my friend and I, and answer our questions about his restaurant. He puts so much attention to detail in everything he does. Want ketchup? There are plenty of ketchup packets up front because he believes ketchup dispensers are unsanitary. Truth. The inside looks like a diner: lots of metal that's clearly cleaned till it sparkles. Why is food served in takeaway containers? To expedite the serving process and allow each customer to easily take food home without having to make an extra trip to the counter. The food is so fantastic. Simple and super fresh. The gyros and salads are amazingly tasty and the fries are orgasmic... crispy herb covered manna from heaven. The tzatziki sauce is super thick and garlic-y. I'd bathe in it if I could. If you want some fake ranch dressing tasting tzatziki bullshit-- this is not the tzatziki for you. This is authentic: clearly made wtih some Greek yogurt, cucumbers, and a LOT of garlic. Not to sound like a creeper, but my mouth is watering right now just thinking about Loops' delicious food. My advice? It's a gyro place. Get a gyro. All y'all complaining about sandwiches, soup, and hot dogs clearly don't know how to order at a restaurant. Fuck the haters. Loops is awesome. read more

Pretty dissapointed that this place is rated 4 stars. I have eaten here quite a bit, and didn't realize how average it is until I ate at the new-ish Greek joint at fifth and Kenny. That place is way better and less expensive. Worth trying out when you get bored of lunch places in Grandview, but let's not go overboard and give this place 4 stars. This place is delicious! I actually found it by accident while searching Yelp around lunch time for a hot dog place. It was the closest to my office and it had good reviews so I figured why not give it a try?! I got there and ended up not even getting a hot dog because after reading reviews I wanted to try a classic gyro. The staff was very friendly when I was looking over the menu and even gave suggestions. I grew up in New York and this place reminded me of a family owned Greek place that I would often go to. You can tell the cooks are authentic and not just someone off the street. The gyro itself was great, and I loved the tzatziki sauce. It was a great amount of food for the price. I also got their fries which have a garlic, herb and cheese seasoning on them. They tasted very fresh and were extremely crispy and good! I got the combo with the drink and fries and I could not finish all of the fries they gave me. Overall a great lunch experience and I will be back here soon to try a hot dog! read more

I had passed by this place several times with the intent to stop in, so finally today I did. I arrived at around 11:45, and there were already a few people inside having lunch. While I was there, several more dine-in customers arrived and several others popped in to pick up order they had already placed. It seems like a popular enough place. The parking is a little tricky -- there is a parking lot behind the building that serves the various businesses in the building, but several of the spots are reserved. Since it's a small parking lot, one might have to find a space on the street somewhere. I ordered a Polish sausage with kraut and mustard, and a side of chili cheese fries. Both were good. I won't go so far as to say that they were delicious, but they were definitely satisfying. The Polish sausage was tasty, and the kraut that comes on top was also pretty good. My only real complaint is that I wish the cheese on the chili cheese fries were melted. If I'm in the neighborhood and want something quick to eat, I'll stop in again. It's not a restaurant that I would drive across town to visit, but it's good enough that I will stop in again when in the area. I'm actually curious about their gyros, so I'll be making at least one more visit sometime soon since I'm in Grandview with some frequency. Long story short: I'd recommend it. read more

Yay, I AM a fan of Loops! It's not my favorite gyro in Columbus, of course- that's a throne I expect Apollo's will occupy long after good sense has proven me wrong thrice over- but Loops is far better than merely serviceable, and has some real gems on the menu to boot- and I've only been there twice, so there is undoubtedly a gem or two left undiscovered! First, let's get it out of the way: Loops is not perfect. Its atmosphere is a bit too far gone on the sterilization kick, all bleach white and polished chrome and... eck. Too bright, too clean, too unnatural. And am I mistaken, or are those giant televisions ALWAYS tuned to sports? Even CNN would be an improvement once in awhile! Anyways, here's what I love: the fries. Oh God- the fries! Spiced, crunchy, piping hot- damn near fast-food fry perfection. And then there's the menu item I can't get past: the gyro nachos. This is basically your standard gyro meat and gyro fixin's salad with pita chips to eat it with, but with a spicy tzatziki for that extra oomph towards the pseudo-Mexican (I guess). All in all I'm pretty excited when I have cause to be in Grandview for lunch with all the great options around- but more and more my choice has been Loops. Yum! read more

I tried the Loops Italian Beef as well as some of their french fries yesterday at the Columbus Arts Festival. The beef was meh, but the fries were TASTY. The problem with the beef was the bread. To have a true Italian Beef sandwich, dipped, you need a bread that's going to hold up a little better - just a little on the chewy side. The bread here had too tender of a crumb to hold up real well. But at least they knew to dip it. :-) The fries, on the other hand, were awesome! And you know what the nicest thing was? I accidentally spilled some right after I got it (Butterfingers, I guess.) and they happily replaced the fries without me even asking. How nice was that??? read more
