For the past three decades, this Longs was my go-to spot--the reliable place where I could get what I needed, anytime. Unfortunately, it seems like the place is cruising downhill with its inventory choices. Don't get me wrong, Longs is still my favorite pit stop for discounted coffee, mac nuts, local treats, and those coveted Hawaiian calendars that mainland friends demand at the start of every year. But beyond that? It's become a bit of a scavenger hunt. The saving grace? The customer service here is still top-tier. From the pharmacy to the photo counter to the cashiers, everyone is friendly, helpful, and on their A-game. The issue, though, isn't the people--it's the inventory. Or, more specifically, the lack of it. During this trip alone, I've been to Longs at least five times to grab things for my dad, and each visit has ended with me scratching my head. Shaving cream? Nope. Disposable plates? Nada. Lidocaine patches? Out. Dog pee pads? Forget it. Today's wild goose chase was for a specific battery for a garage clicker that I know is here. A kind employee went above and beyond--checked the shelves, scoured the backroom, and finally declared that the 15 batteries showing in their system were stolen. Yep, walked right out the door. Is this the story with the rest of the inventory too? It might explain why the shelves are perpetually bare. When I asked when they'd restock, the answer was a shrug and maybe a week because, well, the phantom batteries are "technically" still there in the system. It's baffling. Oh, and parking? Still a chaotic free-for-all, as always. So here's my breakdown: customer service? Five stars. The odds of actually finding what you need? A generous two stars. Overall? Went to longs drugs pharmacy to ask about my grandma's medications. Her regular pharmacy didn't have her medication and had it transferred to this location. The girl there, she was wearing a black hoodie and dark blue scrubs, was unhelpful. Just said they didn't have the medication. We had to go back to her regular pharmacy who then called this location and found out they never fulfilled her prescription at all! All her regular pharmacy did was look into her history and called this Long Drugs. We had to then drive back to get her medication. All of this to say this could've all been avoided if they had done it right from the beginning!! If we can we will not be returning to this location again. read more

Shopping in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawaii... In Hawaii, CVS is called Longs Drugs. It's a common household name. Many residents look forward to the weekly ad (yellow, red, black, and white) in the Sunday newspaper. The sales are wonderful - snacks, household goods, cleaning supplies, plushies, pet food, automotive items, cosmetics, etc. have reduced prices every so often. I like to look at the cute plushies and browse through the greeting cards, candy lei, live plants, and kawaii face masks! I have a loyalty card which is linked to my phone. Longs sends me useful coupons which I appreciate very much. For example, I really needed Over-the-counter medication. I was able to use a coupon for $4 off! It reduced my payment by half! Yippee! The joy of saving a few dollars helps ease my physical pain... Haha! This particular location of Longs is at the Kamehameha Shopping Center - in the corner - next to Game Stop. It's open 24 Hours a day! The covered free parking is such a bonus! I grab my purchase, then visit the nearby Starbucks, Times Supermarket, and Honu Bakery in one visit! I tell her my name and she gives me the most wisest answer "Oh thats the last name I'm going to go look for?" FIRST OF ALL YOU ASKED FOR MY NAME NOT MY LASTNAME!!!!! Rude! I tell her "oh im sorry my last name is -----" She then says "ok 4x6" I say "yes" She obviously doesn't wanna be here or be helping me. Then she grabs 2 envelopes. One dated in 2021. Mahalo Nui to Corey today; 12/17/2022 @CVS Longs Drugs on School St. He was so Nice & very Helpful in Assisting me with my Holiday Christmas Cards for '2022, that I ordered on line today!! I'm not sure if he's a Manager there, but I was so very Happy that he took my Call & checked on my Order earlier yesterday, but I was originally told that I couldn't pick up my Holiday Cards till this coming Monday; 12/19/2022, which I totally understood that part & I was willing to wait till that time to pick up my Holiday cards. I also asked him if he could do me a favor & check to see if my Holiday Photo Cards order even went through the (on-line process w/Cvs.com, since I was already having a recent problem with "Walgreen's Photo" Dept on School St, blah!, blah!, blah, etc., & one of their printers @Walgreen's on School St., was not working at all, the was So annoying to know, after putting in my Order after Midnight Friday Evening; 12/16/2022. So, Corey quickly put me on hold & told me that he would check to see if my Order went through & yes Sir, my CVs.com on line Christmas Photo Card Order sure did go through, Hip, Hip! hooray!Hooray!, that was such a relief to know!! I then thanked him & then he told me it's ready to be picked up, etc. Mind you, on my end I could see a "Screenshot" of my Christmas Holiday Cards when I sent a Copy to my Husband at work yesterday, then I noticed that it looked like my Husband & I heads were a little bit cut off at the top of my picture? Worst Longs with the worst parking. Came on a Friday night after work to pick up my prescriptions and the pharmacy line was wrapped in and out of the lanes and aisles like a constipated intestinal tract. Stood there for about 30 minutes with about 20 people in front and the line did not budge...not once...and I had to be somewhere else so I left to come back. Exiting the parking lot if Kamehameha shopping center was episode 2 season one of the bullshit with traffic trudging in and out like sludge in a septic system. Came back next week on my lunch break to try again and wouldn't ya know it....CLOSED for lunch. Why would you close during the one of the most opportune hours when most people can escape from their 8-5 hellholes. One guy said, Are they out to lunch? And some workers from behind the gate said, yeah we're having a big party back here, with so much scorn that though I'd probably say the same thing, I couldn't help but think, yo that guy better watch his back. By the time they reopened at 2, the line was already 7 people deep... so yeah, Not. Fu#%ing. Fun. read more

Came here to get the Flu shot for my FIL but even though they have a sign up that says "FREE" Flu shot, they denied my FIL. Why? Because his Medicare card that he had on hand was an old card. My FIL recently lost his wallet so we had to dig up what he had. The pharm tech was able to verify his Insurances but still denied him the Flu shot! Went to another pharmacy and they were able to give him the flu shot. read more

I've been coming to this location for years! They always come in clutch for stuff that you need, from medicine to soap and tooth paste, to snacks and stationary, to leis and birthday cards & balloons. I appreciate that they are open 24 hours, located across Times supermarket at Kamehameha Shopping Center. They do get busy especially after work (2-5 pm) but overall my experiences there are always quick and easy. Shout out the workers keeping this place running all the time. I don't think my review here really matters much to this business but here goes for a long shot. My 24x36 posters got canceled again. The first time, it was because they ran out of ink for the printer. Well, it's understandable, and they told me that they would contact me once it's ready. After waiting for a couple of days, I got a cancelation notice in my email. Then I thought maybe the printer broke down and they needed time to fix it. One week passed, I looked it up on their website and it seemed that they had fixed the printer. So, I ordered again. To my surprise, the order got canceled 2 hours after my order had been placed. This is for the Pharmacy. I went to the window and asked if they were closed for the day. I was answered with a rude "we open at 2. Come back later." Okay, then while walking around, I see the small sign. When did they do this? Why can't they stagger their lunch breaks? People have things to do and places to go. Why do you need to make your customers wait longer than they already have for their medication. I had to make the journey to this location because my pharmacy closer to me doesn't have my prescription in stock. I had to wait more than half an hour for them. Like come on, I'm glad my medication isn't needed for an emergency, but still. Take into consideration that there are people who plan their day to pick up their medication, or those that need the medication as soon as possible. Just the attitude that they have here is ridiculous. I would t want anyone with that attitude to be packing my prescriptions. DO NOT ORDER PHOTOS FROM THIS LONGS. I've been sitting on this review for a while because I started writing it immediately after leaving Longs. I was SO upset I told myself I couldn't post it right away. I needed to calm down a little. That being said, I am still very annoyed about the situation and will not be going back. Really, don't order photos from this particular Longs. I got there and no one knew anything about the photo center. It looked disorganized so it's no wonder why they couldn't find my order. The customer service was HORRIBLE. It took about 4 people to find it eventually after I was ignored and rudely spoken to when I wasn't being ignored. In a pinch, this Long's will save you with what you need, but if you can't find something, it's harder to find a worker than it is to find Osama Bin Ladin after 9-11. Seriously, I went from aisle to aisle many a time while trying to find something super ambiguous only to give up or find it myself first. Perhaps there's a cloak of invisibility? A trap door like Houdini would use? IDK where the employees stay but they're not in the aisles. Aside from the lack of workers in the aisles, there's usually a decent amount of people running the checkouts which is nice. They have a decent amount of space so there's good selection, but not as good as the "higher end" locations like moili'ili. It's in Kam shopping center so convenient if you need groceries at Times or some caffeine from Starbucks or perhaps a sugary snack or bubble drink from Honu bakery nearby. Parking is a bit crazy (smaller spaces than airplane seats for obese people) but hey, get your alcohol, prescriptions, shampoo and a lei here... Oh and bonus points for the excitement of watching the occasional crackhead post robbery shakedown by Longs security on the sidewalk outside. read more

I absolutely HATE this pharmacy. The only reason I have to come here is because only certain pharmacies carry a drug that I need for my daughter who is battling cancer. All of the staff should take customer service classes and learn how to listen. They have this one dizzy girl that takes forever to pull up my daughters profile and mind you, I ALWAYS spell her name out even though it's so easy. When I ask them certain questions like why don't you folks contact the doctors office to clarify the medication, I get the response that they're "TOO BUSY"! Make Longs a part of your day! This store has been around FOREVER! What I liked about this store was that it was very well stocked, clean, and organized. You can find almost anything at a Long's drugs. It's fun to walk the middle and end-cap aisles, as there are always sale items that tempt you to purchase! The store had long lines at the checkout stations, so be patient as you shop here. I have to say - outside of the Longs drugs - it doesn't look like the cleanest and safest place. Because I couldn't find the manila envelopes at Pali Longs to mail my federal tax returns, I came here as a back-up. I live pretty much very close between these 2 Longs but Pali is 24-hours. I was surprised as when I walked in here last night, the cashier near the entrance greeted me with a smile. Wasn't expecting it but it was a nice gesture after my poor experience at Pali Longs less than 10 mins ago. Was very pleased to have found School St Longs fully stocked with manila envelopes. In addition of picking up 2 packs of envelopes, I proceeded to walk around the store to see what else I wanted to get. When it was time to pay for my goods, I went to a different cashier (not the same one who greeted me when I walked in) as her line was empty. She greeted me with a smile and asked if I found everything I needed tonight. I was so surprised how this Longs cares for their customers. I am not asking for red carpet service - - just be cordial and friendly when I have the option of shopping elsewhere but chose to come to your store!!! I've been shopping at this store since the 60s and it never disappoints. If you are a pleasant customer, the employees will go out of their way to accommodate you. Even if you are grouchy and difficult, I've witnessed many times, employees being very patient and as helpful as you allow them to be. It's a busy store with many personality types and cultures shopping there so it can't be easy to keep an upbeat attitude all day. These employees do a wonderful job inspite of the stresses they face. I'm 16, and usually get my prescription at the longs drugs pharmacy and NEVER had a problem with receiving it. But one night, One of the pharmacist told me that I have to be 18+ years of age to check out my prescription medicine. That was ridiculous. No pharmacist had EVER told me that I had to be 18+ in order to receive my prescription. My mom works in the medical field her self that relates to pharmacy and according to being realistic, you can be any age to check out your prescription WITHOUT PARENTS due to the PRIVACY of your prescription, and identification. HI KISHA! This one is for you. This cashier is super rude, now I understand if you are having a bad day , but you need to practice some self reflection and tone down that sarcasm. When a customer wants to bag their own groceries, you don't bark orders at them on how to bag it. You don't show passive aggressive communication with them. There wasn't even anyone else in line at the time of our check out. I was the only person there. How about a smile? How about a simple greeting?This isn't my first interaction with her, she is always rude even when I bring my family. Actually most of the cashiers at this location are all like this. Do we need to call HR for a therapeutic communication training? Do we need to have a little pep talk before coming out of the house or the car to ensure that you don't put your nasty attitudes upon customers? These cashiers never ask how we're doing, never greet us, never look at us, they just scan and go like robots. I rather have a self-check out option. Longs has been a Hawaii institution as long as I can remember. I was glad to have a neighborhood Longs nearby where I worked. That is, before Walgreens started to build next door to the Kamehameha Shopping Center. Now I go to Walgreens more often than Longs, but sometimes Longs has better deals on everyday products. WIth that said, the shopping experience at Longs had steadily decline during the years and it looks like it will continue to further erode with the people until they polish their image. Being in the public eye for so long makes people want different things, since the sign of the times becomes worse lately before it becomes better. I do enjoy coming to Longs for whatever I do need, but the experience just should be better than just come in, buy, and check out. There's got to be more than that. They stock the shelves daily and the value is good. I guess it just becomes montonous when it becomes just a chore after a few visits that just becomes blah after a while. It's nice that they are here, but I guess I would be better at Walgreens, versus Longs. Glad they are here, but they just got to spruce up the image a bit. The prices are decent, so I would come back just to price compare for what I need. Other than that, I wouldn't come back. I don't use the Pharmacy - unless I really need to - then again, I have Walgreens to do that for me. The parking can be bad, since Longs is tied to the existing parking structure inside Kamehameha Shopping Center. Most of the time I just come here to buy something that I need because I live in the neighborhood. But I just had to leave this review for something that happened a while back, maybe a couple years ago, that I still can't get off my mind because I was pretty annoyed. I have a huge interest when it comes to beauty so usually I buy a lot of makeup but since there weren't testers in this store, I would just buy and return if I'm dissatisfied, and most of the time I'm dissatisfied because the colors don't suit me. I wanted to return a lipstick that was, obviously, opened because I did not like how the color looked on me. I MADE SURE that the return policy would allow me to return opened products on the CVS website and it states, "Be 100% happy or receive 100% money back on any beauty products. If you're dissatisfied for any reason, you can return the beauty product (opened or unopened) along with your receipt or invoice to any CVS/pharmacy store." So when I returned the product, an older lady who was cashiering made me feel ashamed for returning an opened lipstick and told me "not to do that again" when their return policy clearly allows it. This is my first review I've written on any establishment and feel highly compelled to from my experience earlier this morning and reading previous reviews on this Store. Good "Customer Service" initiates from Store Management on proper training and hiring practices. The Reviews I've read that we're good, bad and indifferent reflects ultimately the Store Manager's demeanor and professionalism...sadly he has none. Remember, the employee's attitude reflects on how supportive Management is, once again from previous reviews the Store Manager appears to be a "TYRANT". Needed assistance to find an item in the store was assisted in a robotic way he has no personality like talking to a 2X4 piece of wood. I questioned is blatant mannerism he became very defensive and asked me to leave the Store. Instead asked him to 86 me since he felt that way in which he refused to do. First of all for A senior also known as a kapuna been getting my medication free mail delivery but know they stop and they want I sign up for CBS carepass but one I pick up my medication they said there is a fee every perception to delivery is five dollars they don't know or trained that that's not right. Then one of my medication days that they can't fill it cause insurance don't cover it then I got a text message that it is. Then also they day one of my other medication is will nit have a refill but later I check there is a order already and I call my doctor to put it in again. So many mistakes. read more

I was carrying a Zara bag and he forced me to show inside. After finding nothing inside, he LIED and said he had to check because the sensors went off. No it didn't. Nothing went off. They were unbelievably rude. My mom asked if they had a restroom and the man's response was "Where?" She was confused and said "Here." So he said, "Not for you!" She was shocked, but not feeling well so she asked if he knew where she could find one. He yelled "Where!?" at her again and she said, "Somewhere in the shopping center?" He told her to go outside and look. He didn't seem to be mentally disabled, just angry and stupid. First of all, if you cater to people who need medication because of illness or age, you should have a public restroom. If you don't, you don't need to respond that way.
