Let me begin that we are not from Wimberley. We do travel here at least 3 times a year. Three years ago we stumbled onto Longleaf for our Anniversary. It was amazing! We were so impressed we spoke with the Owner and the Chef. We went back for the following New Year's Eve. The food was undercooked and service was horrible. We found out the Chef was not there. We took it as an "Oh well, we will try again!" Two years later we made reservations for our anniversary last night. The restaurant was packed. We were given a 2 top table in the corner where fir some reason the air conditioner was blowing directly on us! By the way it was 49 degrees outside. We mentioned this to our waitress who replied with a shrug. We ordered. I ordered the strawberry feta salad and the off menu appetizer. My husband ordered the lasagna with a salad. My salad was superb! The appetizer that I was having as my entree and my husband's meal finally came out. His dinner was plated horribly!! The lasagna was warm ( not hot) and the salad was in the plate so when he added dressing it ran into the lasagna. My crawfish crab cake was a joke. It literally had two pieces of chopped crawfish in it. The main dish was the tomatoes and basil for $26. Never did our waitress say that the appetizer was quite small and I probably should not order it as a small entree. Oh well, we have learned. Stumbled upon this place while visiting Blue Hole Park, walking around the adorable town of Wimberley! The outside looks like a cozy house and you walk into a very warm place with wood everywhere which I love. The lay out is nice with a bar right at the front. I ordered the bourbon drink Mourning Glory and it did not disappoint, perfectly mixed. We had a very sweet server, I wish I could remember her name (brown hair, very young looking, knew the menu very well and super personable). I ordered the last special of togarashi tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes. Thank you to my server who got my order in so quickly!! Oh my gosh this was a Michelin worthy dish and I'm surprised this place has such incredible food and is a hidden gem. Chef Robert is amazing and he changes the special every week leaving me to want to make the drive weekly for his creativity and talent. I also tried the lemon dill salmon and both fish dishes were some of the best I've ever had; I'm a bit of a self proclaimed fish connoisseur. The property is very warm and feels like you're visiting friends for dinner. You've gained a fan for life and I don't mind sharing how much I love this place; just please don't order the last special. read more

It was a hot day on a Saturday, around 1pm. Some of us were hangry and some of us weren't. We didn't want diner type food at the restaurant next door, so we came to this place. It wasn't terribly busy and got a table right away. The inside was a rustic cabin feel, and it had A/C! From looking at the menu, you can tell this food was a lot more refined than next door. Each of our meals were yummy. The bruschetta was delicious. The tomato soup and salad I had was refreshing and delicious. Every person in the family enjoyed their food, even the hangry one. I must say, it took a while for our food to come out. I don't know if they were understaff or not (or it's the speed of Wimberley), but I did noticed some tables waited a while to even order or get a glass of water. We were originally thinking of eating at the Leaning Pear but it was closed on Mondays... Longleaf has good ratings as well so that was our new destination. David was our waiter, informative but his speech was very fast... hard to follow. His recommendations were spot on though, the lasagna I ordered was sumptuous, the avo/wild rice/shrimp salads delicious (and we're not really shrimp people), and the crispy potatoes were awesome. Deviled eggs were good as well. No complaints here. If David would have slowed the speech down a bit we'd have had a better experience... something to keep in mind. Me and some friends headed down to Wimberley, Texas. We hit up a few places for drinks and we're told this place was exquisite. First of all you have to have a reservation to dine here. The vibe it gave me was as like eating at a friend's house. Very friendly, nice lighting with a western influence. As for the bathrooms, they are outside very clean and comfortable. What I did notice was there was outdoor dining also. This place could be a place to bring your significant other, very romantic or just a place you can just relax. The outside seating was glorious, decorated with lights plenty of seating. Would be great for a group party. In order chicken and rice and it was delicious. My friends ordered quail, steak and a pork-chop, they were all delighted. Sorry no pictures this time but will definitely visit this establishment again for sure. Overall, the food was amazing; overpriced in our opinion but delicious!! The staff were nice, but could have been a little more attentive, especially since it wasn't busy. For example, we had to baby our water to ensure we had enough before it was refilled. NOT a huge deal, but the small details always make the experience. We would recommend coming and trying a few different things. We ordered a few appetizers and shared a main course (ribeye - not pictured) so that we could try different items on the menu and not break the bank. What an unfortunate, horrible experience! Very cute and quaint place with outside seating. Everything started great ordering drinks and appetizers and then it all went south. Approximately 40 minutes passed between ordering appetizers and me having to go inside to look for our waitress who is at the bar having a conversation with two other people. I asked why she hadn't come back all this time and all she said she would be right out. We ordered the main course, it arrived after 20 minutes. The waitress came by immediately to ask everything looks OK before we can taste anything. And then she disappeared again until I had to go inside to ask for the check after a long time. One of the items we ordered as a main course with the liver moves, which is really a liver pate, but they should change the name, they ran out. I saw the Chef walk by and I called him over to ask him jokingly why they ran out of the liver pate. He was rude and cold, and Simply said because we did. This restaurant was ok. While walking in the square, we decided to stop in for lunch. We walked up to the hostess stand and the hostess asked us if we had a reservation, which we did not. She then told us there was a bar table so we took that. When we got inside, the place was pretty empty, so I didn't understand the need for a reservation. The food was good. I had the Strawberry salad, which was pretty tasty and my hubby had the sirloin sandwich. Service was a little slow; considering it wasn't very busy inside, not sure what keep the waitstaff occupied. This is for the 2024 NYE dinner only, as I've never eaten here before and probably won't again. It was extremely disappointing. There were 2 of us, and we each had one cocktail. Our bill was $199. Added to the $100 deposit to hold our reservation and it was a $300 meal, not including tip. For that kind of money, this dinner should have been off the charts amazing. We left hungry and went to HEB afterwards. Our server, Kate, was lovely. The restaurant was cozy. Drinks were decent. One glass of free champagne was a nice touch. It was a 3 course, plated dinner. We ordered the scallops, lobster, and the spiced pear and chocolate mousse. The scallops appetizer was actually ONE scallop. It was overcooked but had a decent flavor. The sauce was amazing. But seriously...ONE scallop? For a three hundred dollar meal? Next was a very tasty palette cleanser. The menu said "additional small bites." Was that the additional small bite? Because that's the only additional thing that wasn't listed on the menu. Next, the lobster. It was SO dry & over-cooked, we struggled to get it out of the shell. Very chewy. It was topped with a "crab relish". I don't know how it was supposed to taste, but it was dry and flaky, with zero flavor. The saffron risotto was very good. Dessert. The chocolate mousse was nothing special but the spiced pear was amazing. Not the worst meal I've ever had, but it wasn't worth $300, at all. read more

Bartender spoke some Italian as I am fluent as we got our Malbec and Martini, Mercedes our server was nice, quick, great smile and had everything done very well. Wife's steak was good, olives fried up were good as well. The Chef came out, nice personable and you can tell he loves people and his job.- Good folks making it happen in a good atmosphere. So here's the rub........ My Wagyu burger was dry, had no flavor, the bun did nothing to help as this meal was nothing special. The lady next to us appeared to have the same issue it seemed. Maybe it was night or what ever- things do happen. However here's the saddest part. I kept my left over for the manager to tell figuring they would want to know. in stepped Lenny the manager. I told him what I just said above and he said, "there's nothing wrong with the burger".... I retorted," we I disagreed and so does that lady apparently", Well he said, "there's nothing wrong with the burger, I eat it 5-6x's a week or almost everyday". He just stood there, looked over at my Stetson hanging on the wall behind me. I will take it off the ticket, he said. I said no thanks we pay our own way and thats not why I asked for the manager, - its not a good burger, there was no flavor, bland..... "Well, thats your opinion and my opinion is that there's nothing wrong with that burger".- I said I disagree- Again, he said for the third time, There's nothing wrong with the burger", I'll take it off your ticket and I replied - No thanks, we pay our own way I just thought your investment into this franchise, you would want to know and that it may have been a bad night or mistake. He said," No'. My wife sat there looking at him him in disbelief. Again he looked at my Stetson and I got his subluminal message... We obviously were not his type of culture.Che I have written two reviews - this is one of them and the people who invested capital into this venture should know about Big Lenny and his attitude. In the long run, no one will care about this event, it will not even matter to people, especially Big Lenny- definitely not. No one will even care or give two shits in 2 days- 2 weeks and 2 years. I'm not a Key board Warrior- I'm willing to come face to face with him and the people who invested venture capital to get this restaurant franchise up and going. You just dont let people make a run at your in any circumstance- I've had plenty in my career and I give no quarter. Now by accident - I actually have all of this recorded. My wife and I ate here on a late night adventure. It was a fun date and what made it even better was the kind staff and attentive service. Our waitress was quick and informative. Although we were handed the lunch menu, she was very apologetic when we asked if we had the correct menu. For appetizers we ordered the warm bread and butter which was delicious and the butter had a nice salty tang. We then ordered the Shrimp en Croute, which was ok... but, I don't think I would get it again just because it didn't have the rich flavor I was looking for. To drink I had the Agave in bloom which had a nice lavender note making it very relaxing to sip. My wife ordered the Zen & Tonic which had a cucumber & orange peal taste. It was refreshing to say the least. For entrees I ordered the Wagyu beef burger (medium rare) which rocked my socks. I went to bed thinking about that thick piece of meat. My wife ordered airline chicken breast, the chicken breast was juicy, tender, and had great flavor. the chicken was sitting on a bed of creamy spinach risotto that was so comforting. It was topped with crunchy fried onions which really brought the dish together. Overall, a great experience. My only complaint is the price for the drinks and appetizers... My husband's lasagna was not even an entire piece, but scraps from the pan. I rarely (if ever) leave bad reviews, well today's the day and here's why. To kick things off, I don't find satisfaction in bashing people or businesses for the sake of bashing, this review is to shed light on the reality of parenting for those who either do not know or seem to have forgot.....hello there. My family & I drove in all the way from Georgetown for a relaxing lunch at Longleaf (where we have been before)....and that was quickly cut short. After ordering food my 2 year old daughter for no reason decided to throw a tantrum (as many 2 years do) however I choose, as I always do, regardless where these tantrums take place in public or not - to ignore my daughters tantrums since I choose not to reinforce my daughters behavior by calling attention to it. That said her tantrums typically pass within minutes of me dismissing them, otherwise I take it upon myself to remove myself from whatever public situation we are in to avoid causing any disturbance to the surrounding guests. (Yes, believe it or not parents of the crying children don't find it fun, appealing or enjoyable anymore then the person sitting next to them does.) However, today at Longleaf, the manager of this establishment: Pam Tise (pictured here) quickly approached our table (if I could guesstimate ...probably within less than 3 minutes of my daughters tantrum kicking in) to tell me my daughter is disturbing the guests & we need to take her outside or leave (mind you it is 99 degrees today, taking into consideration humidity .....) I informed Pam Tise of two things: it's nearly 100 degrees outside & my daughter is just a baby, she isn't accustomed to this heat (I'm a Texan native for nearly 40 years & I'm not even accustomed to this heat, you think a child is??) and mentioned (although I don't need to explain my parenting approach) dismissing my daughters behavior is what results in the behavior stopping. And in the event the behavior doesn't stop: I take it upon myself to leave. Simple as that. Furthermore, I worked in the service industry myself for numerous years - I get it, it's annoying, it's uncomfortable and unpleasant for guests - let me reiterate: it's the same for the parents as well. Furthermore Pam Tise also came clapping back at me, accusing me of saying the "F" word at her, which was outlandish as I would not publicly disrespect someone in front of my daughter (however let it be known I have no issues with the "F" word, simply not my choice of language when being confronted in front of my child.) That said, I was disgusted by Pam Tise's attitude, therefore my family and I abruptly left. ***NOTE TO LONGLEAF OWNERS**** Please educate your managers on parenthood, namely Pam Tise - it seems like it's been a while since they have raised a child. Give the parents a hot minute to restore order before attempting to push out loyal customers so quickly. Second, I suggest retraining your management on Longleaf's mission, passion, and purpose that states, "serving approachable food without the pretense or price of fine dining...... with exceptional hospitality in an atmosphere of warmth, where everyone is welcome." --- today's experience demonstrated that mission, passion and purpose is FAILING as a result of YOUR management, namely Pam Tise and their accusatory, unprofessional and disrespectful behavior. Rest assured - ya'll have our commitment we will NEVER be returning to your establishment again. We am not the first, and I am certain we won't be the last as long as Pam Tise or any of your management & service team treats your customers this way. read more

Have you ever had an apple tart so good that you felt like eating it was illegal? If yes, then you've had the tart from here. Beyond delicious! Do you need more than an apple tart to go here? Fair! Clean, cozy, and friendly atmosphere. Our server's name was Eric and he was so nice! Struck up some casual conversation, answered any questions we had, and stayed on top of our needs. He was seriously never too far away. The food! Besides the tart I absolutely enjoyed the vegetable lasagna. I did not see much in terms of vegan options, but it felt like the kind of place that would make accommodations if you asked. I was told the quail dish was well cooked and tasty.
