We started with private classes after I got my sweet German Shepherd Dog puppy. As a previous GSD owner and having had other dogs too, I know the importance of a well trained and well balanced dog, especially with a larger breed. Private lessons went great! Always good to have a refresher on puppy training as they do t stay that way long. It's amazing the little things that can be forgotten over the years. We worked on all the basics, potty training, chewing, jumping and early commands like come, sit and drop it. What was also nice is being able to ask about any concerns. Learning about the psychology of days has been sooo very useful! It's so easy to think of our fur friends and apply human thoughts, feelings and behavior.but that just isn't the case! Their dogs and see the world different. Learning to see the world and situations through my sweet girls eyes has been a wonderful journey Lisa has taken us on! It has really enhanced the "basic training" you'd normally get with anyone else. We have also been able to attend a round of group classes. Even though this is not easy for me it's so so very important to expose young dogs to other dogs and people so they learn good behavior and just to have that exposure is good. The group classes were great! Lisa not only trained us people how to work with our dogs teaching commands (Let's face it, it's really people training we get because we're the ones going home and working with our fur babies everyday.lol) but she again gave us insight into why we should do things one way and not another way. Lisa explains these dog insights and behaviors so well that it just makes sense! I have continued with occasional private sessions as things have come up and wish I could do more group classes again, I just haven't had the ability to get us there unfortunately. I very highly recommend Lisa at Best Paws Forward for any training and behavior needs!! Thanks for everything you have done for us,Lisa I appreciate you and your help so very much!

I get complimented frequently of how well behaved my dog is. How calm she is and they can't believe that she's only 3. Lisa is always open for questions and making sure that it is a clear understanding of what to do. She has options of different types of tools to use to help lead your dog to success. I also love that after class she gives the option for puppy play time.

I was a first time dog boarding customer who used this boarding facility for 2 nights and 3 days…read morefrom Friday to Sunday. I think that for the things they do, $35 a night for boarding is a price that can't be beat. They offer group play or one on one play. Drop off and pick up are easy to navigate. Their location is very close to the Great Wolf lodge. Bryan was happy to show me the kennels upon request, Scott was kind enough to give us some tips on building our dog's confidence, and Gale was professional at all times. The presentation of the facility was clean, bright, and organized. The kennels are indoors with a platform that is attached to the wall. I can tell they spent a lot of time on their website as well, providing a plethora of info for you to indulge in should you have any questions. With that said, I do have some small qualms. I sent my dog's shot records as requested via email but I did not receive a confirmation of the receipt. When I called a couple days before our reservation to double check, I had learned that they did in fact receive my email but my dog did not have all his shot records present when I thought that he did. I was flustered at the thought of driving so far on the day of to potentially just getting rejected because we were missing information. Secondly, my dog definitely didn't use the potty enough. This may not have been at the fault of the trainers considering my guy probably held it in but he had thee longest pee of his life that I've ever seen after I picked him up. Since there's no knowing for sure how often supervision over potty breaks happen, my recommendation for all the first timers would be to not board your anxious dog. Overall we are satisfied with the experience.

I was even injured when breaking them up the last time they fought. It has been about two months since Deb visited and trained ME how to handle them. She spent time with each dog and helped me get to the bottom of the conflict. This woman is amazing! And the way she handles dogs is inspiring! I have learned how to be the leader of my pack. I have learned how to watch for signs of conflict between the dogs. I have been able to teach the older and smaller one how to disengage when he doesn't want to play with the younger, larger dog instead of fighting. The day of their last fight, I was ready to rehome one or both of them. I didn't think I would ever be able to have them out in the yard together again. But thanks to Deb's dog magic, they play together every day now and take breaks from each other when they need to. And I haven't even mentioned how great the younger one is with the kids now or how responsive and helpful Deb has continued to be with follow up questions. I can't say enough good things about Doogie Du-Rite. Thank you, Deb, for saving our furry family!

After dealing with other dog trainers in the area I wouldn't recommend this one by far. No positive reinforcement and only taught my dog what the prong collar was. Only negative reinforcement to a dog who was only fearful/ slightly aggressive. My most loving dog did better without a prong collar and lots of praise. Our Vet also didn't recommend this place. Run and go with someone who is more knowledgeable. So many red flags for this place and trust the negative reviews

He…read moreteaches owners to use negative reinforcement which is scientifically the LEAST effective training tactic out there. Both dogs are extremely reactive to new people entering the owners home, to the point of fear from guests, and needing to put them away and use straight up animal abuse tactics to "correct" them (taught by the trainer). One friend uses a prong coller (used to cause pain when dogs pull on the leash) in the home to correct them when barking at visitors by pulling up (HARD) on it to cause pain. Another owner was told to CHOKE their dog when aggressive behavior was shown. This dog bit my husband and put him in the hospital, and if this person wasn't a friend we would have wanted the dog to be put down as this dog is EXTREMELY aggressive, and this training hasn't even kind of helped. Unless you want your dog to react and act aggressively to anyone but you, take them to someone who teaches positive reinforcement, which is good for bonding and creating positive interaction, even in situations that cause stress on the dog, you can create a positive experience and make them less aggressive with a different trainer. This guy clearly isn't it, based on the dogs I've met that he has "trained" (one was even trained since she was a puppy, the other started training after aggressive behavior had already started)
