Turkey sandwich and mashed potatoes - good
    Bailey M.

Great casual restaurant in Springfield. Since there is limited seating you order at the counter first then take a seat so it is fair and so people with food have somewhere to sit. I love the amount of options on their menu and that they have various side options. Any time I can get mashed potatoes at a sandwich shop I'm extra happy. My friend got the pork Mac and cheese. She said it was good but very heavy. I had the turkey sandwich with cheese and mashed potatoes. It was good! I like that it came with a side of tomato soup for dunking. It was a big sandwich so I had plenty of food. I also purchased a chocolate chip cookie. It was big and delicious! The staff was very friendly and the food was quick. Prices are fair. My friend told me it is always busy here so expect a line. We went when they opened and a line formed instantly.

Long Nine hands down has some of the best food in all of Springfield, let alone downtown. Yeah, it gets lines, but they have managed super well, with the procedures for cleanliness and service during these tough times. I'd swear by the Pork Belly BLT and the Crack Chicken, and don't forget to pick up some Mac n Cheese. They really are doing something special in downtown Springfield. Thanks!

Stopped in for a birthday lunch. Encountered a line immediately upon walking which told me... this must be good! I ordered the citrus chipotle pork shoulder and the house made pickles. Wow. The others in my party had the roasted chicken and Thai chicken wrap. Also there a cosmic brownie that I had a small nibble of... Everything was delicious!!! Service was fast, friendly and dependable. My only knock would the space is a little narrow and there is limited seating but appears like they do a lot of carry out business. If you plan to come eat on an evening I'd ask about reservations. Also the atmosphere/soundtrack is smooth. Listening to "How Deep is Your Love" as I type this out while the others finish their meals. Highly recommend for lunch for sure! I'll try supper here another time and report on my experience. Eat here, it's worth it. For real.

Hands down the best food in Springfield. I travel here from Chicago for work at least once a month. This place beats out the fancy restaurants for quality & delicious food. This would be a stand out sandwich place even in Chicago. I've tried the French dip before and it's awesome. Today, I got the roast beef with dill havarti cheese & caramelized onions. It is AMAZING with au jus instead of horseradish (not a fan). Beef is juicy & flavorful. Bread is crunchy without being hard. The side of broccoli also surprised me with how good it was. Staff is always friendly & food is quick. It's also possibly the only restaurant here with some style. Ambiance is great. I love this place!

    grilled cheese with red "mashies"

I just ate the best grilled cheese sandwich of my life: focaccia with Swiss, provolone, white American and garlic herb cream cheese. It came with tomato soup for dunking and I ordered it with something called "mashies": roasted red potatoes in sea salt and olive oil. The service was quick and friendly and the prices were very reasonable. It was a rainy, cold, snowy day and this hit the spot.

    Monterey turkey with tomato bisque.

Even though I struggled to find them with my navigation (which kept taking me one block over), I was determined to eat here upon seeing five stars at nearly 180 reviews - - it might be the most consistently highest rated restaurant I've ever sought out and, let me tell you, my dining companion and I were NOT disappointed. The food is fresh, flavorful, and homemade - - a real taste good, feel good experience. My colleague had the French dip with mac-n-cheese and I enjoyed the Monterey turkey with tomato bisque. My sandwich, which was delectable on its own, came with a spicy black bean dipping sauce which I couldn't get my brain around at first and now am not sure I can live without - - so, so good! My only criticism, and it is hard to come by, frankly, is that the homemade pickles weren't my jam (and I generally LOVE homemade pickles) and the cookies on display at the cash register were just okay - the chocolate chip cookie in particular was very cakey - not my style. Bottom line, though, I'm jealous this gem resides in Springfield and wish they would venture over to STL where I could be a regular.

For the buffet, you pay first then find a table. OK, just don't chit-chat so much -- take the money and move on to the next party. We paid and found a table -- boy, it is loud in there!! We headed to the buffet. Scrambled eggs were in the first container. OMG, they looked terrible!! Scrambled eggs are not supposed to be brown!! Thankfully, they had an omelet/eggs to order station so I was able to get scrambled eggs that were correctly prepared. The bacon was under-cooked and the sausage was tasteless. Cottage fries were ok. All of the breads and pastries were probably from Sam's. Coffee and juices were included in the price and the orange juice was good. You could order Bloody Marys or Mimosas for more $$$ but we stuck with coffee and juice. For the price, I would not go back. The buffet was kept re-stocked and the staff on the floor were friendly, but it just wasn't what I was hoping for on Mother's Day!

But when I got home and started going through my food, I realized something was off. I noticed what I thought was an extra dessert in a flimsy plastic container, but when I looked closer, it turned out my baked dark meat chicken was missing -- the main part of my order. I called twice. No answer. Straight to voicemail. Voicemail was full. So I drove all the way back, tried to go inside -- doors locked. Got back in the drive-thru line and explained the issue. Then the woman who I assume was the owner or head cook came to the window, and instead of addressing my concern professionally, she hit me with sarcasm and attitude -- as if I was out of line for coming back for food I paid for. She insisted she personally packed the chicken and tried to make it seem like I was the problem. When I mentioned there was a container in the bag that looked like pie, she snapped that they didn't serve sweet potato pie that day. Eventually, she handed me what looked like a pie container and told me to open it. Sure enough, it was the chicken -- but it was so dry and shriveled, no wonder I mistook it for a slice of pie. At that point, I told her flat-out: I'm never coming back. To that woman -- if you're reading this -- your behavior was unprofessional, your customer service was dismissive and hostile, and your food wasn't even worth the trip. Mistakes happen, but instead of owning it, you doubled down with attitude and dry chicken in a dessert container. Word of advice: stop assaulting your chicken. Inject it with something buttery, juicy, and respectful before putting it out in the world. Because nobody wants to eat food that looks and tastes like regret. I will not be returning, and I'll be warning others to stay far away.
