The food was fresh and delicious and the management was really nice i will visit again soon

I really have a huge nostalgic heart for LJS -growing up, my dad would take us kids and any friends we had staying overnight on the weekend, pile us into our van and we'd go to LJS. The fried clams, fish and chicken were always delicious. Sadly, all the ones near us in NoVa have closed, so we ducked into this one on a road trip. Food (5/5): Everything was fried fresh to order and delivered quickly. Lobster bites - A special from LJS - these are little langoustines "Norway lobsters" that had a seasoned breading. Not bad, but LJS really specializes in their crunchy breaded fish. Fried fish - I think it's been a decade since I last had this fish. The crunchy breading is unlike anything I've had and I wonder why it's been so long since I had it! Fried clams- Just ok. Clams used to be my favorite thing here, but now it's the fish Service (5//5): The workers here were really kind and the food came our fast and fresh. Is there a rating lower than one star? Woman could not get order right as we tried to explain complicated terms like meal #5. When food came (35 minutes later) they didnt give us one of our orders. No sides. Just two fish on a plate. Manager seemed like he was on drugs. Got angry and accused us of trying to rip them off. Eventually gave us the other meal. Still no sides. Everyone there was having similar issues. When one woman said she wanted to know where her meal was the manager pointed at us and told her we stole it from her. Eventually he tried to kick us out as we were getting a tad agitated trying to get our fries. Calling this a restaurant is a joke. read more

I stopped by tonight and ordered 2 2 piece fish dinners with fries and 1 extra piece of fish and one extra coleslaw.. When i got home i had one box with just a piece of fish, and one box with 1 piece of fish and some fries.. I called the store and the first person hung up on me. I Called back and the lady said no one messed up the store did.. What does that even mean.. Somebody made my order wrong.. Then she hung up. I called back a third time and she said its not their problem but if I bring my reciept and the food back 30 minutes to the store they would give me what ever is missing.. I asked about how they were going to take care of my hour long round trip to come back and she again said it is not their issue.. This was absolutely the worst experience of my eating life. We stopped because we always enjoy LJS, but the Staunton store was a huge mistake. Not only was it filthy, we watched the fry cook walk in from smoking a cigarette out back and without washing his hands go right back to work preparing shrimp. No employ in the store was wearing a mask or gloves. One employee, a young man was taking a nap in a booth. This visit occurred on Tuesday May 5th 2020 at 1:20 p.m. We ordered two 3 piece fish meals with coleslaw and French Fries. When we got our order my wife's meal was Chicken strips with soggy fries and rice. My order was fish with green beans and again soggy fries. The fish was cold and greasy. The entire meal was nasty and we ended up tossing it in the trash. We noticed the people in the car in front of us returning immediately. They must have also gotten the wrong meals. These employees just don't care, which makes it obvious why their locations are closing all over this part of Virginia. We are finished with Long John Silvers. Our advice is to keep driving there are plenty of other options in the town of Staunton. The restaurants on Richmond Ave. are clean, and offering good service, however, we didn't see one person besides ourselves wearing a mask or gloves in the entire time we were in Staunton. Update: it didn't take 12+ minutes for our food. But the food was terrible and cold. Old fries, stale hush puppies. Our "root beer float" was melted. She tried to please us by giving us large drinks but gave a Mountain Dew when that isn't what we asked for. Then, as we finally got to leave...they forgot one of our meals. There's places like this that serve as nostalgia. I'm in town very briefly. This was one of my favorite places to go when I lived here. We are in drive thru, we ordered our food with 3 cars in front of us. Pretty slow for each car. But this is the kicker, it has been 12 minutes and counting in the drive thru for the car ahead of us. Pray that it doesn't take an extra 12 plus minutes for ours. Disappointed doesn't even begin to describe how I'm feeling. read more

Slowest service out of any place I've ever been to. I've lived in Staunton for 2 years now and they've always had a long ass line. Also one day my fiancé was the ONLY car in line. She paid for the food at the window and they "forgot" she was at the window for over 20 minutes. She had to walk inside and remind them. I live about 45 minutes east of here where the Long John Silver's closed five plus years ago and became a Cook Out. Sometimes I have a project at a retailer nearby or somewhere in Staunton so every once in a while I eat here. I think the food is still good but the restaurant needs a deep cleaning. I ate here Tuesday, March 13th and actually ate inside. The floor was in dire need of a sweeping but the restaurant was as busy as I think I've ever seen it. The men's bathroom is small, narrow and just barely better than using a porta john except I've seen handicap ones cleaner than this bathroom. Heck, the Virginia Welcome Center rest area has cleaner facilities. It takes a few minutes to get your order which seems to be because the fish, chicken, etc are fried fresh. For the first time I tried their Mac and cheese and was pleasantly surprised. They seem to load it on the plate as well as the coleslaw. The food was good and brought back memories from when I was a kid. Long John Silver's seem to be slowly disappearing so who knows how much longer this one will last but I hope they clean the place up. read more

Even though this is fast food, it's always fresh and tastes amazing. The wait time for the drive thru is long, but I believe it's that way at every location. I hope this location stays open! It's my favorite place to eat. read more
