Red lobster is mediocre quality high price sea food! It's such an American staple! We haven't been to one in over 10 years! We are on our way to Shakespeare theater and decided to drop in! Love the Staunton, VA location. The wait staff are very sweet and kind. I also love that the sun isn't shining in our faces when we sit down to eat. My husband and I come here 1-2 times per month and my favorite is the fish and chips. Their Chesapeake fries are so good. I'd give 5 stars except that the last two times we've order the Brussel sprouts they were fried until black and makes them bitter and inedible! I enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the Staunton location yesterday. The food and service are always consistently good here. Food/service were always hit /miss at the Charlottesville store and extremely unacceptable at the Lynchburg location. The Staunton store is always good! We had the new Tuesday special.....Snow Crab Legs with crispy potatoes and choice of side. (One pound of crab legs!!). I chose coleslaw and my daughter had broccoli. Our meals were GREAT! We were there around 2:00 in the afternoon. There were quite a few folks there dining and everything seemed peaceful and calm. Wonderful experience! read more

We arrived at Red Lobster today at 3:25pm. And we are just leaving. The place was unclean. The service was bad. The crab dip was ok. The crab legs were not cooked correctly so that was a waste of money. We just spent 220 dollars for 3 people and it was terrible. read more

We came here on a Monday so he did the endless shrimp deal and I got the parrot island jump coconut shrimp which I love. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. They have the little computers at the table so you can pay right there when finished with your card. I don't go to Red Lobster much. It's basically Seafood Applebees. The food is expensive and usually doesn't taste very good. But I am not from The Staunton area and didn't know where to eat. So I ate seafood Applebees. Had a waitress named Tasha who was very good, attentive and helpful with the menu. There was a bus boy / host who noticed I didn't have one of the crab tools I was supposed to have (I didn't even notice) but he brought it over to me. I was low-key wowed by that. How often would your average host / bus boy notice a minor detail like that? Wow. You just don't get service like that anymore. The crab and steak combo was really good. This experience was A-OK. We were driving back from a holiday getaway, decided we needed a break and food. The Red Lobster menu has changed and now has a tapas page and we decided to work off of that. We picked four items including stuffed mushrooms, a lobster roll, a veggie item, and tater tots. They were all fine. Our server seemed busy but did a good job with attending and helping after the initial waiting period. The best item was the biscuits which we received warm and very much enjoyed. I am not a big eater so I was really pleased that I could purchase a single lobster tail. My companions, were however, quite hungry and each enjoyed their entree. BUT our server, Brandon, was over the top! Helpful and pleasant down to the sulky little six year old birthday girl! It's a darn good thing you're not located in Baltimore because I'd promise him the moon to work for friends of mine. He was polished and respectful with a marvelous, just right sense of humor. He also knows your menu inside and out - a real plus when you've got a full house. Food was decent, the mozzarella sticks were good but the marinara is really bad. Food wasn't bad for the two of us though. Our service was poor, it wasn't the worst but it wasn't great by no means. Our waitress cared for another table across from us more than us. We were seated a good 5/10 mins before them and they received their drinks before us and the biscuits. We stopped in while traveling through Virginia. We were greeting promptly by the very nice hostess, who seated us immediately. We were even given a option of a booth or table. Some times you don't get a choice. The restaurant is large and very clean. Our server came to take our drink order right away and told us about all the specials they have for lunch, she was very friendly and accommodating because we were having a difficult time deciding on our meals. The staff were friendly but there was a casual lack of any interest or responsibility in basics: ordering, getting water and the (excellent) biscuits, waiting, waiting, waiting for the food and then trying, trying just to get the check... those were the forerunners to simply pay the bill and get out of the joint. Probably twenty minutes of invisible waiter, indifferent other staff who made it very clear they didn't know where he was, didn't care, didn't intend to find him. The restaurant was maybe a quarter full, so there several others just standing around. We got out of there at last - no explanation or sense of attention or urgency. Once out, definitely not a place to return to. My rating of 1 for service is probably not quite accurate. 0.5 is more correct. a shame but at least we did escape in the end. read more

Normally, the food is great and service matches, but not on January 19. The service was awful and the waitress seemed as if it were a personal attack to ask for cheddar Bay biscuits. She rolled her eyes and told us that came strictly with the salads. Then messed up our order, trying to hint around for us to pay for her mistake. No thanks! Managers notified when is waitress disappeared, but avoided our table once he realized that we had a complaint. The meal I ordered did not match the description on the menu and had so much cilantro on it that I couldn't eat it. It went in the trash! We aggressively take advantage of discounts here. Normally our choice for a date night out. We got a $50 gift card for Christmas and went with some friends for dinner on a Tuesday night. Not normally busy they were packed. The manager called me the next day after I did the survey to let them know the service was off and she urged to refund my gift card and the $30 I paid for one of our guests because her food was child and she didn't eat (we felt bad so we covered hers). I live in Hampton Rds but my Mom, whom is a shut-in, lives in Staunton. I love ordering her favorite coconut shrimp as a treat for her to enjoy when I'm not in town but they can't take credit cards via phone and I didn't want her caregiver paying and me repaying her. The awesome manager, Jimmy, suggested we do an on line gift card. That young man stayed on the phone with me until completed and ensured my Moms order was prepared simultaneously. I'm not a fan of chains but this place is your run of the mill red lobster. This location is small and dark which is not necessarily bad but I can see how it can get packed and loud quick. Came here for lunch and it was nice and quiet. Awesome waitress who was super helpful and gave us good space. The seafood is ok (I'm used to VA beach fresh seafood) and it can get pricey quick. Husband got fish tacos which were mediocre, we split the ceasar salad which was good, the biscuits are always the best, and I had mozzarella sticks which were average (I'm pregnant so can't have most seafood right now). Walked in for the first time in years and had an amazing experience. Wait staff was friendly, restaurant was clean- even light fixtures and trim, which often get neglected in restaurants. The bathroom floor was slightly sticky, but the bathroom appeared clean. We told our server we were in a hurry, and the entire meal from the time we sat down to the time we left took 30 minutes. The food was delicious, from the side salad (amazing ranch dressing, and the salad wasn't just lettuce- it had tomatoes, onions, croutons and cheese) and classic cheddar bay biscuits to the always delicious coconut shrimp with pineapple mango dip. My husband ordered the chicken Alfredo and it was packed with flavor. The fried flounder and fries were good, but fairly average. Hit and missed today we order stuffed mushroom for appetizer and a main dish the appetizer never came out the side for the dish didn't came out at the same time, when we advise the manager she apologize and went to order appetizer on the house but the waitress came up to the table to denied that she was told about the order rule number 1 you never say to customers I never heard that you order that you as a waitress say I am sorry I will get that order right of way and that should be the end of it so my wife got off her seat and told another waitress she didn't want the appetizer anymore cause she doesn't like to be called a liar and she didn't want the staff to think that she goes there for any discount she also notice how other staff was looking at her so I guess the rumor ran faster that a Amtrak train we finally got out of there and decided not to ever visit this red lobster again.
