Pile o' paper, for a 7 foot journey.
John B.

I stopped in after getting my equine supplies nearby. Every once in a while I get hooked on fish. This, was one of those days. I got the 2 piece fish dinner, with slaw and hush puppies. No problems, everything was good, as usual. What did bother me? When my order was ready, even though I was a 'dine-in' customer, they handed me a plastic bag with a paper box inside and tons of napkins. A WHOLE lot of PAPER to throw away after I walk 7 feet to dine at a table! (I get the premise, Covid and all, but our planet is paying the price now, too!) On top of that, you now have to ask for ketchup and other condiments, again due to Covid they do not have those condiment pumps active anymore. I asked for ketchup and tartar sauce, which come in those little plastic packets. (Now, we're using MORE plastics, too! Poor Mother Earth!) You know? In theory, those little packets of condiments 'should' be a safer alternative to the pumps.....BUT, figure in that these packets get handled alot, by probably multiple people and that safety factor decreases. The person who took my order and HANDLED my debit card is also the same one who grabbed a handful of packets and put them in my food bag. ALL the while wearing gloves, for safety. The same pair of gloves. WHY does that MATTER, you may ask? Have you ever had problems opening one of those plastic packets? You tug and tear but no luck. Normally, you might be tempted to bite it open. BUT, IF you DO, you are putting anything that was on the staff's hands into your MOUTH! THEN, once you DO GET it OPEN, you squeeze the packet like toothpaste, and what usually happens? It's darn near impossible to get the contents out without them oozing over and around the torn opening you created to get at them! ONCE AGAIN, you just CONTAMINATED your condiments with any soiled matter that was lurking on the plastic! There MUST be ANOTHER way! A way to stay safe, while trying to stay ecologically friendlier... I've included pictures....of the pile of paper AND of the condiment conundrum! Stay healthy and stay safe!

Lots of choices.

I don't usually give five stars to fast food, but they have the BEST Hush Puppies and A&W Root Beer.

Also visited the Silver dolphin with my children, for Mother's Day and on St. Patrick's Day. The silver dolphin never disappoints. Hernando Beach restaurant that frequently has a short wait for seating... but is 100% worth the wait! Staff are small-town friendly and feels like home. While you wait, there is a large gift shop to peruse with decent pricing from local artists. Weather permitting, ask for seating outside. But if they are really full, the indoor seating is almost as nice (plus it has air-conditioning). Weekend specials on certain beverages, so early birds always save more money. We had the fish tacos, shrimp, tacos, watermelon Mojito, and steak sub. The fish tacos were divine and my daughter loved the shrimp tacos as well. Breakfast platters are healthy portions and also didn't disappoint. If you get there early, they have weekend mimosa and Bloody Mary specials (BOGO). Our favorite person was an elderly woman that cleans up the dishes. So incredibly sweet, kind and personable. Staff is very efficient, friendly, and food arrives rather quickly... along with beverages. Great view overlooking a canal, small deck on canal, complete with view of snapping turtles, cool breeze, shade, and areas to take pictures (dock, mermaid statues, dolphin statue, florida signage, etc.) We will definitely be back (again)!

However, it is nice that this is conveniently located just off of US 19. That said, this is a great, quick bar type atmosphere with good food. They have a onion appetizer that is similar to the blooming onion at Steakhouse's. It is fabulous. They also have drink specials like a rocket pop during specific holidays and are quite tasty. Conveniently located behind steak 'n Shake in the Publix plaza. Indoor seating is air-conditioned and they have booths, which are nice when you're with family wanting conversation. Outdoor area is shaded and has a TV in a breeze (wish they'd clean up the trash in the retention pond because it takes away from this experience). Still, the food, selection, quality, and drinks special shells have brought us back on occasion.

We came in and ordered two regular sized subs for our lunch, and were quickly greeted with a smile where our orders were placed. Hubby ordered a tuna fish, and I ordered the Italian Jersey Shore special. Meat is freshly sliced for your sandwich, which I ordered on white bread. Toppings are located at the next spot behind the counter, and we opted for the lettuce, tomatoes and onions (with juice - red wine vinegar and oil) to complete our sandwich. I also asked for pickles, which made me happy. The storefront is bright and clean, lots of windows make it feel bigger than what it is. Tables and chairs are convenient to eat in or take your sandwich home. An assortment of chips and cookies are also displayed in front before the cashier, and fountain drinks can be refilled after your lunch. Overall this location will be a favorite one for us, bringing back fond memories from our youth and the Jersey shore. We only needed a boardwalk outside to complete the memory.

The fries could have been crispier (I asked for them crispy/well done) but the fish sandwich was the star of the show so I didn't mind. I had just eaten a huge breakfast, but had to stop. This place is so warm and welcoming, so cool and laid back, so friendly and chill. It's great for all ages. There's a huge deck, overlooking the Gulf... and an extra tiki bar, off to the side (and who doesn't need an extra tiki bar?!) The food menu is tempting and extensive (grouper, stop calling to me!) and the drink menu is fun and fabulous (and also calling to me). I had a banana/amoretto concoction that made me wonder what I'd been doing with my life, when I should have been here. I kept trying to get hungry enough to order food, but couldn't do it. I'll just have to go back ASAP and get you the seafood and starters info you richly deserve. Sam's is right there on the waterfront, next to the picnic pavilion. The private parking lot is sort of small-but somehow I snagged that spot at noon on a Saturday. There's also street parking close by. I'll bet it's packed at night, though, when they have live music and it's sunset time. Come check them out. If you get there before me, please tell me about the food!
