I'm in town on business and my lawyer insisted I come here for the Blackend Grouper Sandwich She was right. Stellar service as soon as I walked in and that continued with Piper, my server. The fries could have been crispier (I asked for them crispy/well done) but the fish sandwich was the star of the show so I didn't mind. I chose the local IPA over the sierra Nevada Hazy and there was no contest - a much better IPA. The Grouper sandwich was MP so I asked, I got severely burned at Legal Seafoods in Boston last year when Mr, Big Shot didn't ask first. Sam's is a wonderful place for all your eating needs. read more

Sam's Beach Bar - Blackened Grouper By The Sea - Seafood Near Me - Hudson, Florida

My daughter wanted crab legs, I wanted to be close to the ocean. We aren't from Florida, we live across the country in Nevada. So, we looked on a map and picked two areas. Stopped a stranger and asked which place they preferred. They said Hudson so we headed that way. I got onto Yelp and found Sam's Beach Bar. We were pleased with the ambience. I really loved how colorful it was and the open air flowing through the restaurant was nice on a hot day. The staff was friendly and my daughter got her crab legs and loved them. The menu had a good variety of other foods as well. read more

After all these years living in the Bay Area, somehow I'd never been to Hudson Beach. Well that ended in March of 2026... when I rolled by Sam's and saw one last parking spot. I had just eaten a huge breakfast, but had to stop. This place is so warm and welcoming, so cool and laid back, so friendly and chill. It's great for all ages. There's a huge deck, overlooking the Gulf... and an extra tiki bar, off to the side (and who doesn't need an extra tiki bar?!) The food menu is tempting and extensive (grouper, stop calling to me!) and the drink menu is fun and fabulous (and also calling to me). I had a banana/amoretto concoction that made me wonder what I'd been doing with my life, when I should have been here. I kept trying to get hungry enough to order food, but couldn't do it. I'll just have to go back ASAP and get you the seafood and starters info you richly deserve. Sam's is right there on the waterfront, next to the picnic pavilion. The private parking lot is sort of small-but somehow I snagged that spot at noon on a Saturday. There's also street parking close by. I'll bet it's packed at night, though, when they have live music and it's sunset time. Come check them out. If you get there before me, please tell me about the food! read more

This place is a hit or miss place, ordered chicken Alfredo, it was served with macaroni instead of egg noodles, the grouper sandwich was disappointing, try this place with an open mind, read more

I would give 5 Stars for View! But... This used to be our go-to restobar whenever we visit FL. I love dining by the patio for a nice view of the water and the sunset. The view remains the same, but the service and food - fell apart! Shrimp Alfredo - the shrimp tastes good but the pasta and sauce are bland and it becomes hard and sticky once gets cold. Shrimp Basket - I got like 6 pcs of shrimp that has thick breading. The plate looks huge because of the mountain full of fries! It comes with a sauce and coleslaw. Coleslaw tastes good, though. Hurricane Cocktail - not the taste I am expecting. Something missing, not enough Rhum, i guess. One good thing, I got a souvenir plastic glass. I think this is our last visit here. There are other waterfront restaurant out there to try. read more

Always a great time here! Food is consistently delicious, and service is awesome! We had the best server we've ever had last night, Sarah. It was crazy busy, but she handled the chaos so well and was on top of everything while also being so friendly. Oh, and the views of sunset? Breathtaking. read more

The water view was awesome and service was good! Food took an hour to come and it was alright. The fish in my fish and chips was way too breaded. Shrimp rice bowl and seafood boil seemed good for friends. The view and occasional dolphin sightings make up for it though! read more

If I could give NO stars I would. The server was rude. We only ordered clam chowder this time because our last visit wasn't good. Anyone can have a bad time once, so we thought we would try again when we said we wanted only two bowls of soup. The waitress looked at us and said is that ALL? I wouldn't feed what we got in a small bowl to my dog. It was congealed canned soup with canned clams. We are right on the ocean can you say fresh seafood? Two bowls of soup, stale crackers and two ice teas- $35.00. It is the last time we will be going there. I feel like turning it over to Gordon Ramsay and having him do a complete makeover. read more

Sam's Beach Bar - Bar- great band - Seafood Near Me - Hudson, Florida

Went here for dinner with some friends and we were drawn in by the idea of watching the sunset over the water--it did not disappoint. The view was absolutely gorgeous and definitely the highlight of the evening. I have a wheat allergy, so the menu was a bit limited for me since many items were fried or had breading. For the table, we ordered the fried pickles and the pulled pork nachos. For four people, it was a lot of food. The nachos were decent but nothing standout, and I couldn't try the pickles because of the breading. For my entrée, I ordered the blackened grouper with potatoes and vegetables. The grouper itself was fresh and flavorful, but the sides fell short. The potatoes had an odd taste, and the vegetables were just okay--I ended up adding extra salt and pepper for flavor. Honestly, I was already pretty full from the nachos, so I mainly focused on the fish. Overall, the meal was hit-or-miss, but the beautiful sunset made the experience worthwhile. read more

Visited on a Saturday night and the vibes were fantastic! I forget our server's name but he was great. The hostess Carrie I believe was also very accommodating. We ordered the fish and chips and fried shrimp. The fish was delicious but very heavily battered and fried. The shrimp was also delicious and not as heavy. Best part was the sunset views. Live band on Saturdays. Perfect local experience I definitely recommend :) read more

The view of the Gulf, the smell of salty air, the nice ocean breeze with ample, safe parking! We ate literally at the water's edge, overlooking the channels and gorgeous houses. The prices are fair and the food was delicious. I took a small group of friends, one of which was from Buffalo. She was hoping for an extraordinary dining experience and they delivered! Her niece, a pre-teen, had such a great time. The wait staff was ok. We were all smiles and I highly recommend going here at least once! You won't be sorry. read more

Well, all I have to really say is the manger should be fired. Not sure if the lady working the front was the manager or not. 40-50 people walked out because they were not seating anyone. 70-80 percent of the tables were empty. Was originally told 40 minutes. Tables were half full. Plenty of seating. Then there's 6 ahead. Another hour? Waited two hours. Asked why and was told they weren't seating anyone because the kitchen was backed up. Well I was watching the kitchen from where I was. 6 in the kitchen, 1 working. 3 waitresses eating. Finally left and went to get hooked. Seated in minutes and they are three times as busy! With this kind of management they will be belly up soon! read more

Such high expectations and potential with some disappointing qualities. As I read other reviews we wanted to give it a shot to give it the benefit of the doubt, but I would agree with the majority of the experiences that it's a awesome location for the view and ambiance as the outdoor deck/patio is perfect for a beautiful sunset. However the food quality and service was lacking a bit! Granted we had a big party but food did take a while to come out and one or two dishes were forgotten and some of us had to wait a little longer. The New England clam chowder had to be sent back as it was not edible. It was spoiled and rancid and super sour. Food quality was nothing spectacular nor memorable as it was basic and generic tasting bar and grille type menu items and presentations. Love the setting and ambience, but didn't love the food as much and drinks as much. read more

Every time we come here, It gets better and better. It's our go-to spot when guests come into town. The food is always plentiful and flavorful. A bucket of mussels! Even pacing ourselves, it was a lot. And the staff never seems to rush you because they know after 6:00, you're there not just for the delicious food, or the live music but it's great place to catch a sunset. read more

5/5 view & location 4/5 waitstaff & FOH 2/5 food & BOH Our party of 3 came in for sunset dinner on a Monday evening. We were told 2+ hours wait but were seated after about an hour. We were greeted promptly by friendly waitstaff and ordered apps & entrees. Here's where it went south: The apps took about 45-50 minutes, but our server updated us twice and apologized. The food took another 45-50 minutes on top of THAT. In our party of 3, one person's plate was perfect. Mine was tasty but cold. The third person ordered "béchamel shrimp & crab Mac & cheese"... with spiral pasta cooked al dente and fresh & large shrimp. The sauce was straight up velveeta, though. Not even gonna try to sugarcoat it. The server again was apologetic and offered to "fix" the issues but at that point we just wanted to go. They comped the cold entree and gave us a dessert to go on the house. We would go back, but not for a meal - probably more to sit, sip, snack, and visit as long as we had zero timetable and weren't hungry or thirsty upon arrival. read more

Rude little waitress in the tiki bar area. There were 5 of us and we had been in the tiki bar area for over an hour, had drinks, already IDd at the bar and table. My wife stopped a young brunette waitress to ask for waters, since we had been drinking. She got cocky and said she demanded to see IDs of everyone at the table, then told us we couldn't be there because two of my sons looked under 21. We are in our 50s and our sons are in their mid to late twenties. We had already been drinking for an hour in the tiki bar area prior to this .... We are also from the Hudson area and was out celebrating one of my son's birthday. Need to check your wait staffs attitudes. There was no reason for that, she was upset because we asked her to bring water. Then she didn't even bring the waters, the bar tender brought them after overhearing and apologized. read more

Bathrooms have not been working for weeks. Are you kidding me? You have to go to the public park to use their bathrooms. Yuck.

It's been years now since Ive been in. I used to go on a regular for sunset, but they changed the menu, and the bartenders. Food, service. The view is the only thing going for the place. Tourist dont know any better

I'm a regular at Sam's. You can't beat the view, the dolphins and all the boats going by. The food is very plentiful and good as well. Their shrimp are always amazing and however I got the peel and eat shrimp for the first time. That were large and fresh. However, they were coated in paprika, which tasted good but when you're peeling off all the shells the paprika gets all over your fingers and under your nails. The chart, lemon and scallions. But some of the shrimp had very prominent poop veins. Not my favorite. When you're eating really good seafood you really don't want to have to pull out the poop veins. I would ask that the restaurant do this for their customers since we're paying $25-$27 for a pound of shrimp. Again the shrimp were amazing except for this. read more

Sorry but your cook needs to go. We have been there as a group three times to give the benefit of the doubt and your food is just not good. Tried several different things each time hoping it got better. Simple things and dinners should not all be bad. You are wasting the atmosphere by not having a better manager and cook who actually can bring in better cooking. We can't try it for a fourth time unless we just have drinks. It's sad because we love the area. Listen to the people and try your food. read more

This place is a tourist trap. The service was great so I don't want to blame our experience on the server by any means. The cocktails on the menu are extremely sweet. If you like typical beach side overly sweet cocktails you will be satisfied. The red sangria was good but again, made with fruit juice so just plan for sugar sugar sugar unless you get a beer. The food... the worst part! My mahi mahi tacos were like rubber and so overcooked. The sweet potato fries were good but tasted like frozen sweet potato fries I could have gotten from Walmarts freezer section. The crab Mac and cheese was DISGUSTING!!! Tasted like cheap kids Mac and cheese. extremely over sauced and a stomach ache waiting to happen. When you walk by the kitchen you will see for yourself. The photos on the wall are most likely to help the chefs and servers make sure they know what the food looks like before sending it out. Prob because the turnover rate is bad. It looks like photos of food you would order at the fair. Go here for the sunset and a beer. Nothing more! read more

Unfortunately food was just okay and the service was mediocre, granted it was a Monday night. We ordered the fried shrimp po boy with fries, pulled pork bbq nachos, mahi mahi tacos and pepperoni pizza. Shrimp po boy was lacking flavor, the only flavoring came from their sauce. The pulled pork bbq nachos nachos were dripping with extra moisture that was not needed. The beans were saturated and had not been drained before being dumped onto the baked tortilla chips. The only thing that was good was the mahi mahi tacos, though the actual mahi mahi lacked flavoring as well the mango pico de gallo was the only thing that improved the tacos. The beans and rice were the star without needing any extra seasoning. The pepperoni pizza had too thick of tomato sauce and too thin of crust. I would suggest going to the Inn on the Gulf instead which is right across the way. read more

We have been loyal customers of Sam's Beach Bar for years, and it's always been our go‑to spot when we have family visiting. After today, that ends. Despite the restaurant being only moderately busy, the service was unbelievably slow. Our drinks took over 20 minutes to arrive, and only then were we told they didn't actually have the champagne needed for the Mimosa they said they could make. Another 20 minutes for a replacement drink. The appetizers were even worse. We waited well over an hour for the first one, and the rest came out one at a time over the next 30 minutes. Nothing arrived together. The entire experience felt disorganized and careless. Our server, Trish, was the only person who seemed to care. She was kind, attentive, and clearly understood how unacceptable the situation was. She brought over the manager, Don -- and that's where things completely fell apart. He offered nothing to make the situation right. No apology that felt genuine, no solution, no attempt to fix the experience. Just indifference. After years of choosing Sam's Beach Bar as a favorite spot, today was the final straw. You've lost our business, and we won't be back. read more

Food mediocre, over priced and lacked service. Birds eating food off plates left on tables. Nice view of the water, great ambiance.

Went for a nice dinner. Ordered the onion rings as an appetizer, menu says they are batter dipped , they were not. They were breaded, I don't like them breaded. Ordered fish and chips, they were cold when I received them. The two people I was with had already received their dinner and started eating. Couldn't find our server, asked another server to find her. When she finally came to our table 10 minutes later, I told her my dinner came to me cold and she said she would get me another order.
