He kept saying "she knows me" so that didn't happen. We wound up moving to the back of the bar. We were both disappointed with the Oysters Rockefeller we ordered. They were covered in cheese and we could barely taste them. We scraped most of it off and unfortunately the spinach came with it. The coleslaw was meh. This is a great local dive bar! Lots of outdoor seating, games on an open lawn to play with kids. Food was amazing! Wings that look like they came from turkeys they were so big! Everyone is friendly here and the bartender is top-notch!! We sat outside, but at their bar. I ordered flavored oysters which were supposed to be steamed. Well, the topping was cooked but the oysters were still for the most part, raw. I didn't mind at all because I like raw too. But, be warned. You might want to mention you want them cooked all the way, if you prefer that. The flavored oysters can be Oysters Rockefeller, Garlic and Cheese and a few more including Texas style with bbq sauce. I've now been to skinny's twice; sitting outside once and inside once. Both times I've been there has been a ton of regulars. They have live music every Saturday and Sunday as well as daily specials. For food, it's a bar food menu with a few surprises; specifically the oysters. Both time I've had the cooked oysters and both times they have been good. Oyster rockafella and the garlicky ones. The other ideal iced had both times is the pork rinds that are cooked fresh. I LOVE fresh pork rinds so this is def a win for me. The portions are a good size enough to share with apps. The service is a bit slow as is the food coming out of the kitchen so you might need some patience and to glad die the waitress. For me this place is about listening to live music and grabbing a bite to eat while there. Not going for the food and then enjoying the music. I will go back and check out different bands. Clam chowder is home made, with a lighter broth, not super thick. Has a nice amount of potatoes and clams. We would order this again The lobster bisque is not home made. Well, seeing it's been over 15 years since I updated my review, I figured that was a good time to update it. Skinny's has only gotten better. I called a couple of restaurants to see if they had corn beef and cabbage and they all were charging like over $20 or close to it. Skinny's advertised it on Facebook and I'm gonna tell you something that was the best $12 meal I spent in a long time. Complete with corned beef and cabbage and carrots and potatoes and it was delicious. I took a picture of the updated menus and I'm gonna add them right now. I will be back again soon. One of our go to places when we're out to break away from the normal restaurant scene. Just off of US19 in Hudson, this dive bar always has something going on. Now, onto the food... Wings... cooked to perfection! Get the house sauce, you won't be disappointed. Peel and eat shrimp with old bay, also cooked to perfection. Homemade cocktail sauce that's got quite a kick of horseradish if that's what you're into (I am and I LOVED it). Philly cheesesteak was absolutely amazing. Fluffy yet ooey gooey texture to the meat and fixings in the middle. But most notably, is the buttering of the inside of the bread that is then grilled on the flat top like the outside of a grilled cheese before the sandwich is assembled. A detail that you didn't realize how much you needed. Tater tot kegs! They are massive and ooey gooey. I'm not sure what they are filled with but I'm assuming cheese mixed with potatoes and maybe some onion? They are topped with more cheese and served with ranch. Perfect appetizer. I have also been once before and had a dozen oysters that I didn't snag a pic of. They are flown in fresh daily and you can freaking tell. Been to skinny's 2 times in one week. What sets this place apart from the other dozens of local bars around the Hudson/NPR area is the service is outstanding-they are always busy but always attentive and timely. Every body hustles and ensures your drinks/food are delivered timely. As for the food-some of the items like the fish n chips-while good had an exceptionally thick crust-break that off and the fish is very good-shrimp basket is one of the best around. Prices are very good and we plan on going there more. The one complaint is the music-loud-screaming-head banging-great if you are into it-horrible if you want to carry on a conversation. Our solution, as we were leaving is the back outside area is quiet, plenty of seating and a whole different experience. Do not be discouraged by the full parking lot-once you park you will not have a problem finding seating. read more

Tried this place out because of the reviews. We did not have the same experience of a four star establishment. Britt was our server and took her time. When she came to take our drink order, I felt like she was trying to rush us, which I did not like, being that this was our first time there. When I told her we weren't ready, we probably waited 15 minutes for her to come back to the table, this happened with the drinks and the food orders both. I told my sister every time she left that we were never gonna see her again. When 30 minutes easily passed before we got our food, I asked her where it was, and she replied, "well, everyone ordered at the same time, and we only have three cooks.... We're doing the best we can" and then walked off. That may be an OK response for some of you, but it wasn't for me. Our food did come just after that though but my burger was rare to medium instead of medium well. I am not a fan of eating raw meat, but I wasn't going to send it back bc I was hungry. My sister enjoyed her fish sandwich, but it came without tartar sauce, which we thought was weird. The drinks were good. I know this is supposed to be a "beach bar" but I felt like it was extremely dirty and could use a good cleaning. The bathrooms were disgusting. One toilet had a lot of urine in it and toilet paper, bc it was broken, so it wouldn't flush. The other toilet, the seat wouldn't stay on the toilet. They also watered down their soap, so whenever you went to wash your hands, the soap slid right off. They moved a speaker just outside the door to the outside area and draped the thick speaker cord right across the entrance and exit of the door so you had to move it any time you wanted to walk through it. This place is an absolute mess and I'm shocked that people go here, but then again, when you look at the people who are there, that explains everything.
