My wife just finished a kayak trip on the river through New Port Richey for their Patriotic Paddle--dressed as Lady Liberty, she won a prize!--when she said, let's go to Get Hooked Grill. (We'd seen it last week when she did the maiden paddle down the river on her new-to-her kayak.) I'm very glad she noticed it and suggested we try it out: it is wonderful! The vibe is laid back with a happy local riverside feel. The bar area is on the right with most of the dining tables to the left. Our server, Joseph, is aces! He suggested the fried mozzarella planks, which sounded great but, seeing as this was Lady Liberty's day we went for a classic, fried pickles with a template sauce. Joseph definitely knows the menu! For entrees she picked the fried shrimp basket and I went with the Almost Island Style Grilled Chicken sandwich. (The pineapple is what did it.) As much as I loved my sandwich, next time I'll likely try the grouper, which he had recommended.* We also tried sides of French fries and potato salad. All was quite tasty! They have their own parking lot and, despite being busy, there was ample parking. We will be back and we recommend you try it out as well! -- * I'd not tried the grouper because it seemed overpriced. We decided to try this place for a birthday lunch. I had the fried oyster basket which came with fries, added a side of coleslaw for an additional $2.00. My son had a blackened grouper sandwich, he said it was good except the top of the bun was hard.bHis wife had the turkey club, a large portion & looked pretty good. Granddaughter had the roasted chicken flatbread, didn't look very good to me. Glad we tried it but we all said that we would not be back. Service was mediocre at best. I hate to say it, but I'm not a fan. They're probably a great local spot if you're looking for drinks and bar food, but I cannot recommend them for an actual meal. We had a pulled pork sandwich and a Lobster Roll. First off, the lobster roll was not lobster, it was "Lobster Sensation," which if you didn't know, means "fake lobster." See how I put quotations around the phrase "Lobster Sensation"? That's because it's the culturally accepted way to denote a faux meat. Sure, perhaps I might have known by the use of the word, "Sensation," but I don't think that's clear. I often hear people refer to food as "sensational" or "a sensation." But that doesn't mean it's fake. It's not clear enough to prepare us for the disappointment upon finding out it was not lobster. On a bright note, the fries were fantastic! Definitely get those. Plus the pulled pork was pretty good. So if you go to this seafood place, order the pork. One final note, there was a slight smell of musty water or maybe mold. Wife and I went tonight for our 5th and final visit. This was the worst. We both ordered the Chicken Alfredo. Server brought us shrimp. Wife is allergic to shellfish. She said she heard us say shrimp, but was quick to remove the plates and a bit later brought what we had requested. Wife asked for extra parmesan cheese. She brought us little cups of powdered parmesan that has cellulose (wood fibers). We asked for fresh grated as our first visit about 6 months ago the server offered and brought fresh parm to the table and grated it over our food. This server said, "we don't do that here". Well, cutting corners to cut cost just cost them 2 customers. We left a 15% tip on credit card instead of our usual 25% cash tip. Not happy with service, and could taste the powdered parm that was served on the chicken. Get Hooked on Main Street used to be pretty good. Not any more. It's gone downhill. read more

Though the location and atmosphere is a fun, casual place, the food could definitely be better. Also, no AC. I thought they had an indoor area, but found when we arrived, that everything was open air. It was sooooo hot. If you are looking for an interesting place to listen to music, sit outside, and have a few drinks, it's a good place to go. If you want a place with AC and good seafood, go elsewhere. read more

Average, overall just average for the prices. First of all, 1/2 the menu is listed as "market price" so when I asked for "today's pricing" our server said he stored the prices in his head. Okay so we asked the pricing for 6 items or so. Prices were all over the place! Really super high on some things & low pricing on others. None of it made sense. AND I guess the prices that were stored "in his head" changed by the time our bill came. Seriously odd. The food was good however. The shrimp were very good, large with a light breading. Fries were very good too. Also very healthy portions on the calm basket & shrimp basket. The oysters on a half shell weren't shucked correctly so 1/2 of the oyster was still attached to shell. Excellent experience! Food was hot and tasty Hannah was a very attentive and conscientious Server! We had the Grouper sandwich with fries, x2 grouper baskets one with fries, the other with potato salad!! The fish was so fresh and tasty!! Abundant portions!! We also had a cup of New England clam chowder and a cup of lobster bisque soup !! Both were Amazing!!! The restaurant itself was very clean, and the staff are very friendly . We only did a To-Go order so I cannot rate the service or atmosphere. But I can on the food! My son and I ordered the Seafood Medley for two and my parents got the Clam Chowder and Lobster Roll. Nothing special. The atmosphere was mediocre. Not very lively. No live music. Host did his job but could've been friendlier. I could have been at a Denny's. Call me a snob, but none of the silverware matched, either. Now, I can overlook all of the above when the food is amazing. But it wasn't. Some of it was awesome and some was blah. The hush puppies were excellent! Made fresh. Not the machine made round balls you can get anywhere. The flavor and the remoulade sauce were perfect. I got a container of Ken's blue cheese with my salad. That was very disappointing. I expected house-made dressing as the menu stated. The seafood was definitely fresh and the serving size was good. My friend's grouper look great and he said it was good. But something was lacking in presentation. Big, fluffy and fell apart perfectly but looked a little sad on the giant plate. No parsley or greenery. Too much yellow. Yellow rice and veggies were mostly red & yellow peppers. The garlic bread was dry and had little to no garlic. Now I'll get to my disappointing dinner. One of my favorite meals is shrimp and grits. Definitely not my favorite version. The blackened shrimp were fresh, a good size and plentiful. Served on a pile of plain grits sprinkled with cheese and scallions. No roux, no sauce, no butter, no seasoning, no nothing. Whoever put this recipe together has never had Southern shrimp & grits nor had they ever Googled a recipe for shrimp and grits. It was the saddest meal ever. Keep in mind, this is the only time I've ever been to this restaurant. However, my impression is the owners love seafood and have been supplying seafood to this community for ages. And seafood is at the top of my list of things I could eat for the rest of my life. However, I feel that they have no cooking background whatsoever. Cooking, seasoning, and presentation all felt lacking. But as advertised the seafood was amazingly fresh and they definitely get kudos for that. We decided to try out the new location for Get Hooked and we enjoyed our meals! The restaurant was recently renovated and opened since Hurricane Helene impacted their original Hudson, FL location. The staff was pleasant and attentive and the food was fresh and hot! I enjoyed a huge fried fish sandwich and my husband had the enormous Salmon BLT...both sandwiches could feed 4 people! We wished that the lobster roll on the menu was not "lobster sensation," maybe a real one appears as a special now and then...we'll have to find out. The conch fritters that we started with were tasty, but expensive, all different sizes, and not loaded with conch. We will definitely be back to try some more soon! read more

This is the 2nd location for Get Hooked. The original is in Hudson, FL. I've eaten Seafood here, as well as the burgers and steaks. They even had smoked Corned Beef and cabbage on St Patrick's Day! I've never had any food issues since they opened this location. There are daily specials, and the fish is always fresh. This is a place you go to a couple of times and the staff recognizes you. We tried the Get Hooked Grill today for dinner. Keep in mind, this is not a fine dining establishment. My husband and I both had the Scallop Platter, which was priced at "market price". That is where we made the mistake. The dinner included 5 medium sized scallops and 2 sides, plus a salad. We also ordered 2 iced teas. The total for this meal was $83.90 and I left a $15 tip, bringing the grand total to almost $100.... This was NOT a $100 meal. We probably won't return. read more

From the daily catches of Snapper and Hogfish and dad's club sandwich. All were cooked to a perfect temperature. Not often enough is food cooked perfectly and served timely! Have to give these people five stars. Their Hudson location is still under reconstruction post hurricanes and here they are opening up a new location to keep the business flowing. That kind of work ethic deserves five stars. And it makes it much easier when the food was very good and the service was top-notch. Our waitress was great, and I have to say the grouper tacos blackened were absolutely fantastic. They did not scrimp on the grouper at all. My dad truly enjoyed his shrimp and cheesy grits. The seafood stuffed mushrooms were pretty good, and my dad loved the conch fritters; that's one of his go to's if a place has it. I do not really know how to judge them since I am not much of a deep fried person, but they were very large and my dad was very happy! All in all it was a very good experience, the inside of the place has been redecorated to look much nicer than it did. You just gotta know it's there, because right now there's just a little temporary sign hanging. Just turn into the parking lot just before you go over the bridge on Main Street Heading towards 19. I ate here with my family for my sister in laws birthday. I ordered the Grouper meal for $32.95 and I regret it. Grouper was small, tasteless, steamed vegetables were drowned in water again tasteless , the potatoes were not good either. The only spotlight was the small caesar salad that came with meal. For $33 I better get a decent meal and this was so lacking. I talked to the waiter and he was like well that's the meal, didn't offer to make it right. I hadn't been to this Get Hooked location before, and I must say this one is much better than the other one. If I'm remembering correctly, the one in Hudson is very noisy and partly outdoors, which is nice for some people but not my personal favorite; whereas this one is nice and comfortable and quiet. I ordered a lobster sandwich and it was delicious (and very small, so it was affordable! Don't worry, there were lots of fries, so I didn't leave hungry).
